The great thing about Palance was he was never acting-He was always himself! Even when he came on TV shows he was himself- NO BS. A great and underrated actor. I would love to see his "outtakes" on his screw ups because his response would have been priceless. You could see it now "EFF ME"!
"That's the toughest man I ever saw"... Well, when you survive a burning B-17 in WWII... it tends to toughen you up a little... (yeah, Jack Palance was in the war...)
It's so weird watching old movies that are now in HD! When we watched them it wasn't widescreen and it was on an old square TV. You would never see I tr so clear unless you went to the theater. It's pretty awesome. Not to mention that I'm holding a color TV in my hands! 🤯

"This isn't exactly 90s behavior, I've gotta be honest with you." Of course, that's not good behavior at any time, but that's just my opinion ... and apparently it's Curly's, too.
Billy Crystal said that the first western movie he saw in a theater was Shane ( with Jack Palance) and wrote the Curly part esp for on Jack . He was elated when Jack accepted the part. Jack made even the bad movies better/funny/ memorable. Bruno Kirby didn’t come back for the sequel because he was highly allergic to horses and didn’t want to take the daily shots. This unfortunately lead to bad falling out that only ended near his death from cancer when Billy & him made peace
"Hi, boys. How are you? I was just ropin' over there. Thought I'd mosey on over. You know, I've never moseyed before. Hope I did it correctly. I've walked, I've ambled. I even sashayed once. But that was in front of the draft board. Hello! Rough corral..."
My grandmother told me he was her favorite actor 50 years ago, i know what she meant, The American Crocodile Dundee of the 60's what a talented actor he was.
There's a little joke in this scene. Jack Palance was the same tough mean character in Shane. They put a little ranch around him that looks like Joe Starr's ranch.
I forgot how much I loved everything about this movie.
If you're willing to bbq the whole high command, I suppose that's worth certain considerations
Funniest scene ever, Jack Palance was priceless
Best thing about Palance in this is how they get him to poke fun at his tough guy cowboy image.
The great thing about Palance was he was never acting-He was always himself! Even when he came on TV shows he was himself- NO BS. A great and underrated actor. I would love to see his "outtakes" on his screw ups because his response would have been priceless. You could see it now "EFF ME"!
Can we talk about how awesome Ed was, he was ready to rumble without fear....unless he saw Curly coming.
Ed was the hero without fear. RIP
Hell yeah. Exactly.
Hell yea
"Any time, Zeke."
ed had a chip on his shoulder. i was kinda like him in my younger days til i matured
"Hi, Curl. Kill anyone today?"
"Day ain't over yet!"
My favorite line!!!
"That's the toughest man I ever saw"...
Well, when you survive a burning B-17 in WWII... it tends to toughen you up a little...
(yeah, Jack Palance was in the war...)
he started his career a a heavy weight boxer before... damn what a life.
Kind of makes you wonder why they would choose him for this part, LOL.
A moment of silence for the gentleman who thought he was the only one who knew Jack Palance was in the war..
Jack’s a classic “Man’s Man” actor, same as Clint Eastwood and Gene Hackman
I understand it was a B-24 training accident.
"You guys were drinking........don't let it happen again". You know, Curly could really help solve the teen binge-drinking epidemic
good idea
It'd sober you up real quick being on the receiving end that's for sure...
Nah today he would say
"You guys were texting...... Don't let it happen again!"
Tyler Tilwick Ha Ha...
. . . ok
“He’s like a Saddle Bag with eyes!”
I've always loved that line, haha.
I'm married
Growing up in the back blocks of New Zealand I actually knew men just like Curly, not many of them left now, if any.
@MichaelKingsfordGray You just had to turn this into something political.
@MichaelKingsfordGray Is that you T.R.?
Who is tr and Jeff
Like Curly said, "We're a dying breed."
They're still left in U.S. in certain areas. Modernization killed the men who lived off the land.
The part when Curly pass the knife cross Billy Crystal face,... that cracks me up every time! lol :-)
I grew up with this. Great movie. Before movies became all remakes and crud.
As a man approaching 40... I GET this movie on a whole different level!
Amen
"Did you see that guy? That is the toughest man I've ever seen in my life!"
2:46 "I'm married"
Me: "Did you see that guy?...
Damn. She's not playing Supergirl here. The real cowboy proves he's a gentleman.
Best line ever. “I’m married.” -runs away...
2 of Billy Crystal's lines that really stole this scene "Yea see that it doesn't" and "I'm married" lol that was the best

"He hung the help."
"He was HELPING us."
I still wonder who even thought up this scene.. 🤔 no better way to introduce a character, pure genius.
Jack never needed to raise his voice.
You want to know the secret of life, don't piss Curly off.
“Tough corral” I love that line.
RIP Bruno Kirby, Ed was a fearless badass in this scene.
He had to remind himself he was married LMAO
Image if other men did too. Less children would live in poverty.

@@csh000 why poverty?
@@Michael_Beanflip are you asking if there is a correlation among childhood poverty and divorce?

