When my daughter was in her final years of secondary school, we covered her binders like this. She continued to use them through university, and 10 years later, she still uses them to store resources at work. In the past, I have used this method to cover the front cover of flip pads to donate to school fairs. I glued the first page to the inside cover, so overall a bit cheaper project.
Thank you. This is wonderful. My friend is having her first baby. I'm going to make some of these for her and her husband. Thinking they should write about the baby's first years. Something for them to read back to their daughter.
Mod Pog crafting takes me back to my 30-somethings when my girlfriend who was an awesome crafter -- simply couldn't keep her hands still -- seem to Mog Pog everything 😅❤ Loved her then. Love her now. Always will. Thank you, Stacey. Your joy brings instant smiles.
I wonder if pinking the edges of inside pieces would help to prevent any fraying? Olfa has a pinked edge rotary blade. Or, use pinking shears. Just make sure the glue hits the zig zag edges. Let dry before closing book. Worth experimenting!
Stacy, have you ever thought of doing a scrappy cover? If so would love to see a video on that. Also, just wondering, do you know if heat and bond will stick to the cardboard? For some reason I remember someone using fabric to decorate a doll clothes trunk. It was cardboard and they used heat and bond or a product like it.
Thank you so much for the idea! 😊 A scrappy cover sounds like a fantastic project-I’ll definitely add it to my list! As for HeatnBond, it should work on cardboard, but you might want to test it on a small piece first to ensure it adheres well. ❤️ Let me know if you try it! ✂️✨
You could cut a piece of ribbon to use as a bookmark also. Glue it at the inside at the top and the fabric will cover the end of the ribbon.
Thanks for the tip! I'll have to try that next time. 😊

I might add a fusible interfacing to my fabric to hide the black composition book color.
Oh that's a good idea! Let me know how it goes 😊

I personally haven't had a problem with fraying, since the mod podge glues everything down. 😊

Can you please post the link for the fabric? Thank you!
Sorry I missed where the insert piece for both sides came from? Do you need an extra piece for that? Or is it included in the 13" by 18" piece ??
Yes you cut extra pieces for inside. Thanks for watching ❤
