@@leodeleon2011able He *tried* to knock him out the whole time by throwing heavy shots to the head despite DC saying he shouldn't do because of the potential cardio issues.
im finally watching this fight again since it happened. I remember watching it and thinking Pantoja had won fairly, but now im thinking that this whole fight Pantoja looked tired and was getting wobbled more by brandons hits. His corner had told him you are up 3-1. But the truth is he lost round 2 and he went for the grappling out of necessity in round 3. In round 5 Brandon had won clearly in the stand until the last 2 minutes when he got locked into the position with pantoja. Idk the optics looked bad for pantoja. Ever Jason herzog was asking him if he was okay after the end of the 4th round.
Pantoja never looked tired, you can say that moreno is faster, but thats not equal to pantoja gassing out. Even Rogan and Dc were saying all the time "pantoja is tired" 2 seconds later "pantoja with the lef hook!" "pantoja with the takedown!" how someone tired can still get takedowns and powerful shots? So... your idea of "went for grappling out of necessity" does not makes sense at all, only if you think a BJJ black belt using his main weapon is not the best plan he can go for. "Out of necessity" would be a boxer going for takedowns or a grappler going for flying knees. So first argument falsed. Round 4: pantoja goes forward looking FRESH, again moreno being faster doesnt mean shit in pantojas cardio. Also, first time pantoja goes to round 4 IN HIS CAREER, moreno is the 5th time, if you dont count the other championship fights that he trained for 5 rounds but the fight ended earlier. So you are critizicing pantojas cardio while moreno has so much advantage in preparation and experience... This obviously talks better about pantojas cardio than brandon's. Also knowing these facts of moreno, that he is faster, he is lighter, he is not better at grappling than pantoja, how would not be a good gameplan for pantoja to go and control this guy in the grappling¿? And how can you think pantoja going for grappling its because he is tired?? Its like saying that moreno would've never went for grappling against figgy, but thats clearly the reason of why moreno defeated figgy the 3rd fight. End of round 4, Pantoja clearly won, he out grappled and out stroke moreno until the last 15 seconds when moreno used his main strength (his volume) to get some punches, but nothing serious. So second argument of pantoja not being 3-1, falsed. 5th round: Anik and DC agreed that its probably 3-1 for pantoja, (DC thinks maybe 2-2 but if 3-1 is for pantoja obviously). Rogan also says moreno has to finish pantoja. Again pantoja looking really fresh, throws his combos without any problem, he is moving around moreno very well, not gassing out a single second. Until the takedown they are even in the shots, maybe you can say moreno landed 2 or 3 more shots, again this are not powerful shots or shots that caused any trouble to pantoja, again moreno is a volume puncher but not that powerful. Significant strikes table shows they are even 18-18... Commentators again cheering for brandon, its logic since he is the champ for a while now and he gained too many fans, but they cant deny the numbers. Pantoja manhandling moreno on the grappling once again for 2 minutes straight. AGAIN your argument is FALSED. Moreno landed 2 or 3 more insignificant punches, so by the rules of scoring... YOU LOOSE. GAME OVER. (they are even in damage and pantoja had 2 minutes of control on the ground, so he won the 5th round). So... Moreno is good, but you cant deny that he is just another Michael Johnson with infinite cardio, and Pantoja demonstrated that his weakness is his not so elite grappling.
I get what you’re saying about how could someone be tired if they keep shooting for takedowns, but pantoja did not look like colby or merab out there. I also meant to say round 4. He gets rocked by an elbow and then goes for the shot of necessity from being hurt. Idk. ive thought two very different things on different viewings, so im willing to say now that neither won decisively. Statistics dont always tell you the story. I mean rob font outlander chito vera in their fight but chito was definitely never rocked in that fight. Obv font got dropped in the middle rounds but in rd 5 he outlanded chito and didnt get knock down, but anyone who saw that fight knows chito won the 5th. Grappling does score you points for sure but even that is circumstantial. Islam held volk down for the majority of round 3 or 4 only for volk to land so many good punches from the triangle body lock position. Now i know moreno didnt land shots from the bottom but he got out of it and finished the round strong. The person that first replied mentions that fights are not based on someone looks, and yes i agree. I would mostly say about my second viewing is that pantoja got hurt more in the standup.
