I like the style of this knife, got a fremont jack with the same flats. it really gives the knife a rustic elegant look, gentleman farmer? Unfortunately my budget for this month will not stretch another $150 and an edc I have been wanting for ages is top of the list, the Benchmade 940, Oh well, us working boys cannot have everything right away and I am sure most of you guys will agree that the 940 is a must for anybody that uses knives a lot. You keep on showing us such lovely knives Rob and I do support Derrick and Mike, two good American retailers.
Not much of a jackknife aficionado, but aesthetically that knife speaks to me. Great review. As you wear into the knife with a saber grind couldn't you take a stone to the saber's bevel to make the edge thinner to make the sharpening easier without putting a micro bevel to make up for thickness of the steel behind the edge?
+MyBLUEARROW It should not hurt any well made slip joint. It's actually "slamming" against the backspring, which moves slightly as the kick hits it. Not an issue at all -- it's how they were designed to be closed. Now, if you have an antique, and you're concerned about cover material cracking when the knife snaps closed, your method is a really good idea.
Rob......you are a bad BAD influence.....ya know that? ( KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!! LOL!!! ) I can't believe I haven't bought at least 1 of these yet. I buy so many others.......and your not helping matters doggone it. ;) ....oh the temptation. ( Awesome video of a great knife, my friend. )
Personally, with that half height Saber-grind I would have sharpened it into a Scandi adding a micro bevel. Would have tuned it into a nice performing blade in my mind.
Vittorio del rosario Glad you like it, Vittorio. It just got a little old, and Google was seriously messing with my videos after I used their "free" audio library.

First time seeing this. Beautiful knife. Thank you for the show and tell. ✝️
What a beauty. Coloration in the handle is very cool, nicely understated, but it's there.
Aesthetically, my favorite feature is the patina left by the heat treatment.
She's a beauty
It's like Clint Eastwood: skinny, tough, and old school! I like it.
Nice I have the same one in Blue Camel Bone. Great knife.
Very nice .. your helping to feed my addiction.

Just ordered mine, nice vid !
I have the wharncliff in mammoth ivory. Quite nice.
does all the opening and slamming closed have any negative effects??? I always close my knives slow and hold the blade till its seated?

Great review! Are you planning on checking out the forest jack?
Josh Horth Probably not, Josh. That one is a bit larger than I like to carry, and I don't love the saber grind on a wharnie.
