- British Army Guards Paras | 3 Miler
Infantry courses were focused on core infantry skills, but the various demands on infantry battalions meant that soldiers were not necessarily well practiced in these at all times. Consequently, battalions sought to address this gap by conducting their own in house refresher training. Over time, however, it became evident that the level of performance on both courses was unpredictable and varied between the battalions.
In 1996 this resulted in the Household Division and Parachute Regiment pooling resources to create the first centralised team to deliver this training, known as Household Division & Parachute Regiment Centralised Courses, known as (HDPRCC).

It's actually fucking crazy how much I've learnt about the British Army from this channel compared to any other, keep this up lad, there's hardly any decent insight video's for the British Army compared to the US Military. You being easily the best, it's honestly making me thinking of joining up but I seriously need to get in shape haha.
Appreciate it, I wish the ARMY saw the value in it too......I agree enough said 🤐🔥🔥🔥
And better than us army
Mike Hunt Join mate. You’ll love it. I joined the reserves (can’t commit to regulars) and it’s one of the best things I’ve done. Get fit and crack on. Fitness will help you in all aspects of a career in the army. As long as you’re fit, switched on and always willing to give it everything, you’ll do fine! Go for it fella! 👌🏻💪🏻👍🏻
@@jakem834 Thank's lad, defiantly might go for it full time, pretty overweight right now like so a few month's intense gym training is a must haha! feel like I'm stuck with the dead end job I currently have and I've always been interested in joining the Police, so an MP soldier could be the way to go! ( Even if it's one of the most hated regiments :') )
Trust me mate join up, it will probably be the best thing I will do in my life time by a long shot. With fitness just start getting amongst it and cracking on. With the right mindset you will be in basic before you know.
3para lad didn't even break a sweat..good to see him drop back to push others on

Aye me to Iam Spartacus, i was at Pirbright Guards depot 19 years ago, just before the guards done all training at Catterick. Seen 9/11 happen in the Naafi during phase 2 (infantry training) in catterick. Thought it was a movie! BluRedBlue

Well done pal, stay on top of ya fitness..
These are already qualified infantry soldiers who have gone to Pirbright for part of their first promotion course. If you want to join the Infantry, you’ll do your recruit training in Catterick, North Yorkshire.
This popped up in my suggested videos. Good times, brought back memories of my time in 504PIR. Keep up the good work Airborne!

These videos are amazing. First hand account is priceless. How long would it take to get to this level of fitness say if your just off the street?
That what im wondering as well. Just left a night job of 3 years and pretty unfit. And looking to join the reserves.
That's what the trainings for, some of these lads and ladies have the prowess of a olympic athlete.
You train together, change together and make bonds that will last a lifetime.
Don’t need to be fit to go in you need to be fit to stay in, no matter how unfit you are there is always somebody more unfit than you but you and the boys go through it together, always pushing through it and digging deep. Your fitness will improve in no time!
@@KB-pd4ws So you recommend me joining in my unfit state and ill will be trained up to the right fitness standard don't want to be a liability in training? Also im out of work until the 1 June which has given me a long time to think about joining the reserves.
I do mate but I would recommend you to at least start going for a run just to get you prepared for what’s to come, just to get a feel of what you will go through I was unfit when I first joined up now I’m as fit as a fiddle I’ve been in 4 years now and loving it....just go for it mate you will smash it I’m sure. 💪🏽
Trying to see the regimental insignia/accoutrements, and read through the description and comments. What I’m gathering is these are not recruits, but trained individual regimental members of both the Guards and Paras doing refresher training, being delivered by a training establishments residential cadre consolidated from the aforementioned regiments. Is this correct? What is the training they are completing/refreshing, or is it just for a periodic assessment of the 3 miler? What is the frequency/currency for re-evaluation? Cheers
The good things about a hill theirs always the way down faster good effort.
That looks like the 7 sisters as they were known back in the day.
they were a killer with sand hill at the end to look forward to depending how hard you worked . and what mood the PTI was in
@@billywhizz1656 ahhhhh, sandhill. Glorious times spent breathing out my arse and spewing the last 30 second meal up 🤣👍 Happy days.
it was the seven sisters I believe along the fence line.
can you remember the sand hill lol hahah not very high... until you are on your 5th time up all at the same time then pressup in the big puddle at the bottom.. people died on that hill
we had to do a 3 mile through the woods , then a 1 mile assault course and finish with a shoot . we called it a march and shoot . dont know why they ever called it a march , we only ran . pirbright in the 70s . welsh guards .
There in 76 Welsh guards!
great effort from these guys !!!! right on..
Rock on!
Got to say I do miss the days of PT and a good old beasting sesh. Saying that I still rag my ass on a daily basis as a hardcore civvy 😁

Can't wait for part 2. All in all big up guys.
Looks like 7 Sisters hill, damn brilliant effort!
This is why our soldiers are the best👍
Great vid, one question out of curiosity iv been in the Army 13 years and never seen anyone with a renk slide on thier helmet? Is this an airborne / guards thing?
Thanks mate,..No notting new. it's just there so the instructor can Identify the Section commander and the 2Ic.