@@eriedului 23:12 he ates a left hook before he shoots for the takedown, the elbow occurs while he is shooting... He was not hurt by an elbow. Look i dont want to be a troll, you are not making sense here but i know what you want to say, you are saying that Moreno is more active, he is more agressive and pantoja is just surviving. I can see your point there, but you need to understand that this is not a realistic point of view if you know how the fighters are. If it was for agressiveness, then all the fighters with 20 KOs in the first round should be champions in the future, and thats not the case, in fact most of the champions often have decision wins, boring fights, but that doesnt mean they are losing, later they fight for the belt and suddenly they get a KO or a war for 5 rounds. Look at Cory sandhagen, he had a boring as fight against chito, but also KOed marlon moraes with a spinning head kick. Brian ortega was running 5 rounds against korean zombie, then he had a war against the 1# flyweight in the world. Korean zombie was destroyed by volk. Volkanovski won by points the first fight with max, he destroyed him in the 3rd. What im trying to explain is that the agressive fighter is not always the better fighter. Look at DC vs bones 2, DC looked great until that headkick, and bones was simply backing up, being patience. If you use that logic of agressive = better and stop the fight before the head kick happens, you would always thought that DC is the better fighter, but thats clearly not the case. Here with Pantoja is similar, he is more passive than moreno, but that doesnt mean that moreno would win in the later rounds, if there was more rounds than 5. Pantoja exploited moreno's weakness and that is not giving him space to work, he can spam 1000 jabs with his longer reach and faster speed, but if you can grapple with him, he cant hurt you. All of this assuming that Panoja has cardio, that i know he has, you just have to watch his fights, agaisnt figgy especificly, he gassed out figgy and ate all his shots, thats why its difficult for me seeing moreno "hurting" pantoja, with much less power.
What I’m saying is that upon 2nd viewing, Pantoja looked like the damage affected him more than I when I first watched. Live, I remember thinking he had done enough control and striked as much as Moreno to get him the win by scoring. [I said he won fairly]. I’m not saying aggression winning a fight applies to this one. I agree with you that the more aggressive fighter does not mean the better fighter.I don’t think Moreno won this fight upon my 2nd viewing because he was more “aggressive.” I don’t think that at all. That’s another conversation if the fighters were DEAD even and the criteria for “ring control” mattered as it does in ONE[I think it does for them]. What I’m saying is that I felt Moreno landed quality shots that seemed to have a greater effect on Pantoja and that his grappling and control was not enough even with the shots he landed such as the elbows he landed from the bottom. I just didn’t think they affected Brandon like in the 1st round. Other thoughts I have. I understand the comparison you are trying to make with Ortega. Personally I would not say he had a war with Volk. I would say he got COMPLETELY ran thru. The only thing he did was have a great 2:00 minutes with the knockdown and submission attempts. You are entitled to how you see it. I’m glad Pantoja is the champ. I always thought he was legit. This fight to me personally is just an example of ones that I happened to view differently after rewatching.
I had Moreno winning 2,4,5, with 3 being a push. I guess I'm giving more credit for Moreno's striking than pantojas grappling but look at them. Moreno caused much more damage with that striking. Great fight though.
The fact Pantoja barely beat Moreno by split decision speaks volumes since Morenos right hand broke in the first round he went out there and fought like a lion
a "you couldn't count either fighter out" bout.... however, it seemed anyways... that pantoja didn't finish strong enough in the last round and brandon even looked really with it trying to fend off alexander's grappling advances.
I don't know how having a guy's back isn't finishing strong. Pantoja's grappling won him this fight and Moreno's inability to shut down his takedowns or get him off his back when Pantoja switched gears and started to grapple is what lost it for him.
what a war had Brandon winning, commentary off as usual and a lot of mistakes for pantoja in the grappling leading to him getting reversed with brandon on top but despite pantoja not doing much of anything with control or take downs it’s cool seeing him champion definitely makes the division interesting

Honestly, I agree. The fight was very close, Moreno won rounds 2 and 4, Pantoja 1, 3 and 5, but he won rounds 3 and 5 by a small margin, specifically 5 was the closest because they were even in punching and it was Pantoja's control that made him win.

This reminds me of Roger Huerta vs Leonard Garcia. An epic fight .
Minha primeira vez que vi essa luta e sinceramente pantoja foi superior ao meu ver, a todo momento procurando jogo atacando por cima e por baixo , e mesmo que cansado continuou mandando contragolpes. Parabéns pantoja luta muito
Brandon might as well be called butter fingers, because he can't seem to keep his hands around the belt for more than 1 fight at the time.
He’s fighting the top of the top. Pantoja will loose his title to someone soon and that’s the name of the game
@@joshuaflores1497he’s already defended the belt more then Moreno
@@ambitiousproductions3224 his decision against Erceg was questionable so was his win against Brandon lol. He will loose it
@@joshuaflores1497do you think Kai will be the one to do it
Brandon was (i feel like) was 1 take down defense away from an "AND STILL".
Huh? You do know Pantoja won right?
@@bennetttyler6019 i fixed it lol
@@kaywababy89 oh okay lol
his long hair was tough. like he trained in a cave in brazil for months.
I hate this. They over value wrestling
I mean... What a fight!
Take downs should be like half a point or something when they lead to no sub attempts
Moreno escape every grapple of pantoja. For me, moreno wins the match.
Exactly bro
DC : Pantoja can't do that with Moreno, Moreno is bigger and stronger
Pantoja : *proceed to out-strenght him in the fight*
Helluva fight, man. Brandon needs to develop his ground game but his stand up was decent. Pentoja is like a piece of iron.
