Raidou 2 is one of the few times in a Megaten games where I actually tried to stick with as many "Canon Team" demons used by its respective MC as possible. It all started with just keeping the Moh Shuvuu that you get if you do a save file carry over from Raidou 1 as a bit of a joke... I ended up bringing her and plenty of other Raidou's demon team to as many boss fights as possible!
@@Lemonberrys I still went ahead with using Moh in battles, as I like to imagine dialogue between bosses wandering why is Raidou still sticking with such a early-game demon. And being surprised at how she actually manages to pull her own weight. For example... VS Black Mask Fukoshi Black Mask Fukoshi: "This kid is still using one of those weak-ass bird girls... What a pushover!" Moh: "You mess with Jouhei... And you mess with ME! Failure of an assassin!" (For context, I have the headcanon that Moh calls Raidou exclusively by his real name. Jouhei.)

Raidou series can actually become Atlus’ Yakuza if they wanted to. Seriously, such a missed potential. Not to mention the classic Japan setting is pretty interesting as well. Man, first time playing Raidou 2 I was so awestruck whenever running through the city with bustling with so many people. Imagine that with the recent technology
for me, Jack Bros is extremely underrated. People often says memes about this game and i think they really need to play for themselves, it's a very fun game with challenging gameplay

Honestly it's great to see p4d especially get some attention. It feels like it's always been forgotten about due to how little 3 & 5d did to keep up with it.
Majin Tensei especially Majin Tensei II are sooooo underrated some of the best snes era SRPG/TRPG's I've ever played in some ways better then Devil survivor and in some ways worse. Regardless absolutely amazing games that need to be played with the speed up button if you are impatient for games like Fire Emblem. Perma Death is real in this game.
Majin Tensei games (aside of Ronde) suffers from consoles limit, due to insanely long enemy turns (this was downside in every SRPG game on NES/SNES). But in modern platform Majin Tensei should shine bright, like Devil Survivor.
I have a soft spot for the first Majin Tensei but I wouldn't call it underrated. Levels are too big and take too much time to complete (taken to an extreme when the terrain makes you move slower), the inventory is too small and you can brute force most of the game.
It's been a while, but I remember liking Raidou vs King Abaddon more than the first, but there was a late game dungeon that just seemed to drag. Now that I think of it, that is kind of a SMT series staple. That one dungeon that makes you cringe on every replay, knowing it's coming up......
I must concur with P4D and that its sequels by contrast were disappointing cash grabs. (which is a shame as Moonlight implies a heartwarming plot where Elisabeth finally frees Makoto from being a door)
Hey Tony, why the hate for Maken Shao Demon Sword? I've had it sitting on my shelf since about a month after it was released those 2 decades ago. I personally put it up there with the more obscure "hack n' slashes" of the PS2 era, along with Chaos Legion and The Bouncer. And the more known ones such as Godhand, DMC, Onimusha etc. I think it's fiercely underrated and I praise anyone who has even heard of it, let alone played it! Much love, Guy who begged for the Cu Chulainn video for 5 months.

I prefered persona 3 dancing, but only becasue i know the story of persona 3 quite well. Since it takes place right near the end of persona 3 it has a bigger impact and Elizabeth being Elizabeth is always fun. Especially teasing when she admits to watching everyone to recreate their rooms and says there sound proof saying they can bang all they want. Yukari gets flustered and Elizabeth pretends to be confused saying doesn't banging mean dancing? you can dance in your rooms and you won't be heard. Elizabeth trolling is always fun.
That's how I feel about DDS lmao. Sure, everyone knows about Raidou, but barely anyone has played Devil Summoner 3 and even less have played Devil Summoner 4
Maken X soundtrack and gameplay is god tier. It is so sad this game was only released on Sega Dreamcast, and remake Maken Shao on PS2 sucks ... And Maken X predicted a future - game was developed by Atlus, but published by ... Sega :)
One I can recommend is Kyuuyaku megami tensei 2, unlike smt 1 and 2, it isn't that long and the backtracking isn't the worst. Combat is a bit downgraded from those two, but the atmosphere, the music and graphics are definietly worth checking out. Also it has the first Y.H.V.H fight which is pretty cool.
The only thing thats criminally underrated is your youtube channel Tony. But dont worry keep up the grind and im sure in two years we can put two more zero's behind the subcount😉🤗
It's honestly kind of sad that, at least in p5d, you have to grind free play mode to unlock little drops of the story instead of there just being a more proper feeling progression

