This game demonstrated very well one of my greatest frustrations with other players in HoTs. A team that doesn't press for a team fight over something important when they have a clear hard advantage, but will press for a team fight over something unimportant (or even nothing) without any advantage. Thankfully your team wasn't that bad, but you articulate the point of "we should be doing X buy instead where doing Y" and did an A+ job of adjusting.
people seem to do what their opponents want. Naturally they wouldn't go for fights when their enemy is vulnerable, better to fight the enemy at their strongest for no reason. After all that's what the enemy team wants.
Actually I wanted to thank you NotParadox for teaching me how to control minions in the Greymane video. I would usually go clear asap the enemy minions to get the exp, while actually what I was doing was sending my minions to the enemy turrets(aka giving free and fast exp to the enemy). Now I actually delay , wait for my minions, clear the enemy enemy wave, and send at least one and a half wave of minions to the enemy turrets = more dmg and less exp to them.
@Jared Bailey I wrote that before the exp globes update. Right now, lane control is even more important. Especially when enemy wave is closer to your towers. You can completely deprive them of exp now.

I get that, part of the reason I am doing this is to show people "Even in hots you can make a difference with bad teams." Learn what to do at the right time. He explains the best options for Alterac in the video moment by moment. Each map has different timings, rotations, bosses, camps and objectives which have varying amounts of value. There is usually always a #1 option for you and/or your team to be doing at the moment based on stage of the game, composition and if you picked off any enemies. You can win a lot of games solely on knowing how to play the maps. In fact, it might be the most important factor next to drafting.
Furthermore, NP makes it a point that if your team isn't doing what you called out, despite it being the best option, you don't want to commit to it alone. Just fall back and submit to whatever strategy your team is going for at the moment. Sometimes you need to accept that at low ranks your team wont always play the correct way. You just need to do your best to not tilt them and wait for the correct moment to make a game changing play.
And lastly, you won't win every game you play. At any rank. No matter how good you are. HotS matchmaking is busted and only gets worse with a diminishing player pool. Not only that, but it is not a great game for hard carrying. There is no gold/item economy and there is team shared experience. Without teamwork, you only have what your hero + talents give you to work with. If you have any teammates who are particularly bad in comparison to the rest of the match, you are at a disadvantage and they might make a game losing mistake more often than another player. The one way to mitigate losing in the circumstance of bad teammates is selecting a hero which is capable of carrying (i.e: high killing potential or other game changing aspects like ability to double soak XP or crank out camps/bosses). I am a master player and I was able to get a smurf account to platinum in 2 days just by playing Jaina as she can kill waves with 1 blizzard, do siege camps very easily with ice lance at lvl 7 and performs very well with high burst AOE teamfight abilties. Just find a couple characters that you can make big plays on in MOST matchups and stick to those to give yourself the best chance to carry bad teammates.

Would you say Dagger build is higher DPS overall? (like against groups) Or is this build the higher DPS? I find that anytime I build without the dagger quest and the festering wounds that I don't get enough damage in.
I'm near master (3 wins off). I like dagger build, but it is way more bursty and has way less sustain. It looks like the Q build has a lot more sustain. Also, this is just me, but I love quests as it gives me something to do and aim for.
The only thing I learned from this video (for what I thank you) is that I'm using my abilities way too often on Sylv (so no wonder I'm having mana problems quite often). Otherwise, this is a suboptimal build IMO. I usually pick the standard semi-pro build (T1131224) and consistently get to both top siege/XP and hero damage in the match. It has superior waveclear (I can't think of any other hero that can destroy a wave - including huge double or triple waves - in literally 2 seconds like you can do here), survivability (double E, life drain and bolt of the storm) and hero damage.
