hey Chris, thanks for this video, great news, thanks for testing.., could you make a hack to use this syncbox with led stripes for a 120''' screen for my UST LCD Projector? if someone can do this then you ;) unfortunately it is only till 90'' tv at the moment.. maybe you have an idea to get it on 120inch ;)
no problems with colors washed on HDR contents ?
I wonder if it would work with a video wall 4 55in tv
Does the sync box work with earc?
"3:20" Can you provide a link to this video?
Chris - I know you probably won't read this, but I can tell you that I've been struggling for years to understand LEDs, how to make them look good, etc - and from this channel., its literally visual ASMR to see how happy you get when lights look good. I trust you and only you for anything LED/Custom and I wanted to thank you for helping an old geezer like me with these things. Keep up the great work, your channel is severely underrated
Appreciate it!! Thanks so much for the kind words and glad you are enjoying the videos! It's a fun hobby to get into for sure! Hope you have a blessed day buddy!
The pixel matching is pretty incredible. The Govee one pretty much just does color blocks.
I like my govee still
What did u mean by color blocks?
also the camera ugly af
@@yasasalawattegeneral colour areas, not as accurate
Is govee as good?
I really want to see this with Ghost of Tsushima and Mirror's Edge. Both games use color really well. Doom looked REALLY good with it.
I am completely blown away by this!!!! This is definitely better than the other brands... thank you for posting this, I see now, I need to change all of my lights to this brand!!
Nice to see there is no camera like my Govee. And I'm always happy to see an alternative to any crappy Phillips Hue
I don't think hue is bad at all, just expensive.... If they were all the same price I'd buy hue in a heartbeat, especially since I can use the ceiling lights for video effects.
Die Kamera hat aber den Vorteil, dass man damit auch die internen TV Apps nutzen kann (Netflix usw.) - eben ohne weitere Hardware, Sticks usw.
No camera yes. But anything played thru a smart TV won't work. Only external sources thru hdmi. I also worry about it working with hdmi 2.1 with 4k 120hz and HDR. Not to mention freesync, or gsync. Maybe I'm wrong but I doubt it
What govee camera are you referring to? Was that covered in this video? All I saw was the lymi light kit?
@@J2thebar yep, that was my exact thing about Philips Hue and when it came to gaming… have a next gen gaming console, a nice OLED tv I got on sale but then I’m going to sacrifice the graphics and frame rate because a stupid lighting strip doesn’t support 2.1 HDMI or 120 HZ. Had to find an alternative. Really thought they Govee camera would annoy the crap out of me but on a 65” TV for a few months now I don’t even notice. And not sure what you have but was going to make sure you have the new T2 camera. So much better!!
Color accuracy and responsiveness looks amazing except for a couple of scenes with green colors. It seems to struggle with that quite a bit actually. There was a scene with nearly all green leaves around the edges of the screen and the LEDs were white and teal. Other than that it looks fantastic.
7:50 is an example
I see what you mean and as someone who knows the tech this limitation is really surprising. The RGB LEDs have pure green right in them and the box is (99% sure) processing an RGB image passing over HDMI..
@@JB-fh1bb To be fair, I've watched some other videos with different products and they also seem to struggle with greens. I'm not sure what's going on with processing that is causing this mismatch.
@@amason94 Just so odd. Since it's common, maybe it's something about the green colour signal itself? There is usually some processing in the display pipeline not just because of the difference in the light from the red, green, and blue sub-pixels on a display, but also because the human eye has a perceived brightness of each colour that's different than the colour itself (for example the Helmholtz-Kohlrausch effect).
yes like 8:40 as an example the picture is nothing like purple for some reason when the box doesn't know what to to uses default light with is light purple, 8:41 the picture is all yellow and it's showing light purple
Wow! They beat Hue to their own game. I’m heavily invested in hue but I can certainly say I’m going to try this
Same. Wtf Philips! I feel like I'm being scammed by them after watching this lol. They've been sitting on their thumbs.
Same lol, after paying like 700 for the hue setup... this sounds great. I been waiting for phillips to release a new sync box but I think ill try this in the TV that does not have a syncbox and depending on how great it is ill replace my other hue sync. oh well haha, I tried the GOVEE T2 but regretted it and ended up returning it and keeping my hye box.
