I got the 144hz option for £1500 on sale. An absolute steal with the 3070 and i7 11800h. The 17.6 inch screen lots pretty bright (but it’s dark and winter right now) and I colour calibrated it. Overdrive is fantastic. I am using the discrete graphics only. So far I have ~100-150fps in shadow of tomb raider max settings (everything) and ultra rtx shadows (1080p). Temps are 60-70 for cpu and gpu. The benchmark also claims that I am only 70% gpu bounded, which I reckon is due to the 4.2Ghz cpu clock when using all cores (one core is also maxed out in certain situations) . Csgo runs at least 450fps getting 550 in the benchmark at 1280x1024 lowest settings. Valorant runs 250-300fps but is cpu bounded as one core is maxed. Gpu roughly 30%. (1352x1080) (I know stretched doesn’t work but I’m used to the hud so. Temps are also below 70C cpu and gpu. Only downsides are unoptimal thermal pasting on cpu as well as gpu power limits. Throttle stop has a max 10C difference between two cores during the stress test maxing at 95C at 4.18Ghz so the paste wasn’t very evenly spread. Although, the cap is at 4.2Ghz so I can’t complain too much. A -30mv undervolt gives 75-80C or 95C at 4.5Ghz on all cores Also when running Shadow of the tomb raider at 4K dsr with at least 50fps using afterburner I get regular gpu power limit triggers so an undervolt would allow the whole 2ghz clock speed to be used. All tests done with max fan (I think that is cooler boost on). Also headphone output is not too loud, I guess to protect your ears but I’ve become used to the deafening volume of my old laptop All in all I’d give 4.5 stars as there is a lack of usb ports on the left side as I’d hit them with my mouse otherwise. I can deal with the cpu maxing as when gaming use this never happens, only hitting the 4.2Ghz all core cap but at around 60-70C as not cores are 100% usage. I can deal with the Gpu power limit as the clock only drops to around 1850mhz from 2ghz but there is no significant fps drops that I can see.
@@sparshbansal6624 Yeah still runs good. There is no bloatware minus the stock MSI center can be turned off on startup. @@Ku6epIIe4eHe7 yeah, ryzen 7 5800h is insane. I got a cinebench R20 multicore score of 5027 today. Thats more than a i7-10700 DESKTOP cpu as far as i can see. It might be about the same in just gaming, but the ryzen is faster. The i7-10870h gets a laughable score of about 3650 in Cinebench 20, and consumes almost double the power to do so.
Will the MSI GS66 get a 30-series update? And if it has, will you review it? It was my favorite laptop last year and will probably be this year.
Did it not already? If not, they might be waiting for 11th gen soon.
it did get RTX30 series update, you may want to wait 1 more month though (as the 11th gen CPU version will be out by then, you can choose that or buy the 10th gen version with a lower price tag)
Hey Jarrod, is it ok to use cooling pad all the time when using heavy task? Is it really help cooling laptop ? Please reply I really want to know!!
Acer Nitro with Ryzen 5 4600H and 57 Watt battery on the topspot of battery life. what an efficient machine
My ge76 will arrive in a few days im so excited to test it 😁
i have that one, and omg its a dream laptop, be sure to update bios to get reziseble bar for more fps in games :) but yes that laptop ge76 with 3080 its just a monster laptop:D you will not be disipointed.

@@madlesssm9127 but is it in stock?🙈 i bought the i7-10870h when it first launched, when i saw the new 11th cpu i was thinking i did a huge mistake, but all i did was replaceing the ram sticks and enable xmp, and the fps got much better for all cpu heavy games, i got the same result as the new 11th cpues even the i9-11th. Went from 122fps in far cry to 140 fps, and i got 90 fps in valhalla 😊 so the faster and lower timeing ram did help me alot just to get the xtra boost out of it, but i guess if you do the same trick with the new 11th cpu you might get better porformence?
I've had this laptop for about 3 months now and I absolutely love it!
I just bought it, didn't unbox it yet. Are you satisfied with the battery performance?
@@Othman1992on after using a couple of gaming laptops now, I have learned you have to use them plugged in. You just have to treat the battery like a backup generator.
@@edwardlewis6352 In my old laptop I used to plug in and remove the battery while gaming. In new laptops I cannot remove the battery, is it okay to keep it plugged in even with the battery fully charged? Doesn't this decrease the battery's lifetime?
@@Othman1992on in the msi dragon software you can set it to only charge the battery to 60% which keeps the battery from being worn out over time. That's what mine is set to.
@@edwardlewis6352 Thanks so much for the info! Exactly what I needed!
So, Msi is back to the 1st gen gs65 era. Where it sucked battery power while gaming even with the power brick plugged in. Nice! Does the GE76 has the same issue? My GE75 (rtx2070) didn't, as it came with a 280watts brick
Comes with 230 watt brick, which should be enough to charge while playing
I wouldn`t change my ge 76 Raider with 4K 120hz display for anything

