    I've put almost 11k miles on my 2023 DesertX in 10 months. I ride mostly in north and west Texas.
    The DesertX is an absolutely stellar ADV bike. Will be taking a Rally for a ride as soon as my local dealer gets one in.

    With roads now that bad in England I would consider one but I'd be falling off at every stop.

    10:45 dunno who Simon is (or what he says… but I won’t do it!) but a bike you can buy in 2024 has a seat height of 935mm! It’s the Gasgas 700 supermoto (never ridden it..I am afraid of heights). Did I win something? A Ducati desert x rally (or the standard) would be appreciated.

    Also KTM 950 Adventure S were 915mm. Had one with a " Rally " seat that made it even higher 😮

      KTM 950 Super Enduro seat height 965mm; got a great deal as no-one else in Istanbul at that time could get on it :)

    Sweet bike. I'm glad it exists to introduce competition into smaller adventure bikes. Pricey though. I imagine one could get a Pol Tarres T7 clone for a similar price. It's not so much being able to afford one as it is being able to afford to crash it when there's equally if not more capable bikes for half the price.

    Love the looks but the seat height is a bit challenging compared to my Multi V2S….

    Well, unfortunately, I think to ride it off road as designed it's way too expensive. Ducati is known for very expensive parts and maintenance. Stunning looking bike. Need to win a lotto 1st.
    I would be nervous to drop it.
    Great review.

    Great review. However there are minor flaws what #Ducati need to improve in their next year's Desert X like the unavailable heated grips, Weight of the bike which is a bit too much, its quite smaller Windscreen, it's chosen stock Tires, & low front Fender on the non Rally base model. If all of those would be corrected. This bike would be amazing. Especially if you replace the exhaust with an aftermarket one.
    I guess the height of the bike is just enough because it's used after all into different terrain especially in rough roads. For some who can't able to reach the floor with their two feet. It's fine I think they could just adjust height into their preference. There are also some taller guys who wants this bike so it makes it even. Anyway, opting for shorter is way difficult as it makes their leg cramp in a long ride.
    Also on a side not why is this bike's red bar frame is bulging at the tail end. It really upset the looks which isn't normal to an adventure bike or it's rivals. Yes, it helps a bit when you need to yank the bike, but the Factory can able to put it on the side or maybe not. It doesn't matter anyway.

    I'm hesitating between this model and the Triumph Tiger GT Pro 2024 model. I think i will do 80/30 touring and 20/30 off-road. Which model would you recommend?😢

      Price is big difference. Ducati better off road

      Best value is Triumph (my choice) …but if you have the money and might regret…go Ducati.

      Tiger GT Pro will make a better road bike and it's less expensive. Unless you are real hero you'll probably never reach the Bikes limit off road.

    It's not an ADV bike, but Honda's XR650l has a 37 inch (about 940mm) seat height. I'd assume that there are taller non street legal motorcycles though.

    So you've been riding in dust all day . Now comes time to clean the air filter , is it not a tank off operation?

    For most people the Ducati Multistrada v2 is the ideal bike. And for off road the normal desert x, or even the desert sled would do more than fine. This rally version is mostly unaccessble by price, but even by seat height. Overkill, for most.

    So it’s basically an original Africa Twin Adventure Sports before the coffee touring boys had their way.

    So it’ll do well in the cultural “desert” that is Neasden then?
    Chuckling aside at the sheer pointlessness of it in the UK, it’s a great review and hugely informative 👍🏻👍🏻

    Lol, I quite like Chad these days, but to have him doing the same bike review on two different channels, released on the same day, is a bit pointless.

    This bike is on the top of my list but the one major drawback is that is too tall for me.. come on Ducati, make it more approachable for shorter riders

    It's a sexy beast. would I trade in my 23 890 R for it? Hell no. I can drop that bike all day long and it just make it more beautiful. Drop this bike and your out 1K min repairs. Not to mention the general maintenance on this is so expensive. This is a rich mans 890 R. Very few people can ride either of these to their limits. But I feel like I'm getting more than my moneys worth with my 890 R.

    Is it better than the tenere though?

    • @Rust_valley_adventures
      @Rust_valley_adventures 7 месяцев назад

      99 percent of the time yes, for slow technical hard technical riding terrain the tenere is a better choice for offroad, for easy intermediate offroad and on road the desert x all day

      Absolutely. If you're a good enough rider to find any daylight on the T7 over this, you don't even care about that daylight.

    Work your socks off to save £20k then go take it out to drop it a few times here and there 🤔Personally i think it’s all about part snobbery “I ride a Ducati” I guarantee a high percentage of enduro riders will never go green laning more so if you’ve just paid £20k for a new bike. By the way keep it covered up when it’s stood battered to bits just in case the Mrs wants to look at your £20k purchase 😮

  • @MajinMunga

    I hate it when people try to explain me why the price tag is so high. You can, and you will get a better bike for 20k £ wich is built for purpose and will blow this overpriced toy away :)

  • @dazzer4220
    @dazzer4220 6 месяцев назад

    I really struggle to see who is going to buy a bike like this for off roading... its to heavy and to expensive at £19k. Far better off getting a crf300 as its a third of the price, much lighter and will go anyway this mamouth would. For the road its not as good as its competition especially with the seat height.... and been realistic most of these expensive "adventure" bikes while marketed for there off road prowess will likely only ever see tarmac. I think a road only comparison with the 1300gs, triumph tiger and v4s will show this bikes weaknesses i am afraid. Just my humble opinion 😊
