lol one of my cats does this, too, it's hilarious! Most cats react like this to some degree when you pet their lower backs, just above the tail. There are a lot of nerve endings there, it's just a normal reaction. They love it.
My cat stood up & started meowing at the screen-I may not get it, but my cat does. Thanks for posting-interesting evening watching replays of this with the cat!
When we had our cat Blitzen (a cat from my childhood which we had from 1987 until she crossed the rainbow bridge in 2005), she started making these noises sometime in 1998, and the first time I heard it, I was calling for my mom, telling her that something was wrong with Blitzen. Soon the sounds stopped, and Blitzen had barfed out whatever she had eaten. Ugh.
I don't know, My cat had a carpet fiber stuck in her nasal cavity and she made a noise like this. The looking up and shaking it's head may indicate that. No hissing, nothing like that.
you can actually see in the video the hands of the person in the video gently rubbing or tickling the base of the cats tail. cats are extremely sensitive and tickly in that spot, hence why its making the funny noise. so its certainly not having a seizure or panic attack or anything, just to reassure those who thought the cat was in distress. my cats loves me tickling or brushing the base his tail and he makes the same sounds.
someone is scrathing his back, it may seems weird but thats how this cat shows he is enjoying it (not all cats do that, its like scratching a dog's belly, some shake the paws, some dont)
It does also remind me of the noise some cats will make if you scratch their back. The sound to me suggests that it's irritated or agitated, no necessarily in pain, but those who just dismiss the concerns of others are really being arrogant.
I had a 3 year old cat die on me from thrombosis a few months ago. Thrombosis is VERY painful. The cat made strange noises, but it did not bite me, claw or scratch at me. It hissed once, probably at its imaginary attacker. Cats have a very high tolerance for pain and they bite / scratch / claw or run away from internal injuries.
It does kind of remind me of how some cats respond to getting too much catnip or the "trilling" noise they make when they see birds. If it's excited, I suspect it might also be annoyed or agitated.
hes rubbing the cats lower spine where it connects to the tail. its packed with nerves and leaves the feline unable to curve around and lick the pain...hence the distraught licking activity it is displaying. and yes....its very painful.
my cats do this too just before they are about to barf up a hairball. i don't believe the cat is in pain, indeed, any cat would simply scratch or run away.
He's scratching the cat's back at the base of its tail ... almost all cats will throw their heads back, work their jaws, and sometimes vocalize; most cats LOVE this kind of scratching ... definitely all of mine do!
We had a cat who would do this same exact thing if you scratched the base of her tail. Not in any pain, just felt good and vocalized it. Cats loved to have the base of thier tails scratched. I dont know what cat that dont. All of my cats love it.
It somewhat reminds me of over-exposure to catnip. Some cats will also make strange noises when scratched on the back. It doesn't seem happy, though I don't believe it's actually in pain.
was just depressed because some girl rejected me now watching this made my night now all of a sudden I aint so depressed no more

Bitches come and go, bruh..

I'm a cat owner, and if that cat's in any discomfort he's probably only slightly annoyed. He doesn't look like he's in pain :3
They do that when you scratch their backs.

I just love that miaow at the start

he is triying to tell you there is never enough hair spray idea:give him a hair dresser for christmas
I was most impressed that it could make those audience laughter noises.
I always thought it was because cats can't normally reach that spot anyways, so it just feels really good and drives them crazy when someone does it.
I was still in my mother's uterus when this was posted.
I had a cat who did that. He's okay. He's funny as heck.
I don't know, My cat had a carpet fiber stuck in her nasal cavity and she made a noise like this. The looking up and shaking it's head may indicate that. No hissing, nothing like that.
I love how the cat says "LOL LOL LOL!!!!!"
thats not what its saying at all
Brings me to tears, without fail every single time. The way he just goes back to normal at the end 💀
Imagine hearing that in the middle of the night...
The part above their tail makes them do this 😂
Looks like the cat's trying to drink air.

- hey cat, did u want to be in television?
-nononononon... nononononono
That's what your cat sounds like in reverse.
7 years: still the funniest thing on youtube. XD
When the pets get too good:
someone is scrathing his back, it may seems weird but thats how this cat shows he is enjoying it (not all cats do that, its like scratching a dog's belly, some shake the paws, some dont)
It does also remind me of the noise some cats will make if you scratch their back. The sound to me suggests that it's irritated or agitated, no necessarily in pain, but those who just dismiss the concerns of others are really being arrogant.

I think that cat had a mental problem..that is not normal
Quick! Get me an old priest and a young priest!
This animal is slowly getting tortured to death, with live studio audience laughter in the background.
he is scratching him above the beggining of his tale
hes rubbing the cats lower spine where it connects to the tail. its packed with nerves and leaves the feline unable to curve around and lick the pain...hence the distraught licking activity it is displaying. and yes....its very painful.
If every alarm-clock played this..
Sounds like my 15 month old cousin
You are sooo scratching that cats back I have done this many times with cats lol XDDD
I'll see you in 2026
This is what happens when your cat discovers your stash of crack! Funny video!
My neighbour's cat does that when she likes how she's being petted.
This cat has the holy spirit.
my cats do this too just before they are about to barf up a hairball. i don't believe the cat is in pain, indeed, any cat would simply scratch or run away.

He's calling his alien counter parts.
Cats, indeed, tends to let out typically same voice as a baby cries.
2 reasons for this
1. he's choking on his milk
2. He's trying to lick his nose
We had a cat who would do this same exact thing if you scratched the base of her tail. Not in any pain, just felt good and vocalized it. Cats loved to have the base of thier tails scratched. I dont know what cat that dont. All of my cats love it.
that cat is not in pain, it is excited.
My old cat did this too. Whenever you scratch the sweet spot on her back. x3
That sounds like the cat is having a period.
14 years ago.. is the cat still alive
Prob not Lmao
It's so funny and cute at the same time!
still remember on 2007 when i found this video for the first time
Methinks someone is dangling foodstuffs above this rotund kitty.
When you find out someone ate all the cookies 0:24
He's just saying 'OHHHH GOD THAT FEELS SOOO NIIIICE." XDD
this is like a kitty exorcism.
It somewhat reminds me of over-exposure to catnip. Some cats will also make strange noises when scratched on the back. It doesn't seem happy, though I don't believe it's actually in pain.
"you obviously know nothing about cats. Should this be painfull to the cat, it would try escape or attack."
