Always nice to see someone from a country as beautiful as Norway appreciating my country of Scotland. Glad you enjoyed it Erik. And we've all made an ass of it in the locks at some point - part of the fun!
dear old mate,i grew up in poole harbor dorset ,learnt to sale in a mirror racing dingy,. now at 77 after sailing in australia .living as a land lubber in encounter bay, victor harbor. south australia, am so enjoying vicariously sailing with you, would so like to sail with you, BUT due to my foolishnes have STUFFED my back up. i did have 75 good years, now i just grow a few vegi and paint sea scapes to gloryify the CREATOR GOD.may HE keep you safe for your lovely lady.thank you for noBSonlyS.
I feel so fortunate to be living during the same time as Eric to see so many beautiful places I would not likely see thanks to his adventurous spirit 🥂❤
1.7K+ subscriber LIKE, 10,827th tag-along view... let's go sailing with Erik. As a player of Irish Trad (pub tunes) music, I really appreciate the choice of instrumental music in this episode.
The Great Glen is spectacularly beautiful. I know many sailors enjoy cycling too so if you can't see it by boat I thoroughly recommend cycling it. A group of us did it a few years ago. We hired electric bikes and spent 5 days cycling from Fort William to Inverness. There is plenty of accommodation along the way and portage companies to move your luggage between stops. We also found the locals to be very considerate towards cyclists. One of the best holidays I've had away from sailing. Thank you for sharing Erik.
As I sit here and watch the world collapse your experiences provide solace and remind me that someday I may just have to walk out to my back yard get on my sailboat and go. Inverness is the birthplace of my ancestors .As always, thanks Eric
Wow man love your cinematography your trips and Adventures been following you for a year or two at least what I like most about you is your attitude and calm demeanor Elio's will carry you far
Your offshore crossings can be impressive in terms of the savagery of the sea, but the landscapes along the lochs and the Caledonian Canal are stunning. Great videography !
I feel like all the disease and sickness within my body gets sucked out by the intense beauty of the ocean and geography I am witnessing over your shoulder. To know that you're in tune with moon and its gravitational pull on the water is breathtaking, something a windsail sailor would know. Thank you for sharing
This has been on my bucket list for a long time, my grandfather used to love sailing around the west coast of Scotland and I long to follow in his footsteps. Another great video Erik, keep them coming!
Great episode and (as always) you can even see on a video just how much care you take on preventative maintenance. All your lines, sheets, halyards and everything else that is apparent on film looks new, polished, seaworthy and in good order. Nice work 👍
So beautiful! Would love to sail through there someday. I have been all over Scotland by car but never by boat. I’m an American with a Scottish Mum. It would be incredible to see Scotland from this perspective. Thanks for sharing!
This time very educational... no idea Loch Ness was one Loch of many on the Caledonian Canal... Good work attempting to find Nessie on Tessie... Laff... Fair Winds...
Hi Erik. This was very special for me as you were in my homeland, 🏴 hence my surname. Also I’ve never been the the canals from one side to the other. Loved every second. Looking forward to the next passage 👌🏻
I say...THANK YOU! I'm a sailor in Boston, born of Scottish blood...loved my visits to eastern and northern Scotland...You're living my dream here sir!!! So VERY thankful for this wondrous video...thank you brother!!!! Thank you so very much!
Watching this in bed in my family’s holiday home just south of Oban on New Year’s Day evening. I can sense in you the same joy that I experience when in my happy place. I was in Corpach in October on my motorcycle heading up to Arisaig and on to Malaig. We even watched a whale feeding on a mackerel shoal. Purest magic.
BRILLIANT Erik and thank you for all of your videography efforts! You too are a ONE man operation doing everything and to such high standards, RESPECT!
Love watching your journeys around the North Atlantic. As always, production quality is tip top, and your mellifluous narration voice. We'd love to see you down in Southern climes, like here in Australia.