0:49, that's how you have your boys back! I love it!
Wow. Helen slatater looking so pretty.
That’s why she was supergirl
0:52 young Clemenza is talking Lol
For a comedy film it sure has nice cinematography
From the director of Tremors.

The clinking when Jack moves is also the same sound effect in Shane. Listen for yourself!

I cry every time. Norman is just the cutest🤠🐮❤
I have always loved the fullness of this scene. Especially the last line. In 2.5 words he says at least five really nice things.
Gotta love curly in this scene
I still say "hellooooo" like Mitch
The great Jack Palance, "believe it, or not"
He's like a saddlebag with eyes! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
What was unsaid: "These people are paying your bills for the next month and you want to eff it up?!"
I’ve always wanted to see Jack Palance and Clint Eastwood have a showdown
Did they never do a movie together? Both did their share of spaghetti westerns.
The Beautiful Helen Slater. Enough Said For Me!!
My grandmother told me he was her favorite actor 50 years ago, i know what she meant, The American Crocodile Dundee of the 60's what a talented actor he was.
Curly the hero
Are we simply going to gloss over the fact that both Boss Grissom and Bob the Goon from Batman(1989) are in this movie?
Well, Jeff was being real gangsta there till he went an’ interrupted Curly’s smoke break …
This man owes you an apology.
I’m sorry, I didn’t mean anything by it... 😂
" Like a saddlebag with eyes," ROTFL. I remember Palance doing 1 arm pushups at the Oscar's in his 70s. Real deal
Jack Palance was Chuck Norris's daddy.
They helped save Supergirl 💚💜💛 Helen Slater.
“HellooOOOoooo”
This shoe kept rolling, loved Billy c
Just love Jack Palance
"They said he slit him from neck to NUTS!."
Death didn't come for Jack Palance. Jack Palance came for it.
Jack Palance was the icing on this cake.
Clint and Jack Palance, my fav cowboys
I loved this movie so much as a kid.
"Ahhhhhhh!!!!! Its Curly come back from dead!!!" Lol
"He eats bacon at every meal."
You can't do that!
"Don't let it happen again!" Got it, punk?!😁 "Believe it, .....or not!"😄😁
I wish I could throw a knife like that
York Classic Vinyl
Me too
Hell, it'd be cool enough just to have one to push the brim of your hat up like he did!
Practice
If you started practicing at the time of your post, you could do it by now.
WOW-Curly’s one tough hombre, but a gentleman.
Curly should be the poster child of what it means to be tough.
I always use to think curly was Clint Eastwood SMH I feel stupid now that I'm older 😳😒😂
Rough corral 😆😂
Curly vs Mick in a knife throwing contest...
For us 90's kids, this was our first man crush.
Whatever happened to Helen Slater?
90s, attractive, suddenly disappeared for 20 years...I'm guessing she got Weinsteined.
She was Laura-El in "Smallville", and Kara's adoptive mom in "Supergirl." Though, I'm sure she's done other projects.
There's only three men I'm afraid of: Mike Tyson, Mr. T, and Curly!!!!
Rest dance Peace Liliane de Toulon. Born 12-21-1939 departed 9-11-2021
Voice from the mountains: "Hello Curly, here we are again."
Curly: "...oh no..."
"he was hanging the help"
He was a real man!!!
Jack sounds a bit like he did narrating Ripley's Believe It or Not!😁😀
01:36 will shut any man up or at least think twice before they assault a woman.
And just think: this is but a fraction of how tough Palance was in real life.
🎉one of the best!
There's a little joke in this scene. Jack Palance was the same tough mean character in Shane. They put a little ranch around him that looks like Joe Starr's ranch.
Did Bill Hader imitate Curly’s voice for that Platoon muppet? 😆
Anyone know the soundtrack title for this scene? I really like the guitar picking in the scene when Curly showed up.
Same theme when big al takes of his hat when hes alone with miklo
Curly = BAMF
Little did TR know Curly has been riding up, and he is not having it
This movie belongs to billy cristal, no doubt- but man that's a hell of an entrance by jack!
"I crap bigger than you." ~Curly
Did you see Palance's Oscar acceptance speech in 1992? "Billy Crystal. I crap bigger n' him." I swear he was plowed!
@@tomtrinchera8405 He did one-handed push-ups on stage as well :D
Last Curveball
“Hello?”
I'm married but I wish I wasn't right now!😂
Jack Palance was the most handsome cowboy I had ever seen in the movie Shane.
Let’s all pause in appreciation of Helen Slater gentlemen. And ladies
I was always use to seeing Jack Palance playing a bad guy.
Half relatives I grew up with on my dads side were just like that only funnier. They defined the quintessential Texan.
Everyone should watch Requiem for a Heavyweight...the best.
Oh yes Jack gives a heart tugging performance in Requiem. He got a well- deserved Emmy. 1956, I believe.
I'm not curly I'm his brother Duke
I still can’t believe this movie had any kind of Oscar consideration (I know it was Jack Palance, but still)
Why not?
I would've gotten divorced! haha
Sneed
The One thing. and know what my one thing in Life is: Horses
Amen :)
To the character's credit, he's not a tough guy, and he still tried.
I'm married but if I wasn't, we would bone!😂
