Well he actually plays very similar characters if you think about it. From Gus Fring, to Antón Castillo (Far Cry 6) and now Stan Edgar, they're all very powerful and intimidating villains. He is an amazing actor and I love his performances, but honestly I don't think he has too much wiggle room in the choosing of his characters.

Giancarlo Esposito just manages to be the perfect actor that can play both and either a serious and/or villainous character. I can only imagine if he plays Lex Luthor or an older variant of Kang the Conquer.
I have a theory that he is the ultimate supe in plain sight that absolutely no one knows about but homelander which is why he basically trembles before him.

Heartening to know that Giancarlo also does random impressions of his own characters’ voices sometimes like I do. He’s such a cool dude, whenever he needs a break, someone should give him one of those documentary shows that’s just an excuse for the host to take a nice vacation, like the “Stanley Tucci Eats Italian Food” show. I feel like he has the charisma to pull it off.
I'm used to all his serious roles and performances , this kind of energetic or unhinged personality and behavior from him genuinely messes with my brain and perseption (in a good way) and makes me even more impressed with his acting
This guy can play absolutely anything, and makes them all 100% believable.