@@nalrodriguez I always thought the Govee was a half ass setup so I didn’t buy into it. I read somewhere that Hue is updating their sync box to a 2.1 but there’s no official word from hue. So this lytmi setup gonna have to do
@@nalrodriguez feel like I was in a similar situation with company’s but I previously had gotten and gifted a few Govee products and thought they were great for the money (I just hated you can’t use Apple HomeKit with them but hopefully that will soon change since they’re going to Matter). But I also got a nice 65” LG OLED TV to setup with my PS5. And holy cow I didn’t know what I was missing. Obviously next gen consoles are the best but feel like it got even better/ a newer game console when I got that TV so was super bummed that Hue couldn’t run the main software/ performance for the PS5. So have Govee a try and actually got use to the camera which I thought I wouldn’t but 65” it’s not bad plus I see people hide the cameras now. But long story short, took me a while to get it dialed and wanted to return it until seeing some videos and calling Govee. Once I configured the color, saturation, etc. it’s spot on now and killer for the money!
@@p3tran I was hoping when I got a Hue gradient setup, that the blues would actually match the screen, unlike the $35 kit I got off AliExpress that works with my PC. Turns out the LED quality is exactly the same, and the blues don't match the exact same way my $35 strip doesn't. Also the $35 strip allows me to match each LED to an area on the screen, getting PERFECT matchup between LED and screen unlike Hue. I still prefer my $35 setup a million times over my Hue one, and it cost less than a tenth of the price, and covers the entire screen not just the top and sides. Also plenty of times my Hue lights stop syncing in the middle of a movie and have to restart my phone, restart the app, do a ton of different things before its fixed. Latency is also a bit worse. My $35 AliExpress set up? Works 100% of the time, everytime. Philips is absurdly overrated and absurdly expensive.
Your plant makes the background light look cooler
Okay.. this needs to STOP right now! My wife's going to kill me for all the recent LED related purchases LOL! (though I' think she'll appreciate how good this one is)
Couldn't resist.. just placed an order for one of these babies.
Thanks for a great video!
This is insane, I remember couple years back Philips TVs had this Ambilight lighting built in, thx!
Some of the newer TV's are starting to have it built in too!
They look so bright and accurate color display!
Seeing a new video from you makes my day. Thanks for being the first to shine light on these dope new products.
Thank you my good man. I discovered you channel a while back and it has opened my eyes to some great potential. After ten years of not having a home I finally have a wonderful place to call my own with great lighting potential. I've a few quid coming and I'm going to comb through these vids again and take your good advice. I appreciate your work brother.
Never seen anything better, this is the first I'll would spend my cash on.
I was just thinking about how cool something like this would be and bam someone made it already
I wish govee would come out with a sync box... I love the fact that I can sync their lightbulbs.. but they don't have the same immersion that this one has
They will get there. Lookup govee ai cogniglow, it's the closest they have
They are. But its hdmi 2.0
Their syncbox is out but 299 is a higher price than expected i guess and tbh - already Hue niveau ( but only in price ).
LEDs ❤❤❤sDEL
Epic production, Chris! I just released a Hue 4K 120Hz work around, and will be adding a link to your video in comments. I also have Govee which I've compared to Hue, and this Lytmi blows them out of the water 🤯 FINALLY, thank you for such a comprehensive review. I can confidently sit this one out, at least in terms of review 😅
That's awesome! I'll have to check out that video for sure!! Hey there is always room for more opinions and reviews of products! If you get your hands on one you should for sure make a review! Thanks so much!
@@ChrisMaherDIY Is it sync only trough input HDMižI videos, but videos played directly from TV it cant sync, am I right?
Pretty dope but cant justify the $200 price tag. My girl would blast me ass on this one. Good video mate.
This is an impressive product. Glad they didn't skimp on the HDMI specs. It would be even better if there was some way to get it to talk to ESP controllers or add additional strips to it like in your bigger media setup.
But they did skimp on the HDMI specs since the sync-box can't do VRR friend :(
@@NinjaDog578 Maybe through a future software update?
