I am from Virginia! I haven’t been to the VA Quilt Museum yet. It’s in Harrisonburg I think. I used to live in Waynesboro, but I moved home to Martinsville last September. I began quilting by watching RUclips in 2020. In 2021 I made my first quilt. Now that I’m retired, all I want to do is sew quilts! Thanks for your fun videos. Two of my sisters also watch because they’re quilters, too. They started years ago. I wish I hadn’t waited so long. It’s addictive like knitting.
From what I understand, for the Sizzle, you can sew sets of two together while you wait for your contrast, but you’ll need to add the contrasting triangles before you sew the sets of six. It’s beautiful to see how much you do for others. I’m grateful to watch your videos each morning. Thank you for all you do. Have a great day.
I was rolling along with the Peeps until the cereal and the floater in your coffee came along and I lost it! Then you smoothly moved to serious quilt stuff. I'm still rolling over the duck in your coffee. What fun. Happy weekend, Pat.
👒🐣🏆So cute floating that peep duck in Starbucks coffee! That is a great contribution of your 30 Quilts to the museum! Your are to be commended for your generosity to put those quilts out into the universe😇
What an awesome giving person you are! Your gifts if time, knowledge and fundraising ideas just keep me coming back. In a short period of time you have enlightened us to how we can support Ukraine by sewing a block then donating quilts and now the museum will benefit from your generosity. We viewers love seeing your projects come together. Happy sewing. Enjoy your peep surprises. 🐰
I admire how quickly you're able to select a layout of colors and prints. I usually agonize over the layout, before putting it together. It's amusing, how you have such fun with Peeps. They're pure sugar, it's a no for me. Have a blessed weekend. Careful on your walks!
Try my new jelly roll hack to get rid of the fluff! Unroll it in the dryer and tie the tie that comes with it around the strips. Turn on the dryer for about 5-7 minutes (I use the wool dryer balls that help to tumble them around); shake them some and turn on the dryer again for another few minutes. Shake to see if there's any more fluff and voila! Little mess!
Enjoyed your laughing with the peep in your coffee. Made me laugh along with you, so cute. Did you count how many quilts you gave to the museum? You are such a bright spot in our day!
How refreshing to see your giving heart and generosity. I have to many quilts on the go but the Jelly Sizzle will be my next start. I like the pattern and you made it look so fun playing with the jelly roll. Have a spectacular Day!
I made a Peeps wreath for my front door once. Didn't attract bugs, was so cute! Tossed it after the one use, though. There is probably a Peeps quilt out there somewhere. That would be a cute spring quilt in the bright colors of Peeps. Your Peeps in the coffee was hilarious!
Pat, your a Joy!!! How wonderful to donate so many quilts! The "peeps" my goodness...such variety. My husband loves stale peeps! Enjoyed having my coffee with you!
WOW!!! I love Peeps, too. I had no idea there were so many different types, especially the cereal. I will be keeping my eyes peeled for fun Peeps. And now I also know I must get a drying rack. I use the second bedroom as my creative space, and I need to be able to work more organized. For my Sizzle, I have only three different fabrics, so I will double up. Now to go in search of Peeps.
Hi, I hope you had a great day! I had a busy day in my sewing room, playing with strings of fabric and now I get to watch you! I hope you have a beautiful week ahead. Thank you for posting this video, sharing your time and talent.
I missed the live chat since I was at work when this aired but you are so cute with your peeps and in your coffee cup. adorable. I don't have a drying rack but I use something similar - a CD rack (we don't use it for CD's so why not). I have three more work nights and then I can get started on the Jelly Sizzle! Love you Pat!
Way to go Barbara who sent all of the peeps. She did outdo herself and everyone else for sure! Love it that one is “swimming” in you cup of coffee! So cute! Not a fan of peeps here, but I know there is definitely a big following out there. Enjoy everyone because they are usually only out there a short time in the Spring!
Oh Pat! So funny. My daughter LOVES Peeps!! She and her husband are expecting their first child and I found the peeps and stuffie to give to her! I’m telling her it is babies first peep!!
Morning Pat Sloan! Had early morning coffee club so just now catching up! (so aggravated I could bite a 16 penny nail into!) Loving the jelly-roll sizzle. Got my drying rack out & using it to hold strips as I press & sort. Hadn't thought of using it for quilting. Thank you for teaching us & allowing us into the Sloan Zone!! Listening to your voice has calmed me down greatly!
Pat I think it would helpful to us if you make a block and then audition each of the three colors for us for the pinwheels, so we get an idea how they will or won’t pop. Would love to see that on an upcoming video.
TIP: In order to spread out the colors more but before sewing my strip sets together I always cut my strips in half. So instead of sewing 42” strip sets I sew 21” strip sets which allows for more variety throughout my quilts.
I plan to pair my strips. Then cut into the sections, than randomly grab for pairing into the blocks.... As Pat says, definitely don't want to cut them in half
I use the ArtBin containers to store all of my Christmas fabric and my ongoing projects. I also have a drying rack of the same design as yours. I purchased it in 1966 to go to college with me. But never thought to use it to sort fabric. Great idea. Am currently looking at those rolling cart storage bins, another great idea.
