Last year in July/August i'd just left Doncaster Dome to go home but stopped in my car to watch an approaching thunderstorm. It went black very quickly and there was constant thunder and lightning followed by torrential rain. I saw a huge bolt of lightning hit some trees about 300 yrds from the car park and it sounded like a bomb went off afterwards. I got out of there as quickly as i could in case of a another CG.
Awesome. Well done, Gordon. The cell we had overhead collapsed, one crack of thunder and that was it.... Great stills of the bolts over Morecambe Bay 👍

Well done, Gordon ,again. Thanx for putting in the hard yards for us couch-chasers ! 'Tis appreciated. Aldi bag/ To protect your camera? Which cost HOW much ? Nowt but th' best for thee ,eh , lad ?! Last week was good Monday to Weds, but the big set-up to the south , across the midlands ,that threatened to be quite the powderkeg was a flop. Story of my life! Had high hope for last Friday, after that heat- 34 degrees at New Brighton , at one point, but, once again ,it all set up beautifully, , hot, bit o' rain, couple of hours of the previous day's powerful sun ,very little wind ,and........it all buggered off to the north-east , like I half-expected. Damn you , Pennines, and your steering effect !. Stii ll , summer's still young , so who can tell ? All your effort makes me realise just how difficult it is to actually "chase" in this country . The road network ain't up to it, and it takes forever to get anywhere. So , even more well-done, Sir.
Nice shots there mate. We had a Beefy Thunderstorm here in Peterborough 2 days ago which had literally constant lightning activity and we even had a twister in Thorney (15 miles East of Peterborough) i wished I captured some of the storm for you but the battery on my phone was low and it needed charging.
some fantastic lightning shots there in the dark especially the one that seemed to go back on itself, keep up the great work and I hope the storms that are forecast for next week happen and that you get more great lightning shots and thunder sounds
Grimsby us getting hammered right now a double cell is moving over I am watching it on the radar. A heavy rain shower missed my area by about a mile or so got a great view of the towering cloud definitely some cell development going on
Hi there. I've just discovered your channel and I love it. I had a lifelong phobia of thunderstorms until I had to have a prolonged time on steroids which seemed to cure my phobia. Now I love to watch them and now I've found you I shall be watching your adventures. Thank you
You should have spent a few days in Crewe recently, 6 storms in 4 days each one bigger than the previous, much of the town suffered serious flooding after 3 months of rain fell in just 4hrs. I have captures loads of video and photos, i will contact you on Facebook for you to see. Regards Jason Griffiths, Crewe.
Dude, you should use the Netweather app for precipitation; it's much better than My Lightning Tracker (IMO). Much more detail. Good to use in conjunctio with My Lightning Tracker as the lightning detection in the Netweather app ain't so good. (Wish LightningMaps had an app!) Other than that, I LOVE your channel! Seemingly the only serious UK storm-chasing channels on RUclips! Love the enthusiasm. Thunderstorms fvkkin' RULE! Hope you've been able to see the noctilucent clouds also, aye! :D
there is a system coming from off Africa through Northern France as we speak. In the Camgridgshire area as we speak. Coming your way any time within the next 3 hrs. hope it's bigger than it looks. read constantly. today 28/10/20
Great video again. Was watching the video with a nice brew and then get a lightning tracker warning about lightning in the area so went out to go see and it is beginning to really kick off up on the Isle of Skye where i live
@@stormchasernodrog haha i was watching one of your old videos last night the one where you was at harrowside bridge i think its called in the early hours lol
Subbed! Love your enthusiasm for meteorology! Don’t know if you’ve heard of him but Pecos Hank (RUclips channel) is a fantastic storm chaser who does educate on his videos a bit. I do have some lightning/thunderstorm videos myself.
Hi mate only just found your videos and there great . Can I ask what your camera setup is , I’m struggling to decide on my cameras for storm chasing thanks buddy
Are there any attachments that can be attached to or apps that capture when lightning is about to happen, so that you have the chance to video without having to leave the camera rolling.
The storms have definitely been good this week for the west Middlands, Suffolk and many places in the north of England. On London we had one mad rain bomb storm on Wednesday night at around 11pm it was a real rainbomb, my road is on a hill it was a curb to curb river. We also had a little bit of thunder, no lightning visible and Tuesday. Next weekd potential for my area and Middlands is very great, the potential for continental storms to track across to the southeast is high, I am not sure to be excited or nervous, these storms if they are continental could have tornadoes. I hope we see some amazing videos of lightning and storm structure next week. Wednesday Moderate cells most likely from South Wales towards Humberside. Thursday, homegrown cells in many places Friday and Saturday Potential for continental storms tracking over into the UK. Check theweatheroutlook.com there are many good charts on there.
Huge supercell storm heading straight for Clacton. This system that's pushed over Kent and London is very weird it has like a smooth blob at the north and many separate cells and hailstorms at the south. Can someone explain why this is happening. It almost appears as an anvil cloud this is where the smooth radar image is and to the southeast is all the cell development.
Hi Gordon I was just wondering where you got your tripod from as it looks like a good strong sturdy one and I'm looking for a tripod just like that one, great video again by the way just love it how you manage to capture the lightning, for me I keep missing them any useful tips on how to capture the best shots of lightning plz
This tripod I’ve had for nearly 20 years! One of the best I’ve ever used. Fluid head and heavy. As regards filming you’ll be just grand with a smart phone. The quality these days is excellent however my Canon camera 🎥 will capture the lighting better as it’s not sent to a memory card. It’s HDV thus better frame rate capture at 50fps interlaced. 👍 I’ll chat about it one time on camera for you ⚡️
Hi I recommend watching and following a RUclips channel called Pecos Hank. He chases great thunderstorms in the US and is an expert on tornadoes too, for example if there is cool wind blowing it won't produce a tornado but warm winds more than likely will.

In my area it hasn't thundered since Tuesday, but it's been a cracking storm in Holland.
Looking good next week 🥳⚡️