Stacking quest punishes you for taking camps and catching waves. The common theme with these heroes is to gain little advantages early, which either snowball into something bigger over time or at least break the fall of your earlier losses/throws. It's not as bad as Nazeebo, but it's the same principle. Yes, the dps of a stacked level 20+ Nazeebo is unholy, but getting there without your team folding over is the hard part. "Might of the Banshee Queen" gives 30% spell damage and attack speed and all it takes is pressing Q and waiting 1.5 seconds. Considering Sylvanas' other abilities also have travel time, it's more like waiting one second, though. Attack speed is even more useful because the trait can be stacked faster and allows for more crits once three stacks have been reached. Those 30% also increase the life you can leech because of the increased damage dealt. It's also important to note that it affects the damage of Wailing Arrow as well while a lot of similar talents on other heroes got the "only affects basic abilities treatment" after a rework. It should definitely be enough damage to 100-0 non-tanks in the lategame.
Why do you pick q at 7 over W? I think W cdr just blows up teams and q kind of makes it harder to use my q as in it can't change targets or it's a wasted pick
@@ErnestHemingwayy TL:DR: Don't pick Sylvanas if Kael'Thas isn't banned or on your team. Other ranged assassins have better tools to deal with him. Sylvanas doesn't have a spell shield talent. The time it takes to channel Pyroblast is enough time to interrupt it with Wailing Arrow. Try to stay in your healer's range without taking further damage. That's about it. If your team doesn't have abilities which grant (spell) armor, (damage) immunity or at least damage reduction to be applied to Kael'Thas, then your team probably derped in draft. In general, not banning Kael'Thas when your team doesn't have first pick is already considered a good reason to get tilted by many low league players. While mobility is nice, even with Windrunner, you'd probably only need to be around the wall of your Keeps to get into the Hall of Storms in time. Sylvanas can cover great distances with Banshees if she doesn't run in the same direction, but the Banshees themselves travel at maybe 130% base speed. Trying to outheal it after level 16 usually won't work out because to deal that damage you're also close enough to receive more damage from the enemy team.
So you need to out damage him. Use the W build. Once you get good at it you can do combo of banshee curse wave (level 7)and the W quest (level 1) which multiples damage to whomever is cursed and adds attack damage at the same time. Pyro blast is hard to beat. You need to stay in high health with him on the map. That's what I do. Frequent heals, using the arrow for silence works too if you're low on health and he is near then haunting wave and a W then he melts away. Learning to read the situation. Best of luck
@Order & Chaos 7 depends aswell, u can go also for cd reduction against double frontline or like garrosh or something. on 10 mostly wailling arrow, mind control is a bit tricky but can be played .
This build pretty easy unlike the haunting wave build. Q-ing then porting then Q-ing is pretty hard, but have a huge burst dmg however only masters can deal with it.
I don't play sylv a lot but I think it depends on the enemy comp. If they have multiple frontliners then W build is going to stack up generously, if they have a lot of mobility that you may have a lot of difficulty landing a W on, then go with Q build.
This is the problem with how they nerfed Sylvanas: yes she dominates against low ranked, basically new players, but she's basically worthless against middle to veteran teams in any game mode. The way they nerfed her damage across the board is pretty disgusting.
nice vid, i was looking for a solid backline dmg lately to fill my roster of heroes who i would primarily pick (if needed)... i liked Jaina and Zuljin but they have both no escape.. really interested in sylv now :D nice vid man thanks :D
communicate your plans.. you won't believe how well games go if you do.. assuming your team will instinctively do what you want is not going to happen and leave you in a pissed off state =P
I get owned with Sylvanas, no matter what the build. Seems every time I play her, I get hooked and eaten by stitches, pyro'd by KT or owned by the myriad of other heroes that can beat her down.
In all honesty... I'm a bit disheartened, I'm just collecting loss after loss in ranked and losing ranks like nothing. Now, I always try my best, whatever the role, but it all seems useless. I guess I'n just not good enough to carry? The probelm is, yeah I make mistakes, I'm not perfect, but I really can't see what I can do to counter very very bad teammates.... if I pick heal, the dps feeds with 0 kills, I pick tank, same, I try pushers, the team keeps engaging 4v5, I dps the tank dies 15 times....

