Jeez, a busy afternoon for Niedzwiedtz. As his Bathurst performances showed, he was an absolute master at taming the Cossie, but boy, is he working hard there. I guess that's what a short wheelbase, narrow track, skinny tyre'd non linear power delivery'd turbo'd monster is like. Thanks for the upload. As another poster said, this was the true magic era of Touring Cars in many different championships.
@@robeddy3722 that's what happens when you have 560bhp...9" wide tyres...no traction control..and if you drop off boost..you have about 100bhp...then boom...560..once it comes back on...difficult to drive..yes ..to get the best out of it it needs to look unstable and uncomfortable...
What a shame this coverage is from one of the 'Mickey Mouse' layouts at Hockenheim. On the proper full circuit the Fords would have had the opportunity to really release all of their power. Also, I think this is Klaus Niedzwiedz at the second round of the 1988 season, aboard his Texaco backed Ringhausen run car. Note that this is not the same version as run in the 1988 ETCC by Eggenberger. The ETCC regulations allowed all cars to run without the added weight and turbo restrictors that the DTM rules used to keep 'parity'. Australia, Japan and Britain also ran to fully open FIA rules, and the true difference in performance between the makes was obvious.
Faszination pur...da will ich gleich ne Runde Forza 4 fahren *-* Wie zackig der immer gegenlenkt, um nicht zu übersteuern. Der hat nach dem Rennen bestimmt Muskelkater in den Armen XD
The glory days of motorsport! Thank you very much for the video!
Good old days!
The golden era!
I saw a couple DTM races there in 1985/6. Was stationed just down the A6 in Mannheim! 🏁 Vielen Dank!
Absolut am Limit... meine Güte!
Und für die damalige Zeit unheimlich gute Quali der Onboardaufnahmen

That thing looks like it handles like a bag of cats. NEVER under control. Just...point, shoot and hope for the best.

Das war das beste DTM Jahr
La época dorada del DTM, M3 E 30, 190 cosworth, sierra cosworth.....
great onboard. the short track sure wasn’t back then haha, I’m looking at the embankments and trees at the edge of the track.
Proper touring car racing !!!
Tolle Idee Herr Gerner!!!
Die Deutsche Tourenwagen Meisterschaft (bis 1995) war wunderbar. Die heutige DTM ist langweilig.
Sierra The Best...
De Gü apart from the bmw in front🤗

This version of the track definitely suited the M3’s better.

if you watch attentively you can see moving his left food while shifting ... so , yes they needed to clutch
thats what my xr4ti sounds like in reverse
No :p
Your merkur have the gears worn out or the direct, very common issue in the H5 gearbox if you don't fill it with the specific oil
did they have to clutch to shift? or was it still clutchless shifting
There’s no way he can keep up with Klaus Ludwig! 😮😮😮
good point! :P
This wouldn't happen to be the Texaco Ford Sierra Cosworth?
@ManuelC572 Straight cut gears :D
Tilke - lamer. DTM needed gp version of that track
