I know this video is old, but if some one is viewing this page to see what phone to get, either the IPhone 5s, the Galaxy S4 or the HTC one. Get the HTC one. I just got it, and I am in love. The build quality is amazing, the beats make a huge difference, the screen is great and it's the perfect size. The Galaxy S4 runs TouchWiz, I had a Galaxy S3, and TouchWiz is just laggy, slow, and overall hideous. The 5s, has nothing great about it except the touch scanner, which isn't even that great; iOS 7 is just terrible and apple over all is just bad. You can't do anything with the amazing and speedy chip the 5s has.

Watching in 2018 and I still think the HTC One is close to the all time best designed smartphone. I really miss this era of smartphones. Haven’t gotten excited for phones in the last couple years the way I did back then.

As much as the Samsung seems to out perform the HTC, I just can't get over that it's made of plastic!

I dont know I was thinking of getting the galaxy s4 but it feels too cheap. And HTC one feels like I am going to ran out of memory. And iPhone is just too limited.

    • @dAirborn3b
      @dAirborn3b 11 лет назад

For me that 25Gb actual storage on the HTC One is enough, for movies and other stuff that I don't use often I simply connect a pendrive via otg cable or just use dropbox. I like the 5 inch of the S4 but other than that I simply love the Sense 5 on the One. + as said You can install more bigger apps on the Htc and boomsound is simply overkill

Hi.I have SGS4 and it's great phone, trust me.The camera and other things on SGS4 are impressive.I had an iPhone and luckily I got SGS4.It's a big difference between SGS4 and iPhone or HTC One.View only Samsung Galaxy S4 Specs and HTC One Specs.Trust me you will not regret it! Good luck with shopping.

S4 is not cheap. Built is great. Just the plastic cover. It also has the newest gorilla glass. Strongest, flexible one yet. And youre probably gonna get a case anyway...

The smallest things can make a big difference. You can use your key on the screen without scratching it. And those extra inches of a drop can matter.

I just renewed my contract for the GS4 phone but I read a review online were the review writer said he preferred the HTC1. I was a bit gutted but after watching this video, although I like some of the features of the HTC1, there isn't enough in it to make me disappointed with the GS4 so I am happy to keep my contract as it is. Thanks for this very informative review.

The video was kinda biased towards HTC One, like in the benchmark tests, but overall a good review. That said, i am still confused as to which one i should go for, Samsung is more powerful, HTC is more visually appealing. Thats it...

Borat, I understand, but the applications are so demanding that u ought to have a better ram and a better processor. On paper although JB and KK require much lesser memory, but with the skins and the day to day applications we use, 1 gb of ram is not sufficient. I use an Xperia S and believe me it's damn slow!

  • @MercDiggler

I owned both. Currently the HTC one. Brilliant design and it gets compliments from samsungers. However, you can't add a contact by typing the phone number on the dial pad. You have to call then add or add from contacts. Galaxy you can. Also the headset that is some kind of urbeats but no official license or beats logos but resemble my urbeats with not as much quality, will not change the music track. It Sucks. When you hit the button on the headphones it dials the last number even when your in your music app. It will only pause music. Not only that the beats audio will pump the music so loud the headphones have no choice to crackle. I love the loudness but they could have come stock with higher quality headphones to match the output. The phone speakers rock. Nothing better end of story. I don't know if this gentleman did all the research but the camera is not in the same game as s4. Picture quality decreases exponentially when zoomed and when not zoomed when I compare to my mom's s4 she kicks my ass all day. Also I hate that I have to have the flip board thing on my desktop. Also no sbeam for video and music. You can NFC pics to other droids but that's all. Att gave me a 30 trial, I fell in love with the sound and that when u watch RUclips or vines the phone speakers are so loud you don't need headphones like I did with my galaxy. Also the design. I dint know that any phone can stand up. It's like the man of steel of phones. God like. When my thirty days was almost up I compared the two, and it came down to the fact that I can live with a shittier camera. Oh by the way the reason I live with the camera is because this gentlemen forgot the most important part. THE CAMERA RECORDA IN SLOW MOTION VIDEO AND ITS FUCKING AWESOME. And the sound. At the gym over crappy gym speakers the sound is so loud in my phones it blots it out everything like xerxes army blotting out the sun with their arrows. And that's without noise cancel. The design kicks ass and I'm happy. The screen display rocks too. And with SwiftKey keyboard app texting is ultra fast with predictions. Samsung just got too cookie cutter. And after having all 4 I had to make the switch.