I just got my e-book copy of your new book and it’s AMAZING! I want to make everything in it. And since I can’t decide what to start first, I think I’m going to start with the first project and work my way through to the end. 😍😍
I am fascinated watching you make your fabric selections! I get stumped right there at the beginning trying to pick which fabrics to use out of a roll/layer/charm pack. I look forward to more of these "selection" videos. Maybe I'll get better at accomplishing this initial step. Thank you!
Thanks for the morning lift. I had downloaded the Jelly Roll Sizzle pattern the other day when Kim Jolly had a video. It will be my first jelly roll quilt. As I'm looking at it now I'm seeing this wonderful secondary image of blocks on point. While I'm not good enough yet (just been quilting a year and haven't finished one complete quilt yet) I'd like to one day do this quilt figuring out how to create secondary blocks with the four corners in different colors. I'd really have to plan ahead. I love the suggestion you made of putting all the blocks together before deciding on the corner pieces. That make my idea easier!
Hi Pat. Not sure if I'm gonna do Jelly Sizzle or not, but the pattern from FQS says to use 35 strips for the crib size quilt. Are we doing something different? I'm a bit confused, which is nothing new. LOL Trying to finish my String Bean Quilt. I had enough blocks done for the 30 block quilt (6x5), but I decided it wasn't long enough. So I'm making another row of blocks. (I had 2 extra, so that would be 4 new ones). Anyway, hugs from- Virginia!! And be careful not to over-peep yourself! hahahahaha🐤🐥🐣🐥🐤
I never realized there were so many things to do with peeps. Eating them stale gonna have to try that 😋. I loved the golden yellow fabric. It will be interesting to see what Pat selects.
Coffee with a peep! You may be onto something! How kind of you to donate all those quilts…and I love the tulip quilt it is so pretty. Thank you for sharing!
Love love those peeps... I do not float mine in coffee ... but my RV women's group we roast them over the campfire ....I know I know LOL.... But they're so good like eating creme brulee
Thank you so much for all the inspiration you give us! Your generosity is huge! Love seeing all the peeps. Thank you for the guidance with the jelly roll. Can’t wait to make. Someone commented about your little giggle love it.
Wow Peeps I've never seen before! I bought common peeps yesterday for my great grand kids Easter Baskets I made. I also made three dozen stuffed fabric eggs from variety of Easter fabrics for them to "hunt" in my backyard. Finished your Ukraine Star Block for my front porch! Love your donation project, so generous! Blessings.
Someone in the chat mentioned Peeps fabric. I had some years ago. I also saw a teacher use it on a bulletin board in her classroom. However, I prefer Peeps in my tummy!! I have put Peeps in hot chocolate before. LOL Changing topics -- I really like your add-on border for the Sizzle pattern. I just might sew along with this one. I've got something I'd like to finish first -- it should be done in the next couple of days. I do appreciate how you encourage us to just keep rolling right along getting things done.
Pat I hate to say this for your peeps, but my sister buys a lot of them at Easter and she uses them to make s’mores in the spring and summer. I told her oh no, you r killing a peep! Anyway enjoy!
So fun and interesting to watch and listen to you! What it be awful to make the pinwheels in the different colors rather than the decision to pick just one? I am going to attempt this project (I think). You are inspiring!
I love peeps! I always love seeing them hit the stores! 🐥so cute! I wasn’t considering making the jelly sizzle but I could make a quick baby version! I can always use another baby quilt! ❤️
Hi Pat! Oh my goodness, those Peeps!!! I've never seen such a variety-chocolate covered or chocolate pudding!! And the plushie 💗💗 I did see some white chickens the other day that had specks of colors in them. I will have to be on the lookout for the other flavors & for sure the plushie. Also, I've never thought to put one in my coffee 😊 Like Lynn commented-love the laughs. I tell folks all the time "I'm so easily entertained!" hahaha For your Sizzle, I really liked the yellow, but then again the gray might look nice, too. I love that line by Corey. I forgot to comment about your donating of the quilts-such a great gesture 💗
Hi just found you, when you mentioned peeps I thought you were referring to peep boarders in your quilt😂🤣 then when you showed your STASH of PEEPS i realised you were talking about somthing quite different, are they marshmellows, haven't seen them here down under. Blessings to you all.
I watched your video about cutting with the machine and I have a question...do they work on jelly rolls to cut 2 1/2 squares? Or do you need more room on the sides to make it work.?
I’m in Pennsylvania and not that far from Allentown. In NY the do the ball drop on New Years, in Allentown they do a peep drop, but I think I heard they do it earlier so kids can enjoy? I’m not a peep person…. Lol, yes it’s a thing, I’m not creative but someone shared with me since it’s a marshmallow and that goes with hot chocolate so now I feel like I can partake.
I have a weird question... can these handmade quilts be washed by washing machine? Are all the types of waddings washable I guess is my question. Love your videos... so inspiring!
Pat what kind of coffee do you get from Starbucks. I have never had a coffee from them that I can actually finish. I don't have any friends that like Starbucks either. I really enjoy coffee and would like to have a recommendation.
I think by the time you were showing the cereal you were drooling because you had to swallow, I want to try the cereal love peeps to but I like them a little dried out yummy

