- Coming into Bosnia was a last minute decision. I was planning to turn around in Slovenia and head north via Italy, but I have been eyeing up all the wiggly roads on the maps app in Bosnia and at 7am this morning I decided to go for it, I found a very cheap place in the mountains and off I went, south into the heart of the country. I didn’t realise my phone company had cut me off until it was too late and up until that point I was pretty happy and oblivious of the potential problems I’d given myself, being told ‘good luck’ by the border official probably also should have been a bit of a warning. The country is beautiful, but a completely different feel to where I’ve come from. Bikers without helmets, dogs wondering in the street and an overwhelming mix of modern and delapidated had me gawking in every direction until my neck started to hurt. I could spend weeks here enjoying the atmosphere and soaking up the unique energy of the place.
Sadly having no back up has left me a bit vulnerable and extremely uncomfortable, so the plan is to leave as soon as possible in the morning, but I’ve loved my first day here.
Annoyingly I didn’t photograph my dinner but I feel like it deserves a bit more recognition than I provided - a plate of hot chunky pieces of meat covered in creamy gravy was brought to me with two rolls of bread and it was wholesome and delicious - I have absolutely no idea what any of it was but have you ever taken a first bite of something and melted? That was the experience, probably helped along by how hungry and tired I was. I’ll be forever grateful to the people at the restaurant for facilitating my lack of preparation, these last 12 hours really haven’t been my best work but friendly humans are everywhere.
Hi Liz, yes I did enjoy your video 👍,That cute dog 🐕 i think would of been very friendly as he was wagging his tail which is normally a good sign, I said to myself wow what stunning autumn colours just as you said it aswell, lovely sweeping bends but shame the road surface wasn't better, glad you had a nice meal you needed it,They didn't get you to do the washing up 😂. Well done Liz you succeeded. Things got a little sketchy with no phone signal and the cash situation but you made the best of it. Enjoying all these videos and appreciate the work that goes into editing etc let alone the filming and commentary.

Sadly the bike was due its service and I couldn’t do any more miles without having to plan in a maintenance stop which would have added way too much time, so, home we went 🥲

I enjoyed watching you navigate the Bosnian mountains, but was all the while wondering if Heather and Ami were two separate people......If so, lucky Valev!
Seeing drifts of leaves on the road increased my pucker factor, that's like riding on snot. But yeah, drivers who can't keep to their lane are such a-holes. I make a point of hugging the side of the road that's the furthest from the centerline whenever there are blind curves. Seems carrying cash is still wise especially off the beaten path, too.

Bosnia is one place I havn't ever been to. Did you have to pay exra for insurance? I know it's not covered by Benetts as standard also my Phone roaming isn't working there either. That climb up to your planned stop was epic I would love that. You are not a tw** you are an adventurer great video real first hand experiance.
It didn’t cost me extra with BikeSure - just a phone call thank goodness, I really did just waltz in with absolutely no idea so a lot of things surprised me 😅 but I’d go back, with a bit of preparation and probably with other people

@@R1_Liz I've had this a few times. The degredation happens slowly so it's not noticed until the front end gets horrible. Also, most bikes come with springs suitable for an 80kg rider. Once I'm on with luggage, I can't get the sag right. I finally have all the tools to upgrade springs, valves and seals in shocks.

really enjoying your videos, but I can’t help noticing how often your audio and video are not synced together. Do you watch your videos or is this a problem you can't fix? Sorry but it's just a pet peeve because i really enjoy your content.
My own fault, I didn’t figure out how to fix it until recently, it’s only the last few clips it seems to affect - something about the fade transition throws it out of sync. Sorry!

From watching your videos, More often than not, do you find your bike navigation unreliable from freezing and not telling you where to go or sending you the wrong way? Is the bike navigation linked to your phone?
Usually it’s fairly reliable, I just highlights the times when it isn’t, and for something like this trip it’s far from the appropriate tool for the job. It’ll do everything from take me the wrong way, make up weird imaginary routes or just freeze and stop working completely. It works off my phones GPS and downloaded maps, it’s free and doesn’t use too much battery or memory, so I haven’t bothered looking at other options 😅
@R1_Liz It sounds like the Suzuki version I have on my bike. Basically it's unreliable and crap, plus it constantly disconnects.
I whole heartedly admire you for taking on this adventure, covering so many countries and miles and doing it all on your own. I really hope you're enjoying yourself while doing it all. I have had no hesitation in doing trips and things on my own, but I'm not sure I'd tackle a trip of the magnitude you're doing. I'm definitely in admiration of you. Stay safe on your travels!!!

Always best to have some emergency cash in what ever currency. I've been caught out before so always carry £100 or its equivalent!
I usually have some euros and kroners on me, but was completely unprepared for all the new currencies heading south 🤦♀️ underprepared and uneducated not a good combination 🙃
