Hi everyone! Ever since I heard this song a few weeks ago, I have been so obsessed!😁Ed Sheeran really brought all the feels with this one! I also really love the underlick (or melodic line) which is heard throughout the whole song. It's so catchy! So, let me know what you thought of todays lesson? Did you like the song choice? Would love to hear your thoughts in the comments below! ⬇
Absolutely love the rendition of it makes it easy to play keep up the good work, Dermot Kennedy can be tricky could you simplify maybe a song or 2 of his when you get time, love from Ireland
I came back to this video after a year and played while singing effortlessly. Its amazing and so rewarding with all the practice ive put in :) now i am going to tackle the fingerpicking😊
I am really happy you included the anchor finger. I started learning guitar in Highschool and gave up. Deciding to try again, I watched a tutorial for a different song and the guy brought up the anchor fingers and it completely changed the game for me. I am able to play now. Just wanted to say thanks for making anchor points known for beginners.
Anchor fingers make such a big difference once you are aware of them and how they work. They connect chords together and make changing between them much easier and faster. I’m so happy to hear that it’s helped you and I encourage you to keep playing and working on those chord changes 🙌
Haha, and here I was hoping the subs would be coming from people wanting to learn to play the guitar 🤔 🤣 but thank you, that is nice of you to say. Happy strumming! 🎶
Merci beaucoup Amber , you are so pretty woman and very gifted for guitare... Thanks to you i learned to play this wonderful song... Your are a wonderwoman the charm more... Vous êtes fantastique !!!!!!!!!!
Thank you so much! I’m so happy you enjoyed the lesson and my teaching style! In fact, I have just opened the doors to my amazing guitar program- doors close on Friday so check it out here if you want to join me inside the course! thestellarguitarist.com/thestellaracademy
❤your lesson on this!!! Including the fingerpicking was like icing on the cake! Lol Thank you for this! Love a lot of Ed Sheeran songs! Always look forward to your lessons!
Hey Andrew, thanks so much for your message. You are most welcome! 🎶✨ I loved teaching this lesson (picking and strumming songs are always a fun one! 😁)
Hey David 👋🏻 yes I thought I’d jump on RUclips and teach this one while it’s still quite new ✨ I know there are a LOT of Sheeran fans out there 😁 I am glad you enjoyed the lesson, thank you 🙏
@The Stellar Guitarist You're Welcome. I'm an Ed Sheeran fan. Just stay away from "Thinking Out Loud" you wouldn't want any copyright infringement lawsuits. 🤣
Thanks for this very easy version, I’ll give it a try with my daughter singing. For the moment i am switching between fingerpicking to chords instead of palm muting and normal chords (needs a very fast capo moving 2nd / 3 fret 😂). The trick is i don’t really understand how you palm mute the chords. If i understand well you only play the first chords in that position this is right? You say you palm mute only when aiming down which is cool because i find it hard to keep the position when aiming up (maybe the position i hold my pick is not right) but in that way the up movement sounds so bright and loud it is very strange… i certainly do something wrong 😢. I’ll try harder. Thanks anyway for your effort to make guitar so enjoyable!
Hi Laurent! Thank you so much for your comment, it makes me so happy to hear that you are sharing your music with your daughter! You know, there is no right or wrong way to play a song. Mixing it up with some fingerpicking and chords is amazing - you got this! Palm muting is easier to do with just down strums. Getting a good palm muting technique on up strums does take some more practice. Sometimes the muted up strum will ring out a bit clearer, which is ok, as long as the majority of the chord is muted. If this is a technique that you need to work on separately, then do so. Another tip when palm muting, is to only strum two or three strings for the up and down strums. The less strings you strum, the less loud and bright the chord will sound! Good luck and happy strumming! 😁
Do you add filler strums in between or chord fillers? Cause my strumming sounds very different than yours Also what strings do you strum for all chords Also if possible can you make a video on how to sing and play as I have a hard time doing both
Hi! 😊 to answer your questions, yes I do add filler strums (like an up strum before changing to the next chord) BUT they fit in around the core strumming pattern which I maintain throughout the song. The strings I strum from: C major: 5th string C/B: 5th string Am: 5th string Fmaj7: 4th string Singing and strumming is tough and a skill that takes time to refine! I have an awesome guitar course where I speak more about how to sing and strum at the same time. The doors for my course open next week! If you want to sign up, I can then notify you about the course and you can check it out 😊 thestellarguitarist.com/thestellaracademy
Hi Maris, technically yes. But it will not necessarily be in the same key unless you use a capo. On Sunday I am teaching a lesson on how to play Boat with very simple chords! So tune in!
💍L💍R ,? Hello, Amber Mister Ed Sheeran with this melodic line would have made you lose a ring, I hope it's just an oversight, I noticed it but maybe not you, incredible this title has just been released Congratulations one more choice of qualities, and full of sound advice as well as the technique Thank you. Happy Sunday