@@NinjaDog578 VRR is only for console players. Im on PC and havent noticed a difference so far my games feel exactly the same.
@@SubZyYT VRR/Freesync/Gsync is definitely not just a console thing and is essential for a box like this if you are a gamer.
But at what cost to response time for gaming?
I have the Neo 2.0 box and I like it a lot for it's simplicity, but the latency is noticeable in faster color movement. This looks a lot more performant!
Ok, I think this is the one. I’ve wanted something for a while but they all seem to be lacking somewhere but this looks like a complete package. Thanks! I’ll be sure to use your referral link.
Looks really great, thx for sharing. The 4 port 4K 120HZ Bix is a big plus fir me, too. 😁
This is incredible! Another fantastic video as usual Chris 🔥💥
Chris, I am blown away by how well it does with the color, accuracy and speed. I have one question. What if you want to use your own higher dense LED lights? Can you do that or do you have to have their lights that come with the system?. Great video!.
You have to use included lights. Honestly I'm not sure you would want to use anything else they are quite good
@@J2thebar Too bad. There are much better LED strip lights than these. I know because I have them. I have 5m long and each 1m has 630 LED lights. That is 3,150 LED lights in a 16.4 feet strip. You can't even see the individual LED lights. That's how dense they are.
@@yusuf6778and that's some noticeable while they project some diffuse light on the wall?
@@eleh1337 they are noticeable both brightness and color
Does the Lytmi box also handle Audio Pass through? Some folks are using eARC for audio support. But in effect, every device needs to pass through this box, then pass the box to the TV?
You can view the manual from their site and it states "HDMI CEC, VRR, ALLM, QMS, and ARC / eARC functions are not supported" So that's unfortunate and would be useless for me on my TV as I wouldn't give up my sound for the lights
Does HDMI eArc transmit video as well as audio on the return? Because for someone like me whose TV doesn’t have any external devices hooked up and solely uses the TV’s Smart OS for streaming, how would I incorporate a device like this to my setup?
"There's no way to use Atmos or some other codec if you only use the TV's smart OS, unfortunately
@@Boss3388 bollocks
Can you test this with VRR? The manual says it doesn’t support many things (ALLM, ARC/EARC, CEC, QMS) that users would find useful but for games VRR is essential. So even if it does support 120hz 4k if it doesn’t work with VRR it’s DOA.
Yup, won't buy a sync box until it supports HDR and VRR at 4K/120hz. 120hz without VRR is pointless since nothing you would use on a TV is locked that high.
Will this work with a receiver/home theatre system?
Where did you get all the great video examples from?
Yet another great video, thanks for the info. I like how you do not need the intrusive camera.
Finally one without noticeable lag. Just picked one up pre-order.

AMAZING! I bought my Logitech G560 Lightsync Speakers when i first bought my PC to go along with my Logitech Mouse, and Keyboard. Together with Logitech Ghub there is a Mirror Sync option just like this, I LOVE these Speakers not only for the sound but for the Incredibly immersive experience, and quick and accurate color matching to whats going on with the screen...THIS is the next step, and I'm considering these Lytmi lights for My TV. What a great review, this sync box looks unbeatable. It's such an extra layer of immersion!
wow amazing sync box! It looks as good as the newest Ambilight in Philips Tvs!
Looks, fine but a few things to complain:
1. why always app logins? This is really unncessary, there is no benefit from it at all beside collecting data
2. more LEDs only make sense if the TV is close to the wall, getting further away just make specific colors disappear as they are blended over by surrounding lights, so sometimes more is less
3. but the real catch is 4K HDR support, not sure if does support it, otherwise its seem not really better than other solutions to me
I guess it doesn't work on built in features (netflix app, prime video app, disney app) that you don't go through an hdmi cable to get to the screen... The only solutions I found for this are camera based and they are a bit laggy and not too keen on scene/color match
Hyperion = fix
Anyone with actual personal use/experience wanna chime in on their take in considering the $200 price tag for this Fantasy 3 versus the ridiculous clearance-like price of $84.50 for the Fantasy 2 that's valid until Apr 5? I'm considering either, but not sure if the Fantasy 2 is really THAT far behind the 3 in terms of performance for someone who doesn't game, and doesn't have an HDR tv.
