    Idk why the the javelin angling itself towards the ground and landing is satisfying to watch

    • @RikthDcruze
      @RikthDcruze 2 года назад +6

      Thats because your brain is designed to anticipate food and survival everytime a javelin lands.

    • @karthikrao9000
      @karthikrao9000 2 года назад +1

      The javelin angles towards the ground because the center of mass of the javelin is located in front of the center of pressure thus creating a downward moment, or tipping a javelin towards the ground.

    I miss javelin, I was provincial champion in high school. Javelin in its essence is about finesse and technique. It's a pure sport. And we've been throwing spears since the dawn of time. Glad it's still apart of the Olympics 😊

      Completely agree. It was very cool when you pulled that out of your car at meets too 😀. That old javelin was really interesting how technique was more important than strength. It really punished you for pulling low or high, but would surprise you sometimes with a long throw on a medium effort. One day practicing in our back yard doing some light warm-up throws, I accidentally pierced the side of our above-the-ground swimming pool. Dad was thrilled with that.

    So maybe time to modified it again f.e increase javalin weight?

      I loved throwing in high school. I was a champion. And for my size a lot of ppl including teachers were surprised. I always had a great arm. Throwing footballs and baseballs going up. I had a technique that was just unmatched. I took a lot of my football throwing experience and infused it into this sport. I loved it. I would throw 4-5 meters ahead of bigger guys than myself. This was 12 years ago now. Doesn't seem so long ago. I'd like to get back into it honestly. It was a great time in my life looking back now

    • @santeenl
      @santeenl 6 лет назад

      Then start again! :) Also great throwing "arms" are a misconception. The only thing great about the arm can be an agile, strong elbow. Your throw is 95% the rest of your body, not of lot of arm involved.

    a quick technical question here
    what is the best throwing angle ?
    I'm asking to compare the result with artillery ... their best angle for distance is around 38 (think between 30 & 45) ... so I want to know if there is other factors that a human can put into such sport to get more distance ... like spin it around it axis (as refiling the barrels do) ... feathers or fins are illegal I guess

      Randi Santoso there's a 37.5 or so degree sector that the javelin must land inside to be considered fair. Very rarely to athletes not throw it inside this area. But yes it does happen sometimes, with all throwing events, that officials or other athletes get injured. Don't think it's ever been so bad as to hit the stands however

    lol I know what you think but try to do what they do actually go skeet shooting you will find out it's not as easy as it looks. Throwing a Javelin is easy 60 yards is my average. Shooting exercises one of the most important muscles in your body the mind. But at the same time I'm not great at explaining it, but lets just say you have to try it to understand it. So get off your computer and try it if you can.