I had couple of HTC phones, my most recent one was One S. After considering One vs S4 for a long time, decided to change and I went for S4. This was a bad decision, and honestly - I find older HTC ONE S better than the S4, so I can only imagine what am I missing by not getting the One. S4 lags, TouchWiz is TERRIBLE, my old HTC 1.5GHz dual core felt much, much faster than this quad 1.9GHz. TouchWiz is so heavy, it just wastes all this power. Camera is very bad, with a quite big delay on the shutter. All this super technology they keep advertising? Works ONLY on the stock samsung apps which you won't use anyway (Internet, Calendar, Email). Phone in general is good and nice, but there are so many small things that makes me regret buying it, like no date displayed in the notification bar, no ring volume setting while phone is locked, complicated settings all over the place. If you still can't decided what to buy - go with One.

    HTC wins. Galaxy with its

I have had the HTC One for about 6 months now. I love how smooth Sense 5 is, and how fast the phone is. The speakers are great, and I have been pleased with the phone overall. But the camera indoors i would say is the phone's weakness. You can get some good shots, but it might take you 4 or 5 pictures to get that good shot, maybe more if you have a moving subject. So that can be annoying but other than that I really have enjoyed my time with the phone

Also, I don't know what the process of rooting the S4 is but if you're interested in rooting your HTC One it's a bit of a process if you're on Verizon. Certainly do-able but I've just noticed it was considerably more tedious than any of my previous android phones (Droid 2, Droid 3 and GS3). Using HTC Dev to unlock the bootloader is not available for Verizon. As for everything else about the phone, it's fantastic. The speakers sold me and they sound superb both in my car and from the phone itself

Great review. I'm not sure if this has been mentioned in the comments or not, but the reason there seems to be some complaints about charge rate on the HTC One is due to the fact the software will default to USB charge which limits the current to less than 500mA which is what most USB ports are rated for. In order to achieve fast rate of charge the phone needs to be plugged into a capable device that is configured to trigger AC charge mode on the HTC. (the stock HTC charger does this) The trigger is nothing more than both data pins being shorted together. There are cables sold specifically for this purpose (Search amazon from Micro USB Charge only cable) You can of course make your own cable. I am able to draw over an amp of current when charging with capable devices using such cable. Capable devices include anything that can actually supply this much current at 5v Most backup battery packs rated for iPad will supply up to 2.1A and some newer USB ports (especially USB3.0) are also rated much higher than 500mA. In order to view which charge method HTC One is using, click on settings, then go to power and while connected to charging source, you should see status at the top which will say "Charging - USB" or "Charging AC" the latter is what you want.
BTW, I wish you have mentioned the slow motion video capability on the HTC when talking about cameras :)

Great video. Question though: I've had HTC phones for years (EVO and the newer 4g LTE) and the only big issue I've had w them is they seem to erase numbers randomly after a few years and glitch around the two year mark. This has scared me from wanting the ONE but is the galaxy more ir less the same as your typical HTC considering the different brands?

    I don't think there is a winner
It's more about What you like in a phone
For me it was the HTC One because of the camera features (yes, for me features like zoe and sequence shot are much better than the sg4's), the build quality (HTC is an absolute winner here) and BoomSound (the best sound quality in the market. And Yeah it's louder than the S4)

Im scared of touch screen keyboard and it seems a pain. I am interested in the S4 , Sony Z1 and WAS interested in the HTC One. The thing is (and yes I own an htc one m7) with the speakers is that the "if you consume a lot of media" comment doesn't mean much, simply because no one should be using phone speakers in public and if you do please stop, if you have a job or a life in general, if you're not home chances are you'll be using earphones/headphones and the boomsound speakers, they are amazing and surprinsingly loud at the lowest volume setting.

My brother in law has HTC and made the choice based on a lot of research. The sound and low light superiority as well as the easier hand holding from slightly smaller size were the swaying factors. This video does a great job of visual comparisons to help you really figure out what's most important to you. I'm leaning on HTC myself. I will be choosing android over my iphone4. My lenovo $120 tablet has led me down the road to the PITA break I am getting ready to embrace with the transfer of data from Apple's platform.