Dota 2 is a f.ckfest, broken beyond the point of no return. Never play DotA 2, from a player with 4k hours on it, and played the original since 2005. I wasted so much time on that game to see it die. Never again to that thrash.
Where were you ranked at. I pretty sure bronze and plat are not the same. I played up from gold 5 (use to be GM level during beta of game and quit) and now sitting a few wins off from master. The quality in play from bronze to plat is much different. The main problem with Plat players is that they think they are good because they have good micro skills in many instances, but their macro sucks.
You mean DotA monocle. It's not orb walking if there's no orb abilities. You never draw aggro from creeps or towers by attacking enemy heroes in HotS. You aIways do in LoL. With no orb abilities it's all stutter stepping.
Wait what is this? Teams thanking their healer? Varians asking if the team wants him to go taunt or collosus instead of immediately picking twin blades and running into the enemy team? Are you really sure you are playing low ranks?
To be honest, all of your team members were excellent. Aside from a bad decision or sub-optimal micro here and there, they were far beyond typical silver players, especially in terms of teamplay.
Usualy my team looks like your enemy team in every video like this, my team not gonna stay as one or something, just going and die for no reason then blame others, if i had team like yours every game i wouldnt be a silver
I use the q build but I dont pay sylvanas like this at all, my comp my friends and I run includes sylvanas, naz, Morales, tyreal or arthas, and artanis or varian. Then we kill a fort bot or top, then at 10 fly to a keep, then win when we all come back. Each game we've done this we've won in about 8 minutes
I remember solo queing into a four man that hated warhead junction so they introduced me to cheesing. Except they used Gul'dan rather than Naz. Rain of Destruction after hitting his entire W (especially if his quest happens to be done) can do a ton for cheesing.
Look, i like your content, but your assumption is bullshit! I play her in lowrank and i do not own cause im actually lowrank! If course you can win with everything if you are smurfing.
TL:DR: Heroes get bursted down way faster in lategame and the longer death timers don't help. One hero down often means giving up a keep. Two heroes down and there's a good chance the match is over. It is, though. Especially in the later stages, death timers are just too long to justify even one death. Not only are the death timers longer, but teamfights become more volatile as force multipliers (e.g. Smash Varian) and other damage talents (and ults) are picked by both teams. Even without considering that, both the level-based boni to max HP and damage (physical+spell) scale 4% up per level. If it's a 1v1, fine. Any time more than one hero attacks the same target, the damage bonus outpaces the max HP bonus, adding to the burst potential. Long story short, don't bait your yourself or your team into outnumbered fights in the lategame. In the early- and midgame, you can trade forts and keeps and compensate for a bad fight. That doesn't work if they can threaten core, though. It's pretty dangerous to split up after level 16 and even more after level 20. Regardless of who dies, your team loses map presence until that hero is back, or they risk the match by taking an outnumbered fight.
Cool vids but it's SO HARD TO FOLLOW U because ur camera positioning is... smth special... U can't see a thing. It feels like u struggle with moving ur camera. It's really annoying Use Spacebar more and panning
Man, you just lost a LOT of time at that camp trying to do it at lvl 3 and failing, meanwhile you could be pushing the same lane you were, maybe get down one tower, and come back with lvl 4 to do the camp. And also you could have done it right if you just tanked them the right way, having one of the mercs rotating all the time so he doesnt hit you, this is accomplished by being at the wall everytime and moving. If you want to make a video on how to play the right way, maybe edit those fails out? Just a suggestion.
Noone is perfect, showing how to play Sylvanas flawless is just not an accurate representation and doesn't help anyone. Also, if he does that mistake, all other people watching won't be doing it any longer.
@@Serenity23582 That would be the case if he actually said that he did it wrong, but he didn't, so a beginner will jump at a camp too early and do it bad, you should NEVER go to base/take fountain when you are doing a camp, if you can't do it on your own, ask someone for help and do it between 2 people.