@@joelconolly5574 this laptop have power of desktop 3070, total beast
For that price, id expect freesync at least. I have never used a gaming laptop that doesnt have Gsync so im not sure if ill like it without it.
This is a very good laptop... One confusing thing about it though is today their are already 3 gens of the GP76 there is the 10th,11th and 12th gen laptops...
Add to that they have differences skus within those generations which add or remove certain things...
Like I have an older 10th gen like on this vid but on mine I do have a card reader ( still no mini display tho)...
Then on the 11 gens they added mini display port but took away the UsbC....
Then on the 12th they give you both mini display and USBC
Still any gen on this Machine is great paired with at least 3070... The lack of some ports is a bummer on some models but hey there always dongles!..
You forgot HX Version
man its a shame msi considers an SD card slot to be a "premium" feature not worthy of being on a mid-range laptop
I am thinking of buying the new Helios 300 with RTX-3070 & I7-10870, is that a good choice?
Yup definitely
Hi JT, I've seen the same laptop MSI GP76 with i9n1200h CPU with RTX 3080 going for £1400 in UK. How will performance compare with a new 4070 laptop, as difference in cost is about £350 more
When will new asus tuf and legion series reviews are coming..? Any indication
Not sure yet. Getting stuff in Australia is hard.
@@JarrodsTech :( will you be reviewing the new Dell G5 and Alienware m15?

just picked up the gp76 leopard 11UH with full power rtx 3080, with a discount of 1000 euro :D, a customer ordered it but never came to pick it up!
Wow
I have GL65 RTX 2060 115 watts from last year. I wish I can change for a new model. But still, my laptop gives me better performance.
The only reason I went with HP Omen is the lack of HDMI 2.1 on this laptop. It's nice to connect it to LG CX from time to time
Newest GP76 has HDMI 2.1 (4k60)
.I almost didn't buy mine due to lack of mini display... but then I remembered Dongles!
Dongle works great on the USBC/display port 1.4 port...
Are you going to review the new Acer Predator Helios 300? (2021 models)
Your reviews are always excellent
great review, was really happy to see you cover linux support.

shouldn't 1440p screens be a standard nowadays for at least 3070/3080 laptops?
You wont notice 2k or above on 15 to 24 inch monitor. Above 24 inch you will see significant change. For 4k you will need big monitor or tv like 40+ inch to notice change.
Laptop price here in Korea is so bad. When I was about to buy this GP76 10UH (3070), price was so bad that it cost same as Asus G15 3080 (Launching). Naturally i jumped to the 3080. But I could not be happier. Got a better. I really like to buy the GE66 as MSI never failed me. But this G15 is ok (I hope)
will you be doing the legion 5 pro Soon ?
If they send it.

Go for Msi GP76 11UG . With 3070 overclocked it’s same as rtx3080 max p. I have GP76. With 11800h and RTX 3070. Got 30,000 graphic score in Firestrike graphics , 12,000 time spy. 14,000-14200 r23 .
But I swapped to 32Gb ram kit because 16Gb is a bit tight
1080p this year is a super tough sell with other laptops going 1440p or even 16:10.
Intel too for that matter.
Awesome stuff as per usual, you should really be getting so many more views/subs. Your channel is awesome.
When do you think are the 2021 HP Omen 15 ryzen laptops coming ???
the MSI GP76 based from the price, i think in my opinion MSI made this model to compete with the ROG Strix G17 G713 wares the GE76 is the more premium one made to compete with the Scar 17
Intel i7 10750h processor? Sorry but why should I get this notebook with a year old CPU?
I would wait couple of month for the Intel 11th Gen CPU with the combination of RTX3000 or the new AMDs with MUX which will be faster.
This CPU is outdated and for 2000$ is too much, for this price you can get the Lenovo Legion 5 Pro, Asus Strix G15, G17 with newer CPU.
Should you keep the programs that it comes with? I uninstalled pretty much everything
Keep what you need, I'd keep the MSI software for changing performance modes/fan speed at minimum.
Nice video, time to work 💪 to find a way to buy it
How big is the difference between gp76 and gp66?
I'm so happy with my ge66 Dragonshield rtx2060 1tb 32gb 240hz
same here with my gl75 1660 ti i79750h
Any plans to cover the new Dell G15 with the 3060? Cheers!
Why don't laptop manufacturers thicken their products by 3 inches and have an awesome cooling solution and pump in the watts that the gpu cpu needs. I mean its a gaming laptop. I wont mind extra bulk and thickness of it improves performance.
Why world is lunging towards extreme thinness when you know you cant cool that thin of a product properly?
I would love a MSI GF63 thin 10 Gen Review, cause I want to buy it and would love a proper Video about it

Hey there! Will you review the MSI GF65 Thin, which uses the I7-10750H processor and the latest RTX 3060? Many thanks and keep up the good work!
No sd card reader? Why? How can i plug mine then?
It's pretty common that gaming laptops don't have SD slots. You would need an external reader.
11th gen tigerlake-h processors will be released in a few days. it's not a good time to buy gaming laptops now