The aluminum doesn't affect Well that's better than Galaxy s4 at least, like iPhone 5C, Galaxy S4 is plastic and the HTC One looks much nicer than the Galaxy and it is a better, the shape of Galaxy doesn't even look handsome and it is too big and not portable enough unless u get Galaxy S3 which is pretty much the same as S4, but lower-end, the HTC One may be the real Android phone like the Google Nexus, but it HTC One is close enough and it beats most Android phones out there and every single iPhone even if jailbroken with or without shitty iOS 7 and this is coming from an iPhone 5 user who got the phone before these 2 phones came out, I need to get the HTC.

In my opinion, looks don't matter to me. I went to Best Buy today and actually witnessed that the HTC One had 3 bars signal strength while the S4 had 5 bars. I then looked again just to make sure, and the HTC One had dropped all the way to one signal bar while the S4 stayed the same. I know the displays are not connected to a cellular network, but the signal still dropped on the One, while the S4 remained constant. Anyway, choose wisely. Who knows, maybe it's not the aluminum but the phone itself. I had an iphone and despised it; small screen, laggy iOS, and just very limited. I once put an aluminum case on it, and it dropped signal dramatically. So, that's why I say that the aluminum on the HTC One is causing bad signal. There's a reason Samsung put plastic on the phone (no signal fluctuations.) Just put a silicone case on S4 and BAM!! no problem whatsoever.

Plus, you will probably end up putting a case on the HTC One just to be on the safe side. I go for S4 because of better performance and that Samsung doesn't only just make phones.

Thanks so much for this great video. Extremely helpful... esp the side-by-side audio & video. I had the HTC, but traded for the S4 because of the "build". Found it more difficult to press buttons & use, esp with gel cover on. But the sound was fantastic.

I personally don't have an S4 so can't really compare, but after watching this and various other videos not knowing which phone to get (it was between s4, HTC One and Iphone5) I finally chose the HTC and I couldn't be anymore relieved, all my family are I phone users and I personally would chose the HTC over the iPhone any day, absolutely wonderful phone.

  • @DavidDuchodca

Well I did get the S4 and still do not know if I made the right choice. Like I had some issues with the battery. (being good and then suddenly not so good) I hear about the high percentage having problems with the batteries. Then even I have problems with my SD card. And the fluidity overall is not as I expected it to be. I own an old S2 and it is more "fluid" than the S4 in transitions mostly seen in gallery when the same images are displayed .
One thing that keeps me is the Display.

Thanks for the video....I made my choice... I know what I will buy for the next year. I think i'm gonna take the HTC one... I want something new...I had the samsung s2... and it's almost the same as S4, I know that the S4 is more powerful and better than the S2 or the HTC one... but the HTC ONE is also good... Not a big difference between the both (S4 and HTC one)... (i like the speakers of the HTC ONE)..

I recently upgraded and ordered the s4. I told my partner to get the htc one for himself as he loves watching movies and ufc etc. The htc one screen seems great for this. Plus his phone came with 32gb memory whereas mine has 16gb.
To be honest the main reason I chose the s4 is because I love the whole layout that samsungs have. Everything is familiar to me, but the screen is much better than my previous galaxy note.
I have to say I do get quite jealous of my other halfs htc one, as the screen is AMAZING..crystal clear and the blacks are really dark, something I admire. Also the speakers are ridiculously good.
If you like watching movies often I would say get the htc one, whereas if you are familiar with samsungs and touchwiz, i say stick to them!

Is AT&T have fast LTE? And with the HTC One having kind of an outdated version of Android, will it have an effect on the experience? I might be planning to change to AT&T instead of Verizon.

First... thank you. That was very informative. I recently bought the HTC One after struggling between the 2. Wished I'd checked your review first. However, I still would have chosen the HTC for what I need. Love the phone, and don't need the extra features. Great sound with the Beats headphones, too.

Hey Jonathan, I just watch the video, I already own the htc one I think the video was great, I got the htc one for the boom sound, I'm a huge music and movie lover so this phone was perfect for me, the fact that the phone is fully made of aluminum was a plus not only does it feel great but it is tough. I have put my HTC one through God knows everything and it's still going strong. I disagree with what you said about the battery life being better on the s4 than the One.

Due to the fact that I have to have it for two freakin' years! So after watching this video, I've decided to go with the HTC One! Super super amazing. Thanks for getting straight to the point with that one! :) Very much appreciated.