I am not going to edit out mistakes. I even say it was a mistake. No one plays 100% perfect and me switching heroes every game makes it hard to remember when people can do what. Also to the point of "you can kite around the minions" you could also just let them channel 70% then auto once. But when the enemies show up it's better to have fewer of them alive so you don't mess up during the heat of a fight."
This video shows nothing about how to use this hero. It's just about how you do ridiculous damage to people. Again nothing how to use her or her talents.
Doing ridiculous damage is kind of Sylvanas' thing after her rework, though. If he wanted to style on them, he could've stacked Shadow Dagger damage quickly thanks superior stutterstep mechanics and chunked their whole team starting at lvl 7, because he knows positioning better than them, meaning he's more likely to survive even without having Banshees (Haunting Wave) ready for escape. That'd probably look cooler, but if a random Silver player tries to learn from that they'll usually get chunked so hard each time that they're useless after the first wave, if they make it out alive. Besides, as much as teamfights are important, they can be avoided early on outside of objectives. Sylvanas was picked as showcase because she has good waveclear and good campclear on top of her teamfight damage. All that while Haunted Wave is one of the most reliable escapes if you remember to use it early enough. Ideally, you want to stay healthy enough to continue fighting.

There is a HUGE difference in telling people what to do in game and having people voluntarily come to a video to learn. You ever have someone randomly get mad at you for picking a wrong talent? You ever want to just respond "It's the right talent, and you are wrong?" Yeah I don't really like saying anything in chat that will get my team typing. I always want everyone to play the way they are comfortable playing. It's easiest to carry when everyone is comfortable and you do the heavy lifting.

Why do you pick q at 7 over W? I think W cdr just blows up teams and q kind of makes it harder to use my q as in it can't change targets or it's a wasted pick
He wanted burst and pick potential, and that's what q gives. W is sustained dps.
Q scales better with the Q at 20, and it works on camps and structures.
How to play Sylvanas against Kaelthas? He just pyroblasts me to Oblivion each time we meet
spell shield talent (if Sylv has one) and get the two E talent so you can get away as much as possible then mount up.
Best of luck
what does level 1 quest build look like?
@Order & Chaos 7 depends aswell, u can go also for cd reduction against double frontline or like garrosh or something. on 10 mostly wailling arrow, mind control is a bit tricky but can be played .
Maybe when you said fal to mid they thought you misspelled 'all'. lol
This build pretty easy unlike the haunting wave build. Q-ing then porting then Q-ing is pretty hard, but have a huge burst dmg however only masters can deal with it.
Can't carry as Sylvanas, my team decides to feed from the start and after they're 3 levels down at min 10 it's game over.
which build is better on Plat? W or Q build?
Gabriel Abdi q is safer in plat
It is comp and map dependent. Only pick W if you think you are going to get shitload of stacks.
I don't play sylv a lot but I think it depends on the enemy comp. If they have multiple frontliners then W build is going to stack up generously, if they have a lot of mobility that you may have a lot of difficulty landing a W on, then go with Q build.
none.
It depends on comp. If your brainlessly always pick all W or Q you're going to lose. Pick a Talent to counter others, not to play your way.
u dont like globes ?
Great video! I love your channel, man!
thx for the great videos man, really enjoying to watch them. Of course also learning a lot ;)
Can you remake the guides that need to be updated
very nice guide bro! :)
This is the problem with how they nerfed Sylvanas: yes she dominates against low ranked, basically new players, but she's basically worthless against middle to veteran teams in any game mode. The way they nerfed her damage across the board is pretty disgusting.
No guide is good enough if 1-2 teammates are AFK, or throw pick because they don't get their hero.

