  • Just how bad was Nikita Mazepin as a rookie during the 2021 F1 season?
    Taking a comedic look at each race to figure out if he really was as bad as it first seemed and if there's any hope at all for the future.
    EDIT: I do know Mexico city is not in the USA, I've just forgotten to change the little slide transition beforehand if anyone was confused by that

    For anyone wondering, I forgot to change the transition before Mexico. Dw I am well aware that Mexico City is not in the US 😅
    Also, the flag was the russian one flipped the wrong way, cos the joke was the car facing the wrong way and the livery basically just being the russian flag

Mick Schumacher looked great compared to Mazepin, and then KMag comes back and we get to see that Mick Schumacher is still young and inexperienced, far off the pace of KMag. When you put that in perspective with Mazepin 2021 season, that just shows HOW BAD HE WAS. Mazepin did not deserve a seat in an F1 car.

    Until Mazepin drove in F1, Alex Yoong & Yuji Ide were the worst drivers to have raced during the 21st century. Nikita, unlike Yoong & Ide, benefited from lots of testing with Force India & Mercedes and an uninterrupted junior career in Europe. Ide & Yoong lacked testing time, plus spent a lot of their junior days in Asia. Plus Mazepin got involved in far more incidents on and off tracks. Considering Mazepin finished runner-up in GP3 & 5th in F2, Nikita has to be the worst F1 driver of 21st century. Considering Mick is now struggling against K Mag, I estimated he was up to 2 secs slower than the ultimate pace (if you put Max/Lewis/Charles in 2021 Haas)

    Edit: Your thumbnails overall look very cluttered, but your channel is actually great. I hope you eventually get the views you deserve, maybe get some inspiration from more simple thumbnails such as Perspective’s or Aldas’? I think that draws in more attention. The guy was really not fit for F1. Pretty bad mistakes even for a rookie some of these. But that's not the main point. The main point just how consistent he was at these mistakes and how he was a threat to the other drivers (like his own teammate with that stupid block attempt).

    • @Ethanoljunkie
      @Ethanoljunkie 2 года назад +3

      He was never a threat no matter how much the armchair warrior wanted to tell you. Mazepin was just another slow ass driver, nothing more nothing less. Both Schumacher and Latifi were involved in more crashes, indicendts and even WDC deciding events than Mazepin. In 2022 we still have Zhou and Latifi, we had Rio Haryanto, Chandok, Sakon Yamamoto and people like Di Grassi.
      Plus no matter how hard people wanna believe because he isnt the best driver, he would beat all of us on a track.

    I try not to focus super heavily into the negative side of things when it comes to F1 drivers, especially rookies, simply because it's not productive for me and drivers improving can only mean good things for the sport. That being said, I will say that I laughed my ass off at the incident in Bahrain when it occurred. Also, the incident at 1:50 ; if this were NASCAR, he'd probably be getting praise for this one (well, apart from the drivers.) That was a very smooth dump and run right there. Maybe he really is a better driver than anyone gives him credit for, he's just in the wrong sport.

    Werent there some controversies about his chassis being heavier due to repairs from previous season from the very beginning of the 2021 season? Also i think i remember an interview with Nikita saying he had to learn some tracks on the codemasters game. I am not sure, but i think a ferrari pal Mick and the rb dude Yuki have access to their (or at least like copies) cool pro race simulators and have more practice that way than Mazepin. And i really have a laugh seeing the stat where Mick broke his car worth more repair costs than Nikita. The performances of Schumi and Tsunoda didnt get that much better this season and the latest weekend was a mess for both. Kinda sad for not seeing if Mazepin would actually improve this year as he got just robbed of his money so that Magnussen can get points he could have fought for. Would be interesting if Nikita became a real midfield competitor, you know. Ruin a lot of expectations. But a special operation is a special operation so we’ll probably never know now