This almost sold me to replace my Hue Sync setup but it still has major compromises.
1. No IR means you can’t turn it on without opening the app
2. No VRR or ALLM
3. No arc/earc passthrough.
Add these and I’m sold.
This is truly incredible. Thank you for the review!! Amazing accuracy, precision, color, etc.. But what about most movies, tv shows, non-animated type stuff like… action movies for example? 😊
Глаза устанут. Это как на Филипсе игровой режим.
This is ALMOST perfect. It looks great, but it doesn't appear to support HDR, VRR, and other important hardcore gaming features. The 4k@120hz is a step in the right direction. I'll be waiting a little longer it seems.
The Pro version has been officially released VRR & ALLM certified but unfortunately still no HDR & HDMI - CEC
@@Canedra Deal-breakers. I'm not even sure why release it if it doesn't have HDR. I mean... what 4k, 120HZ, VRR monitor/TV isn't HDR?
@@AnthonyMcCulleyI get your point buddy but option wise this is our best choice right now, our alternatives is Govee's set which is inaccurate and illumination is all over the place and Philips TVs which their latest line up doesn't even include the bottom led strip forcing us to buy their light bar instead 😬
@@Canedra I agree on all those points. Not trying to bash it, just saying I'll need to wait a little longer before I dive into this accessory. I've had a Govee before (with the camera) and it worked quite well, but the wiring, camera, different room lighting levels, etc would all cause some hiccups.

Hi Chris. I have a home cinema ampli where all my devices are plugged, and from where a unic HDMI câble go to the TV : would it work if I plug the sync box between amp and TV ?
Would also like to know if this would work if anyone has tried it and has an answer?
Very impressive, I would switch but unless it can sync with other govee products I’ll have to wait until govee does their own
Does this device work if you are only using your tv as a source? Do you need external device like fire tv or something like that. Because I know that you need that for hue box.
Great and easy setup, but is it HDCP compatible, and does it work with apps like Netflix, Disney+, HBO Max....etc?
I'm not seeing what the Lytmi Fantasy 3 OUTPUT is. One thing to watch out with these capture cards is they'll take 4k input, but then output 1080p, which sucks if you have a 4k TV.
Good point. Haven’t checked the specs on the website yet but would like to hear what Chris is saying
imagine having this in a home cinema with a super big tv or projector and lay back with popcorn and watch your fav movie on a 100 inch tv or projector WITH sync box :0
that demon slayer scene looks soooo much better with the lights, it felt asif the attect were coming out from outside the tv or falling out the tv omgggggg
Can VRR support be updated via firmware? Also, does the lack of VRR support only pertain to backlight functionality, or does it also prevent the TV and console from utilizing VRR?
I'm actually pretty impressed, especially at this price point!
Have you tried Hyperion/HyperHDR? The results look very similar, but this setup is much more straightforward and a bit less expensive.
Do the inputs support HDMI CEC? As in, if you turn on a game console will it automatically switch inputs, or do you have to mess with the app every time?
The issue is there are no HDMI 2.1 capture and passthrough cards. When that happens it will be better. The HDMI 2.1 is the huge deal here
@@JosephHarry Precisely. If I could find a passthrough that does 4k at 120hz, I would go with Hyperion in a heartbeat. I'm not sure this device will integrate with Home Assistant.
@@WhoCares2509 i want home assistant so much for everything
Does anyone know if this device supports HDCP handshake and if it works with streaming apps like Netflix and Disney+?
Philips hue you watching ?
That looks very good, I am now using the Govee Envisual TV Backlight T2
Does it support HDR on the passthrough? You mentioned the resolutions and refresh rates supported but does it allow HDR to continue to work from your NVIDIA shield to the TV?
It suggests on the site in the specs that it supports HDR (HDR10 and Dolby Vision), but not that is specifically passes it through.