I use to always tell people that, people would branch away get mad
And i always said the same
“Do what the team does, even if its wrong”
nice vid, i was looking for a solid backline dmg lately to fill my roster of heroes who i would primarily pick (if needed)... i liked Jaina and Zuljin but they have both no escape.. really interested in sylv now :D
nice vid man thanks :D
i'd love to see Nazeebo and Kel'Thuzad in this series
Make one on Yrel. Nobody plays her it seems. Looks like throwing with her is very easy.
New player here and loving the tips
awesome video!! but if only I played sylvanas...
Awesome video.
I need a guide to play with these all free heroe for noobs event.... my mmr is going so low with this
I can't believe how much usefull is this video
caps set to PTT is the story of my life
communicate your plans.. you won't believe how well games go if you do.. assuming your team will instinctively do what you want is not going to happen and leave you in a pissed off state =P
Is this a reference to Sylvannas being completely OP in WoW lately?
ruclips.net/video/s4gBChg6AII/видео.html
Just a hodge podge of different ranks, some gold, bronze, several silver, one grand master. You know just a good random spread. lol
Attack move is your friend.
I get owned with Sylvanas, no matter what the build. Seems every time I play her, I get hooked and eaten by stitches, pyro'd by KT or owned by the myriad of other heroes that can beat her down.
Great strategy tips as always!
smart early laning strats.
Watching NP, Fan, and Grubby destroy silvers makes me never want to play ranked lol
Watch some of Fan's videos, no, study his videos. I finally got top hero dmg as Valla, and it has taken a hot minute to get to that point.
@@Paigeousness which is still fucking useless when you are forced to play with primitive apes what are not able to comprehend simple commands or pings. These proofs of Darwin's theory are exact reason why I hate people. Most of the people in HotS or even in LoL are demented pricks after lobotomy. Its nice to think that you can carry anything. But those parodies on people HAVE to allow you to do it. If they will trolling, you can do ahit about that.
Love this game. But i hate it at the same time. I need to find a new game so i can stop playing this one. Sad but the ranks and mmr is BS in Heroes of the storm. Bronze or plat is the same thing. Ppl that cant draft or ban or even soak. Ppl that dont know that you DONT fight if you are behind at lvl 9 when they are at 10. Love evetything else about this game. But i cant stand the ppl i get grouped up with. All my friends (9 of them) stoped played a year ago. Was better then but still.... we got alot of ''Nova first picks'' solo players. Please, give me Diablo 4 quickly! Still watching all your vids @NotParadox and listening to the podcast - Into The Nexus. Keep up the good work. And hope for a TOTAL rework on the rankingsystem!
Go play dota 2
Dota 2 is a f.ckfest, broken beyond the point of no return. Never play DotA 2, from a player with 4k hours on it, and played the original since 2005. I wasted so much time on that game to see it die. Never again to that thrash.
@@UnfairRampage how's it broken?
Where were you ranked at. I pretty sure bronze and plat are not the same. I played up from gold 5 (use to be GM level during beta of game and quit) and now sitting a few wins off from master. The quality in play from bronze to plat is much different. The main problem with Plat players is that they think they are good because they have good micro skills in many instances, but their macro sucks.
NotSmurf xD good nick
Stutter-Step?
:Puts on League of Legends Monocle:
Good sir, I do believe you mean 'Orb-Walking' hmmmm yes.
I used to say stutter step in league too.
Like, 4 years ago
Yea, that was what I called it as well. Apparently 'orb-walking' is a hold over term from DOTA or something.
It was called stutter-step in starcraft.
You mean DotA monocle. It's not orb walking if there's no orb abilities.
You never draw aggro from creeps or towers by attacking enemy heroes in HotS. You aIways do in LoL. With no orb abilities it's all stutter stepping.
Wtf low gold sliver and bronze how
Love your vids. I'm horrible at playing Sylvanas but maybe you can make me better, Cheers!
Wait what is this? Teams thanking their healer? Varians asking if the team wants him to go taunt or collosus instead of immediately picking twin blades and running into the enemy team? Are you really sure you are playing low ranks?
pretty much every heroes are good in low league.
hey loved played with you what's your game name?
