@Wilucco thanks! I will definitely be asking. I'm trying 2 builds, a ranger and a warrior for when my friends(who are older and worse than me) have someone to tank for them while they run around like children lol.
super helpful even after putting 100 hours in the game i did not know that last part about it showing 0 skill points you could spend on other weapon set thanks a bunch
Hey dude! Loving your short and straight to the point videos explaining these simple stuff. Keep on going with the good work, hope you get more viewers!
I’m on PS5 and have run into a issue where my skill points cannot be allocated to what weapon set I want freely. When I respec and make the weapon set “main” it doesn’t override it. Everything else in this video was extremely helpful
@@SetInMotion There have been a couple other console players saying they were having issues using this system as well. Unfortunately, I dont have experience with any of the console versions, so I can't really offer specific advice about how to work around your problem. I hope they make the whole thing a lot easier to use for both PC and Console as the early access continues!
@ I’ve used that but the actual node won’t change weapon sets. They stay locked onto one. I’m going to try and completely rebuy all my passive points, and rebuild from the group up
Great explanation. Do you know why they forbid you from allocating weapon set skill points to keystones and jewel sockets? Maybe there's some scenario where it's OP, but it makes no sense to me right now. It sure seems it would've been better (and much simpler) to have complete freedom like the POE 1 Atlas passive sets. Thanks for the helpful video.
Thanks, I'm glad you liked it! I think its just because it would be really OP. Something crazy like swapping in and out of Chaos Inoculation whenever you see chaos damage would be super annoying but also have potential to be really strong. As nice and simple as complete freedom would be, I think it would lead to too many things that would be really powerful but also annoying to manage
Thanks for the video, nice explanation. However, I've read and watched a number of posts and videos and nobody mentions what to do if you are playing a Monk with a Quarterstaff. No second weapon. Can you just use the points as normal points (4 in all) or am I limited to using just the Weapon 1 skill points?
They were given out as a promotional reward for people who watched the stream where GGG announced the details of the early access on Twitch last November. Unfortunately, I don't believe they are attainable anymore
What about jewel socket finding a solution for a week on reddit first respec ever and now my acc is bricker even with 100 points and matches numbers i dont have requirement met. Paying 2 divines for the solution...
@@LOjha876w6HUiBajhajsjxh What about them? Jewel sockets can't be allocated with weapon skill points. Im not sure what the reasoning is for that restriction. Maybe it would be too powerful. Maybe they just wanted some kind of limitation on how far you could go with a string of weapon skill points and that was the first thing they came up with. Either way, the fact remains that you have to spend regular skill points to pick up jewel sockets.
You are correct. If you just ignore this system, you still get the extra points and they would all apply to both weapon sets. There's nothing wrong with doing that. The purpose of the system is to let you split a skill point in half and spend it on two different things. A simple example for when someone may want to do this is a fire spell caster that wants to add cold spells to their build. They can wear a fire staff in one weapon slot and spend their weapon skill points on nodes that boost fire damage. Then, in their other weapon slot they can wear a cold staff and spend the weapon skill points on nodes that boost cold damage instead. When the player swaps from the fire weapon to the cold weapon, the useless fire nodes swap into the more useful cold nodes while they are casting the cold spells. The system exists so that players can have more flexibility in what they include in their builds. But, like I said, you don't have to use it if you don't want to.
It is weird, I agree. Bottom line, they are not extra skill points. They are an option that you can use to split up to 24 of the skill points you already have.
If your friend is playing the Witch Hunter ascendancy, then his class has a node that allows him to spend 20 extra skill points as weapon skill points. So Witch Hunters can have up to 44 weapon skill points instead of the usual 24. If he isn't playing Witch Hunter, then it's probably some kind of bug lol
@@Wilucco I think the main issue I'm having is that I'm playing on X-Box Series X and trying to allocate points using a controller doesn't seem to work right. Do players have to interact with this system, or is it okay to pretend it doesn't exist? LOL
@andrewstires2326 ahh, I haven't tried playing it on any of the consoles, so Im not sure what the answer is there. Hopefully they make it easier over time! I didn't even start using this system until late in the endgame and I was doing just fine without it. It's okay to skip for now if you want to lol
For XBOX players. Move to a skill point you can get and HOLD A instead of press. Doing this will bring up the radial menu to choose what weapon slot you want to allocate to. There are 3 choices, Main(top) WeaponSlot1(bottom-left), WeaponSlot2(bottom-right) From here just do what you need. Cheers
BOOO! Good video, but I think this is the most useless system lol.. I thought I had extra points, it's just the same points.. wtf does it matter what wand I switch to?.. I still need the same passives, lol.
@@Xnate13X I think its actually very useful. If you have a fire skill and a cold skill, you may want two separate wands with stats for fire and cold damage. Having 24 points that can also swap from fire stats to cold stats at the same time you change weapons makes a significant difference!
@Toxicbrr that's okay, it's a really confusing system lol. It does use a regular level skill point, but spending a regular level skill point as a weapon skill point with one weapon set allows you to also spend that same skill point with the other weapon set as well. It's basically like splitting the regular skill point in half between the two weapon sets. The point is to give you a way to specialize a little differently for each of the weapons you're using. For example, my first build had a big slow crossbow attack as my main skill, but I also wanted to use Escape Shot from the bow skills as a way to get away from enemies quickly. For my crossbow's damage, I took a bunch of nodes that reduced my attack speed in return for more damage. That was counter-productive for Escape Shot, because less attack speed means I escape slower. So I took the attack speed reduction nodes with my crossbow weapon points, then used the same amount of weapon points from my bow set to take nodes that gave me more attack speed instead. With everything set up like that, I had more damage/less attack speed while using my crossbow, but when I swapped to the bow for Escape Shot, not only does it take out the nodes from the crossbow set that reduce my attack speed, it also adds the points of extra attack speed that I spent in the bow set.
You are the ONLY person I have found ACTUALLY explaining how to do this instead of, "select weapon and allocate". Thank you!
