It's also worth mentioning that the game is being translated into multiple languages by the community. Right now, besides English, the game is being translated to Polish (by me), Russian, Japanese, Spanish, Portuguese, Korean, French, and Turkish
It's crazy how far Touhou fan games have come over the years. I love the aesthetic of this one in particular. I'm not much of a deck builder game person, but that's mostly for a lack of trying them. After seeing this video, I'm definitely grabbing it when I have time to play it.
As a Slay the Spire fan, I find it absolutely _hilarious_ that not only does the game take it's genre (and a ton else cough) from Slay the Spire, but it seems to directly take some mechanics and cards from pre-existing Touhou Mods for Slay the Spire. For example, the Marisa mod for Slay the Spire starts with a Mini Hakkero that gives you Charge-up whenever you play a card, and when you get 8 charge-up, you do double damage. While Marisa in this game starts with a Mini Hakkero which gives you charge whenever you spend red energy, and when you get 8 charge, you do double damage.
After getting an insane infinitely drawing plasma deck with the defect, I've been loving deck builders, and this looks like lots of fun, will check it out
I fell in love with this game since I saw it on your Archive channel and been just as addicted to it. Just like Slay the Spire its just fun figuring out the right synergies to dominate your foes.
I love this game, and one of my favorite things to do is to build snowball decks with time pulse and knives. I recently made a variation of it that's... actually nigh unkillable once it gets going, on top of time pulse doing more and more damage the longer the battle goes on and the more throwing knives I get. It's great.
Actually, My Red Reimu deck had the same shtick (philosopher stone {specifically the Carry over part} + Celestial Flight+ {my favourite card lol} + Freeflight+ {more Philosopher mana every turn} + Ibuki Gourd {draw a card as soon as I hit zero}) = Infinite Combo (but I had Rabbit foot and 2 misfortune cards stop it from being that) Also Battle Stance+ is STRONG, also Evil Exterminate turning my Hyper-Offence into an even Stronger Hyper-offence, Dichromatic Lotus Butterfly making every defence action rack up damage and also making me an unstoppable wall. Sorry that this is jumbled, I’m tired AF (even though it was my second run).
I played Slay The Spire and really liked it. Deck building rouge-like is so addictive. Now This game was like a breath of fresh air for me. It's like STS++: while STS is quite simple to understand, this game takes more complex approach, which allows you to create much cooler and crazier combos. And this is so good! This game is exactly what I was looking for in this game genre. AND IT'S A TOUHOU FAN GAME!
I am amazed that Touhou fan games creators managed to make games that may become main representative of their genre (an other one I can think of is Luna Night, but metroidvania games already have a ton of competitors). I have stoped playing after managing my 1st Lunatic run (with potion Marisa), because I want to play with more options (AKA wait Cirno/Koishi so that exhibits with their mana are available and play with these colors/cards with the first trio). I am kind of a classic player so I am afraid to touch it, but the game has a ton of customization you can choose from to make a ton of different experiences. This game is a great Touhou representative : a lot of references that are not necessary (I love the event dialogues and interaction). A very large amount of different gameplat so that each ennemy/boss can have their own way to be disruptive and competiting, according to their personality/powers. Can this game be an entry for Touhou ?
You don't have to follow the intended way to play. But because you also get Random cards bound to the seed you play on. Sometimes. You strait up Can't follow the intended playstyle of your deck. And it makes the game that much more fun in my opinion.
That’s my main issue with slay the spire. I’m not given the freedom to do whatever seems fun. If I want to play the whole game as “Random card bullshit Reimu” I have a lot of options for it. With the Alice card, Breaking boundaries, and like 4 other cards and can finish the run
Hmm, it looks good but it's gonna be a hard sell for me when it costs more than Slay the Spire and it's still in early access, without mod support and with obviously less content. That 20% discount ain't gonna cut it for me. Edit. Since you mentioned that it's your first game in the genre and you might want to play Slay the Spire next, i might as well recommend another game. Chrono Ark. It's a combination of Slay the Spire and Darkest Dungeon 2 with an anime aesthetic. You might find it interesting.
My second run (and first successful one) kinda ended up being a tank while also being an Ultra-offensive deck (I tried to play Marisa {Played by Reimu}). The Philosopher stone + gaining Philosopher Mana makes ultra big combos easy. Especially with Ibuki Gourd (adds a card to your hand when you run out of cards), and the Bicycle (upgrades a certain type of card)
Oh, I was playing as intended all along -_- (Red Reimu) Still extra fun though. Also I think it may have made me scared of even taking 5 damage to the healthbar
HOLY MOLY! I just got into Library of Ruina (a card game similar to this and slay the spire) so THIS coming out? Hoo boy... Thank you for covering this, man! Oh, and if you're interested, you should get into Library of Ruina as well. Though it's not touhou related, the music is just as bangin' in my opinion, and so is the gameplay! Edit: I bought the game, and it's really good!
this game fucking OWNS. already put a ridiculous amount of time into it. hope you enjoy slay the spire when you check it out, i'm sure folks have recommended the touhou mods already :)
After 25 hours unlocking all reimu’s cards and beating all difficulty (didn’t beat it with the check marks on lunatic, feels impossible, although I’m sure it is achievable, working on it). It is more forgiving and less luck based (not that much, but there are more consistency) compared to slay the spire.
Of all the games in this genre, I prefer "One Step from Eden" alot more than most other ones, it's more action-packed and requires more skill. I'm probably gonna wait for Lostbranch to get out of EA before giving it a go myself.
I played my first ever Touhou game on Xbox. You play as the maid with knifes and can slow down time and even stop it. You can throw a lot of knifes like Dio from jojo. I still never finished it because it was on game pass for a bit. I never knew what Tohou was frfr until Bad Apple. The game was called Touhou luner nights.
It's also worth mentioning that the game is being translated into multiple languages by the community. Right now, besides English, the game is being translated to Polish (by me), Russian, Japanese, Spanish, Portuguese, Korean, French, and Turkish

Well, it straight up lifts cards from StS, too (Apotheosis, for example). If it ain't broke, don't fix it, I suppose.
@@Totallynotkyubey Yeah, so I've heard. That's the biggest complaint I've heard about the game, a lack of original content.

You can get Green Mana using certain starting exhibits. Back door is one of em off the top of my head
@@eagletanker Yeah but they are rare.
If you can choose Cirno or Koishi as a 1st Act Boss, you have more chance to have their relics with their mana.