the next time you plan to haul out for bottom paint, explore your Hydrophobic options. there are new Hydrophobic coatings on the market; which could have you sailing, when you would otherwise be motoring. ( and save you fuel, when you have to motor ) also good to fatigue yourself well enough, with surface preparation, that you opt to have it sprayed on, ( for a smoother finish )
More spectacular drone footage - so appreciate getting to see all of this area's beauty. Thanks for capturing and sharing the adventure and this majestic scenery.
Erik this video warmed my heart. I have family living in Inverness and have been to many of the places you visited on your journey. The video was very well done and brought back some happy memories! Scotland is indeed a beautiful and sometimes mysterious place - you captured it beautifully.
Every season you post, you always make me want to buy a boat and start exploring. You do an amazing job portraying the story, events, and nature; the cinematography is beyond the next level.
Hi Eric, I loved following your trip through the Calendonian Canal in my home country of Scotland. I did that trip in 2021 on hired boat with my family and it gave me the the sailing bug. So much so that I bought my first sailing yatch a year later. The greatest memory I have of that trip is as we were going through the Laggan Avenue my 20 year old son said. "I live in such a wonderfully f****** country". I though , job done. I'm also please to see that I was not the only one that went 90 degrees across the lock at Fort Augustus, makes me feel better that such an experienced sail such as your self can make mistakes too. Please keep making these videos as I for one will keep watching. Happy New Year, Lang may yer lum reek.
Dear Erik, I have seen all your videos. This is by far the best. Great photography and superb editing. You have made me decide to sail to Scotland. Sooner or later.
@@rodcurrieclassics8102 got in my diary for the summer 2025. After myvfirstctastevof North sea last summer I had sworn I will never leave the Med, but....
I've loved watching these vids of Scotland... I'm lucky enough to live on the Isle of Skye, and despite having a playground/back garden of amazing coastline and small islands, it has long been my dream to do the Caledonian Canal.... Your fantastic footage make me want to do it even more... Thanks for reigniting that spark to undertake this journey in my own wee boat... 🙏
So, you were looking for Nessie on Tessie! You wouldn’t be the first to not find her! An excellent video and such beautiful country. The drone footage really added a lot to the views and the houses there were so quaint and beautiful! Now you have a lot of experience with transiting locks and lochs! Loch Ness looks a lot like our Gastineau Channel, which is an 8 mile fjord that’s about a kilometer wide with 1000 meter tree covered mountains on both sides! I have to travel thru it to get my boat out to go to other places. Am planning a trip this spring to a place called Jaw Point which is a sheer cliff that’s nearly 1000 meters tall, where the mountain broke off and you can get within 20 meters of it and still be in 600’ of water. There are seagull nests in the cliffs and I’ll take my drone to get some good video of it. This is a trip I did 3 years ago to the 20 mile long Tracy Arm fjord, with a glacier at the end. I got some excellent footage of humpback whales right beside my boat. It’s about 60 miles from where I live. ruclips.net/video/Luus6pXphl8/видео.html
Thank you for this most scenic adventure. This is the first time I had seen this lock system in Scotland and I must say it was amazing. Happy Holidays, Erik.
Nice One Erik, another fantastic episode from my home country of Scotland, really enjoyed the music you picked as well. Pity you did'nt spot Nessie but never mind at least you tried and I hope you had a wee whisky on route Slainte Var

Did this on a family holiday when i was 12…. one of the best holidays i’ve ever had (60 now, & solo travelled the world).
We've delivered lots of yachts through the Caledonian Canal. Always a treat!

Very good job. Have a great night and get some rest.

Fantastic episode. The canals and locks are awesome. Beautiful countryside and towns. Would love to go there someday. Thanks for the video
Go Bill. It is amazing. We were at the lock staircase at 10 PM and the sun had not set yet. Amazing place.
Brings back lots of fond memories of my youth touring through the Western Scottish highlands. 🏴
