I watched a video from Sea Eagle, the guy pointed out those folds/ripples on the hull and said just use your fist and punch at the floor board to make sure it is seated correctly and it will remove the ripples. I am getting my SE 385FT tomorrow and looking forward to using it soon. The video said only fill up the main tubes 50-75% so you can position the floor board correctly before filing all the sections 100%.
Great video by the way, I enjoyed
your take on the SE 385 FT.
Explorer tracks good just so much drag on the lake
I've had one for 4 years and love it.
Excellent video - thank you. I've been looking for a kayak for small lake recreation and some light fishing. After looking at all the options, I think the 385 FTA is for me. The flexibility and transportability that this model offers is beyond what I thought I'd be able to get in a single kayak. My wife has decided she wants too so we're looking forward to having fun and enjoying the peacefulness of paddling. I don't know your wife's condition but positive thoughts are headed her way. Thanks again!
Thank you so much and enjoy your new glide. She’s a good yak :)
Funny, you and I inflate in the exact reverse order, keel first, floor last. Anyway, I have had my FastTrack for seven years. It has not declined.
Lol. I find it work better this way for me.
Nice video. I just got my Sea Eagle Fasttrack this week. Will be testing it out on an upcoming camping trip. I'm excited to get it in the water. I'm new to kayaking and have been researching various brands. I like the fact that they give you 120 days to try it out and they have used kayaks that I saved $150 on.
Yes, it’s a great kayak. Mine is for sale and included two of the upgraded seats, bow bag, two paddles and the quick sail. :). We still have our Paddleski and just purchased a sail boat, so have to unload something. Lol
I don’t know why he would want to test the kayak w/o a skeg. They make that for a reason. I have a kay that has front and back fins. If there is wind and you are paddling with two people you have to have the fins. Nice video.
Enjoyed your video! I have the same two boats as you do. Have not had a chance to really use them much, but will next week when we spend five days at Lake Degray in Arkansas. Bought an E Propulsion Spirit electric motor ( competitor to Torqeedo) for the 437 and a Newport trolling motor for the 385. In your previous boat video you were using a Newport trolling motor on the 437. Have you tried it yet on the 385?
Thank you. No, the FastTrack is pretty much just for paddling with perhaps a Bixby later on. On the 437 we have a 2.5 hp, the bow mounted trolling motor and a Newport for E-paddling. Plenty of options :). Hope you have a great time on your trip and exploring your SeaEagle products. Great choices!
I noticed you had a deluxe inflatable seat as well. How does it compare with the standard seat? Prefer or not? Visually it looks a little narrow and too high for good stability.
Hi, the inflatable seat I believe came with the original package, we since have upgraded to two tall back seats. Well worth the money. :)
From 7:04 to 7:20 -) Look at all the ripples on the hull of the boat. Not sur about the efficiency to cut through water. Should be the smoothest possible. Just wondering.
Great video!
Thank you for watching. Appreciate you pointing that out. As far a cutting through the water, the yak did great and tracked very well, so not sure if it could even be more improved by your observation. Will pay more attention to it the next time I have it out. Thank you
Great video! I went boating today and forgot to attach the skeg. I completely agree with your point regarding the presence of the skeg. I have one question. Do you think the length of the skeg has an effect on tracking? There are skeg 9" deep (almost vertically; mine is sweeping, as it came with Sea Eagle 385ft).
Hi and thank you. Not sure on the lenght of the skeg, just as long as it takes you beyond the depth of waves/current. I would think any skeg will do that fits your yak. Enjoy and be safe!
@@roadnotesrv thank you. I will experiment with both.
Thanks so much for the review. What kind of electric pump is this? Thanks!
The kind that Sea Eagle offers as an add on. Well worth the extra money in our opinion:)
Here is a link to the pump: www.seaeagle.com/Accessories/pumps/bp12-single-stage-electric-pump-with-battery
Thanks so much!!!
The razor lite is better....
Yes it definitely is.
Super Video 😊
Thank you 🙏