I agree with you totally.
Agree.
I haven't decided on my pop.....
Thank you so much for the quilts Pat! Your support of the museum really means the world to us.
I'm very happy to give them to you 💕
Virginia Quilt Museum on my bucket list now!!!
You were so giggly and silly with the peeps, made me laugh and smile. Thanks for that I needed it.
Oh my, you just started something with peeps in your coffee. Coffee shops should do this with clear lids. Love watching you, your like fresh air.
I was rolling along with the Peeps until the cereal and the floater in your coffee came along and I lost it! Then you smoothly moved to serious quilt stuff. I'm still rolling over the duck in your coffee. What fun. Happy weekend, Pat.
I cracked up when you floated the peep in your coffee 😂💞

Hi Maria
I like the yellow!!

Enjoyed your laughing with the peep in your coffee. Made me laugh along with you, so cute. Did you count how many quilts you gave to the museum? You are such a bright spot in our day!
thank you! It was 30 quilts, i thought i said it in the video :)

Hi Sandra
The yellow will give it a zing, the turquoise is beautiful and grey will make it more subdued.
I love your red top Pat , looks so lovely on you..
Hi Kristy
I LOVE that you donated so many quilts to the VA Quilt Museum. Very generous!
Wow! Good for you.
Pat, your a Joy!!! How wonderful to donate so many quilts! The "peeps" my goodness...such variety. My husband loves stale peeps! Enjoyed having my coffee with you!

As Pat says, definitely don't want to cut them in half
The peeps surprises are bringing a smile to my face. Love the cereal the most. But then the peep on top of the coffee is so cute.
I love the tulip quilt!

What a nice and generous gift for the museum fundraiser.
Thank you for the giggles this morning, Pat. ☺️

HI Brenda
What an awesome thing to do Pat! The museum will benefit greatly from your generous donation.

I love Peeps, especially when they get old and hard, probably crazy, I know!

Thank you so much for all the inspiration you give us! Your generosity is huge! Love seeing all the peeps. Thank you for the guidance with the jelly roll. Can’t wait to make. Someone commented about your little giggle love it.
That was so helpful! Thank you. This quilt was on my radar and I now want to tackle it with you.
Hi Sue
love the yellow
I like your solids for the pinwheels. You could make more than one color of pinwheel.
Hi Rita
I love peeps also but only when they get stale. So many cute and yummy peeps
Hi Dottie

Hi Kym
Please design a quilt of peeps for Barbara
thx Pat for the info and inspiration...you are wonderful and have helped my quilting level over the years...can't wait for the next video!
Hi Margaret
Pat I hate to say this for your peeps, but my sister buys a lot of them at Easter and she uses them to make s’mores in the spring and summer. I told her oh no, you r killing a peep! Anyway enjoy!

Your excitement over the Peeps made me want to get some....and I don't even like Peeps. Yes to Pez!
I think the dark gray takes away from the springiest theme. Just my opinion.
Hi Patty
Thanks for making us laugh and keeping us motivated.
There’s a Peeps store in DC area we went to. It’s at the Washington National Harbor.
if i get over there I'll check it out!
Hi Pat! Oh my goodness, those Peeps!!! I've never seen such a variety-chocolate covered or chocolate pudding!! check them out www.peepsbrand.com/
Sorry Peeps are not on my candy list. But your jelly sizzle is! I have my strips alll sorted and ready to go. I’ll post pics.
I really like the yellow for the pinwheels although I agree that the gray will stand out more and that's the goal, right?
I watched your video about cutting with the machine and I have a question...do they work on jelly rolls to cut 2 1/2 squares? Or do you need more room on the sides to make it work.?
I keep peeps so the neighbor kids can toast them in our campfire
I LOVE your shirt! Where did you get it? I’m a red, red, everything red person too!
at Kohls a few years ago
Loved the grey for your pop.... but the gold might be great too.
And you can have all the peeps! Definitely not for me
Seems like a challenge to me!
Hi Deb
I’m in Pennsylvania and not that far from Allentown. In NY the do the ball drop on New Years, in Allentown they do a peep drop, but I think I heard they do it earlier so kids can enjoy? I’m not a peep person…. Lol, yes it’s a thing, I’m not creative but someone shared with me since it’s a marshmallow and that goes with hot chocolate so now I feel like I can partake.
Hi Theresa
I have a weird question... can these handmade quilts be washed by washing machine? Are all the types of waddings washable I guess is my question. Love your videos... so inspiring!
if you used quality batting it can be washed in the machine.
@@PatSloanthanks! that is great to know!
Hi Kathleen