You can. Unlike Digital Devil Saga 2 which was basicly the second half of the game chopped off and sold to you seperatly, Raidou 2 is a stand alone experiance. The returning characters have very little background (even Raidou himself is kinda flat) and their relationships aren't very nuanced. While Raidou 1 is a good game, Raidou 2 is the more refined experiance.
Better play Raidou 1 first, then Raidou 2 from simple reason - Raidou 2 have MUCH BETTER COMBAT than Raidou 1, it would be hard to go back from Raidou 2 to Raidou 1.
Digital devil saga was a good contender for this list, I'd argue less people know who "serph" or "sera" is when compared to "raidou" But maken X is 100% probably the least known game in the series, arguably not even part of smt, raidou 2 is also not known well...
I have to say that for P4D I was very much surprised it was in the list lol personally I get from a prior video I watched why the story would be considered good but honestly I've never been a huge fan just because of the ridiculousness of them learning to dance like professionals in a week and being a rehash of P4. Last time I replayed it when it released on PS4 I skipped the entire story since I already did it on the Vita. I will say that the music is amazing and some of my favorite remixes are from the game (Backside of the TV from Lotus Juice anyone?). I will def agree that the P3 and P5 ones though were pretty mediocre and were disappointing. On another note though I do love the Raidou games on PS2; should give them a replay!

Maken Shao is a remake of Maken X, with 3rd person camera (instead of first person camera in Maken X) which in my opinion ruins awesome gameplay from Dreamcast version, worse controlls, worse graphic, worse looking cutscenes, glitches. It is just like 90% PS2 games ported from Dreamcast.
Raidou 2 is a really great game , it's not too complicated & has a great story ! I also love how it can be a serious main story but the side quest sometime just straight up funny as heck.. funny how I love Raidou 2 soo much yet hate the first game P4D, suprisingly for a dancing game it has a really great story ! Even if it's just like a side game and I like how they stull manage to keep this side game has a mystery genre (?) too bad The P3&P5 dancing game luke for the sake of milking / for fans want a dancing game without a deep story like P4
First game wasn’t even an smt game or was a hack and slash no having 3 alignments does not make an smt game it doesn’t have the action of radiou at all nor any rpg elements in the slightest and nor does it have any story similar to smt. Heck it barely if at all uses the same monsters. game 2 is an actual smt game Game 3 is a spin off dancing game
In the first game the few games that have that combat do not seem to work with any controllers that they have existed in. Maybe in something like a VR game it would work, but ... Have not played it though. I did like the Raidou games for the story, but I am not a fan of the combat, it seemed slow when it came out and by today's standards it is a joke. Just going to say I generally am not a Persona fan and dancing even less. Basically like the darker sides of SMT. I think the whole Persona series is over rated.

Shao is third persona and controls very differently (and plays worse), while Maken is first person, controls buttery smooth and runs like a dream

I own raidou 2 but I haven't played 1 yet this video pumped me up so much imma just say fuck it and play 2
In the first game the few games that have that combat do not seem to work with any controllers that they have existed in. Maybe in something like a VR game it would work, but ... Have not played it though.
I did like the Raidou games for the story, but I am not a fan of the combat, it seemed slow when it came out and by today's standards it is a joke.
Just going to say I generally am not a Persona fan and dancing even less. Basically like the darker sides of SMT. I think the whole Persona series is over rated.

Well, the Persona 2 duology is based, but that's common knowledge in the megaten community, maybe not in the Persona fanbase specifically though
