ok this looks AWESOME i have to get it, thank you so much for playing it btw it's always great to see big channels giving the time and bring attention to Touhou
This game has a lot of heart in it, I like that the enemy attacks act like Touhou bullet patterns, it adds to the spectacle of the fights. Although I've never really cared for deckbuilder roguelikes.
The first type of roguelike i played was a deckbuilder, and I absolutely love this one because of how well it appears to play (and because it's touhou)
I'd very much like more of this, ignoring the whole touhou aesthetic that draws me in (God the music and animations are phenomenal), the mechanics seem diverse enough that I can faithfully call it separate from your typical StS-like and yet it keeps the fun deckbuilding and op shenanigans that have made that genre a favorite.
Also for that final boss it seems like you need to save your Ultimate to kill her before that 80 damage attack (which i assume triggers on low health or smth)
That boss is absolute horror, even if you can tank her 88 dmg attack(which a specific Reimu build definitely can), she keeps gaining passives until one of them just says "next turn, player loses"
I was NOT expecting you to play Touhou in any capacity. Not that I'm complaining, mind you, quite the opposite, but I'm still very surprised. Touhou is a rather family friendly game, so even though this is a game there shouldn't be anything bad... -now play the official games- The character you played as is Hakurei Reimu(Japanese order, so Hakurei is the surname), the Hakurei shrine maiden. She solves incidents in Gensokyo(where most of the events take place). She usually has homing attacks and the such, and is known for being easier to play with. She also deals with barriers and borders quite often. Fantasy Seal is her "signature attack" basically. Gensokyo is a place separated by a boundary from the outside world, where all things forgotten or thought of as not real go to(like monsters, or youkai since Touhou is Japanese). There are also the spell card rules, which exist to prevent destruction and death. So the characters can shoot fireworks of magic without killing each other, and the winner gets to tell the loser what to do more or less. 7:19 these are the fairies of light. They get power from the sun, moon and stars and have the ability to reflect light, nullify sound and detect life respectively. Fairies are basically immortal as they can respawn, but they're stupid and weak... Kirisame Marisa is a witch that uses mostly light magic, and is also the second playable character in every game(Reimu is the first obviously). She has a huge fricking laser. Izayoi Sakuya is a maid of the Scarlet Devil Mansion(the mistress of which caused and incident) and is capable of stopping time(and manipulating it). She was playable a couple of times. 17:37 Yakumo Yukari, a sage of Gensokyo and a gap yokai(yokai are kinda similar to spirits/monsters). She has the ability to manipulate any and all boundaries, like: the boundary of life and death, the boundary of night and day, boundary of dreams and reality... she's very overpowered. 18:12 Shameimaru Aya. A tengu, who is extremely fast and also a (very annoying to other characters) photographer.
You also have Kamishirasawa Keine in the tutorial; kinda fitting considering she's a teacher. Were-hakutaku (a creature said to advise monarchs and repel disasters or monsters; if it sounds familiar that's because the Pokemon Absol is based on the same legend). Her power is hard to explain honestly aside from the fact that in human form she can conceal history (like existence of a village to anyone who doesn't already know where it's located). 6:12 - The middle card is based on a Reimu shot type that appears in some of the games. 7:00 - Mike over here is based on the cat lucky charm figurines and has similar power of bringing prosperity. 21:31 - Look it's Reisen! An ex-Lunarian rabbit, now lives on Earth. She basically assists Eirin with medicine. She can basically manipulate perception, either to disguise attacks or drive somebody insane with hallucinations. Not to be confused with that other Reisen from manga (who has the same name that is technically spelled differently). The joke in the dialogue is that Reisen is playable in one of the official games, so Reimu's like "why aren't you doing anything". 26:05 - Takane, one of the more recent characters. A kappa who has moved away from the usual river habitat; kappas are basically the engineers of this world. 27:45 - Rin who lives in Former Hell (yes that's a thing) and basically does job of regulating the fire/heat in it... by dragging corpses. Also can communicate with spirits, which is why she gets to summon some here. 34:34 - The card on left is based on one of Reimu's spellcards. 40:33 - Junko... is an interesting character. Based on a character from a poem, Junko is pure fury (and yes her power is purifying things). Why? Because somebody killed her son and she basically wanted revenge (basically a mother consumed by the grief of losing her child like that). Notably has ignored spellcard rules and made spell cards with intent to kill the opponent. 40:50 - Hata no Kokoro, who's a mask tsukomogami (a youkai that comes to life when an object used by one of the Japanese gods exists for 100 years). She can manipulate emotions. 44:43 - Oh hey look Rinnosuke, one of the few named male characters in this series! He's half-youkai half-human and lives in the Human Village. His power is basically being able to tell what items do, though he can arrive at wrong conclusions. One of the few characters that 45:19 - This one is based on a Chinese creature that has tortoise body with the rest being of a dragon. Her power is basically draining will to resist her, which is why refusing her offer gives you a hefty penalty. 52:15 - Konpaku Youmu, who's a half-human half-ghost and basically very good with sword -(I AM THE STORM THAT IS APPROACHING)-. Bodyguard of Saigyouji Yuyuko (though Yuyuko is strong enough herself). Also works as a gardener and swordsmanship instructor. Funny how she shows up like 3 minutes later in an event. 59:04 - Kawashiro Nitori, another kappa. Her power is typical of kappa, being able to control water. She's an engineer and basically reverse engineers things from the Outside World to then sell them to others in Gensokyo. 1:02:31 - Speaking of Yuyuko, it's her! Her story is a bit of sad, as she reacted really badly to her powers (manipulation of death and souls) and more or less killed herself... and then forgot about it. She's currently a ghost that most likely died somewhere in the 12th century given what we know. Despite all of this, currently Yuyuko is actually very friendly and a bit of a mischievous prankster. She can be very cunning when she wants to though, and in fact has guessed some things before others (including the otherwise very well informed Yukari). 1:14:45 - Ah yes, Watatsuki Toyohime. She's the only characte ron this list to not appear in the games at all, and instead shows up in the manga. Basically one of the princesses of the Lunarians. 1:15:07 - Look it's -burgerfairy- Clownpiece. Famous for being... quite a difficult boss. She's basically a hell fairy. Why she's dressed like the American flag and poses like Statue of Liberty? Cause she wants to taunt the Lunarians (who thought humans were invading them during the Apollo missions). 1:19:44 - Sumireko, who's basically just a high schooler from the outside world with psychic powers that happens to have been involved in Gensokyo stuff. 1:20:25 - Nazrin, a mouse youkai that can find sought for items (which is what she does for you here). 1:25:24 - Eiki Shiki, Yamaxanadu (that last part is her title). A yama, or basically Buddhist judge of the dead. Her power is to judge you for things... in a completely "black and white only" scale. 1:33:36 - Doremy Sweet (the first character with Western name order) who basically manages the dream world. Her power is to create and eat dreams. She's a baku, which are tapir-like creatures (the Pokemon Drowzee is based on them as well). 1:44:53 - Kijin Seija, the protagonist of Impossible Spell Card. Her abiltiy is to turn over anything into its opposite state (the one time she's a boss she can rotate your screen). Being an amanojaku, she's basically a spirit of being a fucking contrarian and contradictions. She also possesses some items that help her dodge spell cards. Kinda funny that this is how the run dies. On cards you also have: Ibuki Suika, Chen, Horikawa Raiko (the one character on the cards I forgot existed :v), Nagae Iku, Hong Meiling, Hijiri Byakuren, Kazami Yuuka, Remilia Scarlet (another Western name order), Lyrica Prismriver (also western), Inubashiri Momiji, Miko Toyosatomimi.
