One thing not mentioned here is that on the older model Rouge (I have a 2022), the area between the instrument cluster and the windshield allows usable storage space. I have a small bag that fits there big enough for a liquor bottle or even up to a 2 ltr coke. I also keep my riding gloves and sunglasses there when I park. The new model blocks this space with the taller riser. Not to say that is a decision maker for either bike, but I'm glad to have that space over spending hundreds for saddle bags. I don't need a lot, but a little is nice to have.
@@NostalgicMotorcycles Not looking to make a huge issue of this, but check again my friend. The theme of this video was picking out major and minor differences in the two bikes. This is obviously a minor one. Bag or not, there's no way to fit a 2 ltr coke bottle (or anything of that size) in the same space on the '25. The riser blocks it off. Also, not much space for a universal bag on the forks on either model. I only mention this because the type riding I do most which is frequent runs to the convenience/liquor store. Have you seen the price for saddle bags that fit this bike? In any event, my '22 is paid for and not looking to upgrade, but I'm happy to see Indian continue to evolve this model.

i think you did a good review but I stick with my 2020 because i like the fender on the back the only new scout with fender is the classic and it's chromed and has spoked wheels i prefer blacked out look and mag wheels
I test rode a 2025 101 today, wasn't impressed. My 2017 feels faster, stops faster (Brembo 4 piston caliper upgrade), and is easier to maneuver at slow speeds. The dual Brembo set up on the 101 was hugely disappointing, visibly it looks identical to the setup on my BMW R1250R, but it's pretty lame. The cruise control would surge and hunt below 55 mph. And the display controls were hard to use and too many buttons required to navigate through everything. It's a hot mess IMO. I'll happily stick with my 2017 Scout.
Interesting. I would say if your 2017 is stock/untuned. Then you did not have gone into sport mode. Your 2017 should faster than standard mode on the new bikes. I can guarantee the new bike is faster. Check the ride modes those make all the difference. You upgraded your brakes I can’t really say anything there outside of the fact that these calipers are exactly the same as the challenger and ftr. Not sure about the BMW because it’s off the ftr and challenger lol. 😂 Surging under 55mph probably has more to do with what gear you are in rather than speed. 6th gear at 55 I can see that being true. Not 4th at 55. Again could be a user thing. I literally rode a 101 yesterday for about 60 miles (video coming soon) and cruising at 65 was no issues but I usually match my gears to speed so around 50-55 I would be shifting from 4th to 5th. 🤷🏽♂️🤷🏽♂️. Rode under 15 mph for about 10 minutes during this ride and no bucking lurching or surging. Controls being hard to use is a comfort thing. It’s new to you and different so your brain isn’t routed to use those buttons. Use them for a week it won’t be an issue. I ride different bikes regularly so my fingers don’t ever really have a “home base” as you do literally comparing only 2 bikes. I will say the older button press is more click like and the new one is kind of vague to the feel. I prefer clicky buttons. But it does sound like your bike is the one for you bro. Thanks for the input. I’m sure other owners will want to hear the feedback.
@@NostalgicMotorcycles My 2017 has 2 into 1 pipe, PV3 tuned, trask air cleaner, and the 101 I test rode WAS in Sport mode. It was quick, but didn't feel as quick as mine. It was a smoother ride, though. The seat was the only part I was actually impressed with, very comfortable. I'm used to McCruise control, riding at less than 55 in 6th wasn't an issue with that, the 101 liked to be at 55 or higher to be smooth. I didn't see that as an issue, just something that was worth mentioning. The brakes were the biggest disappointment, I expected stoppie power, and ended up having to squeeze hard to get half of what I expected. I had to use all four fingers to get a hard stop, my BMW only needs two fingers and moderate pressure. The whole bike was nice in concept, but I found to be unrefined and lacking in several areas.
@@painlesstom Gotcha that makes perfect sense. You are comparing Modified bike What most people will consider a stage 2 being intake and exhaust mods with a tune. To a factory restricted bike. The bike is not the problem in this comparison..... I would say your reference point has a slight flaw in it. Try stock for stock. Then open your mind to modified to modified. that's a fair comparison and an accurate way to judge. Not a 2017 at its best (tuned/unrestricted) to the new bikes worse (literally stock). Of course, it's not going to feel as fast its not level ground. Thank you for clarifying as that is key information that you need to be very clear about. Yes the scout 101 stock is slower than a decently modified prior Gen. I could of told you that. No one would expect anything less. Tuned bikes run better than stock bikes. Always its a fact. As far as brakes are concerned. To get these brakes up to the level you're wanting it takes a simple master cylinder and pad change. The calipers are not the problem. When making comparisons I would suggest making it apples to apples so you don't get upset when your apple turns out to be an orange. But hey what do I know im just a random guy making comments online 🤭

Sure, swapping the right bore master in, and using some EBC pads, would certainly improve that situation, but that's some of that un-refinement I referred to. As to speed, all the hype about the 1250 having so much more power is where my comparison was drawing from. A tuned 1130cc 100 hp 2017 shouldn't feel faster than a stock 1250cc with an advertised 111hp. I should have felt more power, but that wasn't the case. Either way, my interest in the 101 has passed. Sometimes oranges turn out to be lemons. LOL
🤷🏽♂️🤷🏽♂️ 110 hp is a crank rating. Stock I would guess 95 ish wheel. The speed plus motor will make over 100 hp at the wheel tuned on a stock exhaust. Thinking about this holistically. It’s faster than all its competition. Mostly. Only time will tell. 🤷🏽♂️🤷🏽♂️. The original scout motor is really good as it is.