El último asalto muy mal por parte de Pantoja, sabía que si no se sube, Brandon lo iba a castigar de lo lindo
That low blow was intentional even the announcers called out its “better for pantoja”
Misericórdia 🤯🤤🥹💙 moreno ficoy moreno😢😢😢
How can hugging win a championship fight?
I always give more points for strikes and not so many for takedowns without any dmg, effect or real control time.
Thats why i would give this fight to Moreno he definitely did more dmg to Pantoja.
But thats just my opinion.
You are right
Moreno won this fight 48-47
And it was a really really close fight ,but he won it
Moreno was piecing him up the whole fight with one hand then Pantoja took him down and held him against the fence to save his own life
Abi lütfen arena'ya geldiğini koyarms
DC with his biased commentary as usual
Moreno wins, pantoja did not do enough to beat the champ
My eyesight might not be the best, but I'm pretty sure the belt got wrapped around Pantoja.
@@johnnym2069 maybe you’re right, you should visit ophthalmologist then.
Which fight was better on this night? This or the Hooker-Turner fight?
It's close but i'd say this 1
Thnaks man
Brandon Moreno vs pandoja 3 cus Brandon got robbed last fight
Brandon solo perdio porque se quebro la mano en el primer raund
49/46 for pantoja is wild🤢
Literally such bad judging anything but the 1st was close but 3 atleast go to moreno
nah das cap @@erikgonzalez1612
One judge gave it as 49/46 Moreno the 2 that gave it to pantoja had it 48/47...really close the fight comes down to who won round 4 to me at least cus I thought Pantoja won 1 and 3 and Moreno won 2 and 5
No judge scored 49-46 pantoja.
One scored 49-46 moreno and its not wild.
Rounds 3,4,5 were incredibly tough to score.
Why no rematch
I was screaming at Brandon to throw more headkicks set up by that jab as soon as dc said he can’t just box and he never did he threw them twice they clearly hurt pantoja and made his less willing to trade temporarily and he stopped throwing them set up with the jab
Pantoja tiene una quijada de burro increíble, cuanto aguante
Brandon won.
You could tell DC had money on Moreño everything he was saying was for him or speaking negative on Alex
Damn one of the best fights I've ever seen...can't believe I went so long without watching it all just cause I looked down on the flyweight division also f#@k those fans fir booing Pantoja in his crowning moment aftet he just delivered one of the best fights of the decade
Pantoja is Moreno’s boogeyman
No. This last fight was morenos. More damage landed more was getting the better of every exchange. But like always the ufc will judge a takedown that goes absolutely nowhere with no damage more than significant strikes. It’s BS!! He was robbed
@@joshuaflores1497 he was not robbed. pantoja controlled the fight
@@walterreed5849 no. Brandon was getting the better of almost all exchanges and beat him up on the feet. Pantoja took him down did no damage except for one elbow and then would get reversed and they would get back up. 100% when they stood up it was all bad for Pantoja. I don’t know why the ufc takes in count takedowns with no damage. If anything reversals and getting back up should be scored the same. It’s a a joke
@@joshuaflores1497 stop it. pantoja controlled that fightand had his success on the feet and even knocked moreno down. moreno couldnt take pantoja off his feet in any way. i hate control time being scored so signficantly but moreno had pantoja in no trouble he kept the pressure on moreno and walked him down and controlled. it was the closest of their 3 fights but still, pantoja has morenos number.
Honestly, I agree. The fight was very close, Moreno won rounds 2 and 4, Pantoja 1, 3 and 5, but he won rounds 3 and 5 by a small margin, specifically 5 was the closest because they were even in punching and it was Pantoja's control that made him win.
Muy buena pelea 😮 pero en realidad Pantoja ganó?
Yo le daría un empate
Esta pelea era de Moreno por donde lo vean… no cabe duda que Pantoja hizo un trabajo increíble pero es de Brandon total

brandon won idc
Won a flight ticket to go home
Как можно было отдать победу Бразильцу?!!! Он проиграл по всем статьям. В борьбу он шел когда получал урон в ударке, и там просто стоял без действий.
Would have loved to see brandon throw more kicks
このパントージャだと朝倉海に余裕で負けるな
Moreno won that
moreno def won arguably 4-1 definitely 3-2, pantoja only clearly won rd 1 moreno clearly won 2 4 and 5 imo
海の方が全然強そうで草
パントージャの方が全然強いわアホかwお前目腐っとんか
R1 - 10-9 Pantoja
R2 - 10-9 Moreno
R3 - Draw
R4 - 10-9 Pantoja
R5 - 10-9 Pantoja
Fact!
this was a amazing fight but i think it was a robbery brandon should’ve won that he was dominating on the feet and when he would get taken to the ground he had amazing defense great fight tho
How Did the other dude won? by hugging him? He was too scared to fight?