Might sound like a silly question, but how much cushioning does the British Army boot have? seems like a lot of injurys are down to the impact from the foot.
those hills are killer when your legs are all ready turning to jelly. well done all
What happened to the both hands on the rifle? Did that even on 10 milers
yea I was just thinking that.. pretty sure we had to hold the weapon with both hands infront of our chest.
That's a new one, smiling after a run.. I carried a gpmg on a 10 miler - I wasn't smiling at the end.
Is this an older video, I swear Iv watched the introduction before a while ago
How it's changed. Why aren't the paras going hell for leather to beat the wooden tops. Why aren't 2para trying to beat 3para. Why no beasting screaming swearing corporal motivation. Or did I dream all that in the 70s. Even the music is layed back... Well done lads. I am a grumpy old git🤬
Why is the 3 para lad tabbing with the Haraldos?
I'm aiming to join the Paras, Just sent my application, time to get fit enough to absolutely smash the basic and then hopefully pass my P company tests 🤞

Silly question incoming!
Why do the guards and paras have a joint training unit?
becuase why spend money on having 2 perminant training groups when you can have 1
Love it!
Me too!😭😭
I love seeing this! Our army (Canada) needs help in a bad way. I religiously live in the gym, others prefer pizza and beers daily. 80% of our army is beyond fat
I’m about to join the British army hopefully into the welsh guards and was wondering does height matter, I’m not the tallest of lads but I don’t want my height stopping progression for my future I’m around 5’6

We out here :)
Out of interest, does anyone know what pace they’re running at?
Went to the Guards Teapot May 75.
What weight and time do they have to get for 3 miler
Be interesting to know I think normal infantry need to run a mile and half in under 12 mins but not sure of 3 miles
bexs 22 I’m Ex Army. For this type of run; Your day snack,15kg, SA80 Rifle, 9kg, helmet, 2kg - that’s typically the weight you would have for this type of run, the CFT (combat fitness test) when I was in would be 8 miles in 2 hours that’s the longest distance you’re expected to go in training (Infantry) (10 miles in 2 hours for the Paras) for this 3 miler the fittest lads would be doing it in about 15 mins but as a group a good time should be around the 18 minute marker
Hp 138 stated below
@@RockysLife yeh 15 mins for 3 miles i think might be way to high judging by that being 4.8km and the entry req for the army is 1030 for infantry on a 2km run with no kit, correct me if im wrong just agree that it dosent sound very plausible
@@gooseygooze8288 Not entry requirement at all, In my training, the fittest lads were smashing that in about 15,16.. that just the best guys and there was only 2 of them out of the whole 40/50 that passed through our Platoon - The expected standard is about 18 mins when I was training in 2013, you'll still be okay with a 19 min time but the slowest people were coming in after 20-23 mins
Hi guys l want to ask if British army is recruiting candidates from Commonwealth nation.

What time is this distance expected to be done in and what weight is carried?
Am going buy some gym gear for my garage during lockdown would u advise a treadmill or a rowing machine more to get rid of fat better.

Was the three miler not an individual test within 35 minutes.
How long did the three miles actually take for them though I gather 25 ish or so
Is that the 4 sisters they are running? I recognise that ground.
Don Wetherell it’s 7 sisters
Does it lead up to Coloney Gate?
Do all the of HouseHold division do this course Including the Household Cavalry Regiment?
all guards at one point did that route.. we never called it the 3 miler though. it was just a PT day but by the looks of the ongoing effort, it was the same thing. its been a good 23 years or so since I did that training so my memory is a little hazy. im also ex HCAV.
Yes. Household cavalry do HDPRCC courses. The only thing nowadays is the Cavalry aren’t mandated to do it for career progression.

Why is he wearing a huge chevron on his helmet, is that a guards thing?.
Never seen rank badges sewn onto a helmet cover. Must be a Guard’s thing.
Well in Gents, when I was in training and hanging, for some reason my Sergeant used to say top 2 inches. Still never got to find he meaning of it after all through the years I served.

How many KG would they be carrying?
Making hardwork of fairly easy route..what weight ?
Sorry mate we will let the army know for you 👍
I have a question are the paras special forces of the British army and also are they allowed to join the royal Marine commandos
Paras are not special forces but are considered elite. Royal Marine Commandos are part of the Royal Navy and are also considered as an elite unit but not special forces. Both Paras and Marines often go on to attempt Special Forces selection. Usually Paras would attempt selection to join the SAS and Marines would attempt selection for the SBS however both the SAS and SBS are open to all branches and trades across the whole armed forces.
@@heeeeeyyyyyyyyy thank u so much for providing me such a informative answer I appreciate ur reply
I do believe every Para does aspire to become a Royal Marine eventually.
Why does the guardsman have an old helmet cover?
Nicolas because he is emotionally attached to it 🤦🏽♂️
Wonder how much does their back pack weight??
for these sorts of tests around 35 to 40LLBS thats standard for basic military fitness tests. those packs also wouldn't hold much more either.
What's the weights? And the pass times?