@@frankmthompsonTheir last lytmi box said it supported it as well. Turns out it was reproducing super washed out colors and looked faded when those modes were enabled.
my Lytmi fantasy 2 has been awesome but after spending about $250 in additional equipment to TRY to get my HTPC to properly display at 4k 144hz on my tv while still having the backlit, I gave up and just set it to solid color when I game. This looks promising and well worth the price. Another thing I like is that the Lytmi products I've had so far all work inside the Smart Life app which is great for consolidating all the smart apps I have, just means 1 less app needed.
I’ve been waiting for this technology to progress to at least this level before I buy. Might just be time to click the button. 👍
I ordered mine cause of this video 😍 I can't wait to set it up. Too bad it's taking forever to receive it. I've had my order since March 28.
Legit! Thank you for all your videos 👌🏼
Do these lights work with roku TV's that have built in apps like Netflix or Crunchyroll?
Did u ever work this out? My understanding is it won't work as the capture device can't decide the stream
now they need to come out with floor lamps and it will be great.
I ordered my unit yesterday. I have a question though. I'm trying the Fantasy 2 Kit right now and the LEDs are very dark compared to my hue Gradient. Is it something you noticed with the Fantasy 3 kit?
In your Video the LEDs look bright and vivid. My Fantasy 2 are dim with washed out colors in SDR and HDR. Also white appears blue-ish like on cheap LED stripes, and yellow is basically washed out green. I played the same Footage like you. The Anime scene for example isn't even close.
I wonders if there is a difference between the LEDs being used in the Fantasy 2 and 3 Kit
This for sure has an advantage over stuff like Govee Dreamview by going through a box instead of needing a camera. The zone accuracy seems very high as well.
Those also need a box. So it's not an "instead" it's an "in addition to"
Does this support variable refresh rate?
You ever tried hyperhdr?? Trying out at the mo. Impressive.
Did what you used work with Netflix? I hear the capture boxes can't decode it, so it doesn't work...??
How do you change inputs on the box? If everything is hooked into the TV with ie: HDMI input 1. Then I cant use the TV controller to switch inputs on the TV? I have to use their app? or does it come with a controller? Sorry if I missed you talking about this in the video
The Philips sync box still has the advantage of syncing multiple lights at once. It controls light strips under my couch, end table lamps, floor lamps, ceiling lights, etc. The immersion is unmatched
No HDMI 2.1 tho 😔
@@gregors00 who’s buying a Philips sync box for gaming? Especially at those frame rates. Maybe the casual couch gamer will do it. I’m sure gen 2 will have 2.1, but most consumers buy it for their home movie theaters.
Pricy alas. Sync box + led + bridge is almost double of govee or lytme cost.
And if you add other light sources, the price goes through the roof
Phillips has 0 advantage over the Govee ai box. This product has a couple of features that Govee is lacking. Totally black segments, and turning the lights off when the tv is off are the only ones I wish Govee had.
I think the lyteme now has the. Ability to sync multiple lights
Yes sir! I’m looking into this.
Seriously. How has no-one found out what this demo video is yet with the dancing squares???? 🤯🤯😂😂
Ok the demon slayer clip sold me on the lytmi 👌🏾
Interesting maybe for the next tv I've had pretty good luck with the Govee T2 and Neon Rope kit. Also is there a link to the ambi demo video?
How does this compare to the govee backlight 3 lite?
Does it have colour correction? I have my TV mounted to not a white wall and curious if it can account for that like the Govee version does.
Thanks for the video. I have a question that you might be able to answer: How can I watch my Smart TV apps via the Fantasy 3 Box with background lighting? Everything that is plugged in via HDMI works perfectly (PC, Playstation etc) and is also recognised in the app, but the TV apps (Smart TV apps) are not synchronised. I have connected the Fantasy Box with HDMI TV Out to the TV, but somehow I have no signal from the TV to the box. Thank you in advance.
Btw there is no eARC/CEC support on the HDMI sync box for this which is a huge deal breaker for me. Otherwise its a great, cheaper alternative to phillips hue.
I'm a phillips boy but only because they had a monopoly on the TV sync light market. I know I paid close to or maybe a little over $300.00 so I'm interested in this
Do these boxes support streaming services yet?
Awesome
But can it be compatible with WLED or Signal RGB? Still trying to figure out a good complete system for ambilight.