NotSmurf
lul
(watching rn Syl is one of my assassin dream mains)
Last season I had something like 80 wins 14 loss with Sylvanas in upper master, the W build is broken.
Sylvy girl ♡♡♡
"What I mean for playing consistent is..." wait for 20 to fight
To be honest, all of your team members were excellent. Aside from a bad decision or sub-optimal micro here and there, they were far beyond typical silver players, especially in terms of teamplay.
Does anyone else have an innate urge to immediately hit enter and type gg when you watch the game finish up in the video? lol
Maybe they judge your calls on face of you being in silver in this video, but I think they don't think much of it because of your nickname. :^)
👍😎
Usualy my team looks like your enemy team in every video like this, my team not gonna stay as one or something, just going and die for no reason then blame others, if i had team like yours every game i wouldnt be a silver
THE BRONZE IS NOTHING
I was more expectnig Sylvanas tips rather than not so nice comments about your teammates :/
I use the q build but I dont pay sylvanas like this at all, my comp my friends and I run includes sylvanas, naz, Morales, tyreal or arthas, and artanis or varian. Then we kill a fort bot or top, then at 10 fly to a keep, then win when we all come back. Each game we've done this we've won in about 8 minutes
this is cheese.
but it works
I remember solo queing into a four man that hated warhead junction so they introduced me to cheesing. Except they used Gul'dan rather than Naz. Rain of Destruction after hitting his entire W (especially if his quest happens to be done) can do a ton for cheesing.
Smurfers are the worst
This is a PVEgame
Stutter stepping for no reason makes no sense. You can't avoid taking damage so why? You're doing less dps
Better show to us how to easy win against idiots in your team, which r loosing 4v2. Or left top lane for enemy, till he destroy 2nd fort. Show it!
Dude - atop your self... You are not using Sylvanas or Greymane to stomp - you are simply a GM smurfing and destroying the game for every1 els...
falstad mid. all go mid xD
I feel like NotParadox is slowly devolving into clickbaiter and clickbaiter titles at this point
Look, i like your content, but your assumption is bullshit! I play her in lowrank and i do not own cause im actually lowrank! If course you can win with everything if you are smurfing.
Wow this build sucks... seriously^^
I find it really rather irritating that following your team when they're doing something stupid is considered good advice.
Yeah, I wasn't disputing it. I just hate the fact that it's true, cuz it means I need to follow along with whatever dumb thing my team is doing.
Cool vids but it's SO HARD TO FOLLOW U because ur camera positioning is... smth special... U can't see a thing. It feels like u struggle with moving ur camera. It's really annoying
Use Spacebar more and panning
You are in point but imagine trying to comment thinghs quick while playing a game to show ppl how to use Sylv correctly and not waste anytime
@@NikaSG Well yeah true..He doesnt really ever admit mistakes on his part.
This is hardly impressive. The other team played like shit :D
Lol You don’t have a clue how low ranks work and ‘how to smurf’ is not useful for anyone playing in lower ranks. You don’t know what is possible in low ranks for a low ranked player because you are not a low ranked players. All your doing here is feeding the idea to people that smurfing is a ok thing. Its not. The entire video you gave just 2 bits of information that are actually useful. Please go back to making good content.
how can this have 1 view and 2 likes hahahaha first comment
1:14 This is a channel, which a lot of newer players will watch for guidance. And the first thing you show them is ignorance towards your own team? One of the things that loses games? That's just really arrogant to be honest.
Apart from that the video is really good and the things you learn in terms of map awareness are huuuge!!
I'm a new player and I don't think like this. With this, I saw some mistakes I was making in my low rankeds... To be honest I really like the format of the video.
@@NotParadox Well the point I want to make is, that you shouldn't make an example of ignoring your teammate asking for a contructive opinion.
@@lucasegberto3691 The format of the video was pretty good actually, as I indirectly stated in my response to my own comment.