I wonder if you can use the sync box with an HDMI splitter that does 1 input 2 outputs, cause on my side i'm planning to have a gaming setup with a lot of consoles (Xbox 360, Wii, PS2 (yeah via an HDMI upscaler), PS3, PS4, Switch etc..) so yeah i'd need at least 8+ ports available..
this is the best tv upgrade i have see in my life.. little too much expensive for me., but i really like this syatem ❤
Omg this looks amazing. Better then govee and Phillips
I really like the Lytmi Fantasy 3 Kit. Have had it myself for a few days, but unfortunately HDR doesn't seem to work properly with Playstation 5 and Xbox Series S. Partly the LEDs are just white on where there is no light and also e.g. the red is washed out to an orange. Does anyone else have the problem and maybe a workaround?
Does it pass trough Dolby Atmos? I wonder how this setup should look with a soundbar an Apple tv in the mix? Who would be connected to who.
I assume it won't work with the tv tuner or apps built into the TV right?
looks awesome Chris i have seen them on Instagram posts and thought they looked good !
The day that someone makes one of these with CEC compatibility, I’m sold. Lack of CEC is a deal-breaker for me.
Cec?
Is that basically ark ?
@@RoraighPrice no, ARC sends audio back down the HDMI. So you can have a cable box plugged into your TV, and a stereo receiver, and it can send audio from the cable box to the stereo receiver.
CEC is the function where if I turn my TV on, it turns on the peripheral, or if I power up my game system, the TV automatically turns on and switches to that input. That way you don’t need one remote to turn on the stereo, one for the AppleTV, and another one for the TV itself, just to turn everything on. It usually also allows you to control volume, and sometimes other functions, so in an ideal world you only need one remote most of the time.
Consumer Electronics Control, this way the devices can talk to each other. The goal is to have only one remote. It makes the TV turn on and switch to the correct channel if you turn on one device. It could also be the other way: if you switch your tv to te hdmi input of (for example) a playstation, it turns the playstation on.
It also works on standby. If you turn one device in standby, the other connected devices will go to standby also. If you turn the Playstation off, it also turns of the amplifier and the tv.
If the devices are compatible it also has a system wide audio control, so no more 3 volume stages (dvd player, tv, amplifier), but only one.
Even more so is the lack of VRR
@@MrDragonorp VRR?
I have a 75 inch tv in my bedroom and the wall showing on the sides of the tv are only 5-6 inches. Would this be a good idea to buy or would it look weird?
Does the input box work with ARC devices or will that functionality be lost?
Also, how do you switch inputs?
No ARC. I emailed them about ARC and HDR10+ support and they said this
"I am sorry that the Neo 3 box does not support ARC but you can adjust the connection way
to realize the ARC function.
FYI:
HDMI Input devices→ Neo 3 box → AVR → TV or HDMI Input devices→ Neo 3 box → TV → AVR
And about the HDR 10+, it is still not stable for the Neo box to support it."
The compatibility on the TV synchronisation switch only says Sony and Xiaomi. Will it still work on my 55 inch LG C2 chris? Thank you for great calming top quality videos.
here I was about to get the govee T2 setup and you drop this video 🤯
Really great review when one side of your tv is up against a brick wall! Also failed to mention that it currently costs £162!!
Where can i find that ambilight demo that you show at 3:17?
I have the first version and if the lights on this one get as hot as the original they are not staying stuck on. The first one I'm always having to re stick the clamps as it didn't come with sticky tape all along the strip. And the color accuracy was ok. And I went through 2 hdmi boxes in a week before getting one that's lasted 5 months.
Could you add a link for the ambilight tester channel in your description plz?
How can I connect a sync box to my Apple TV ? I need help because the Apple TV only has one HDMI slot idk what to do
Hmpf...now I'd just need a TV :D (no, I don't own a TV currently, haven't bought one so far...but I soon will and hook up a gaming PC to it and then I'd want this ambilight)
Should I return my govee t2? And get this instead I want it to be as accurate as possible mostly just for movies.
My 75" TV sits about ~14" off the wall. Do you think this is too far away that the colors would just blend together and lose intensity, or do you think it would still work?
nice setup and no need for a camera now on this one , i want one sometime for my 43 inch TV .
