    I never understood the hate that 4c hair gets. I have 4c hair and I feel so classy and elegant when I style my 4c hair.

      How did you learnt o style your hair. I'm in my 20s and never learned to style it because it was always just braided for me growing up. Also if you have any youtube recs or product recs, I'll appreciate that

    I'm 42 years young and my mom who is an LS monoracial UABW and always wore her 4C afro out. I've never seen her with straight hair except her in pictures as a child. She's now 73 years young and still rocks her fro. She's always embraced her hair and that has allowed me to also embrace my 4C hair as well. I rock mine in a low fade though b/c I love wearing short hair. 😊

      Omfg yes ! I had SO many people police my body! Friends and family, white female teachers and pastors, everyone ! I remember when I got called to the principals office for wearing a cheerleading uniform (I was a cheerleader and we ALL wore uniforms on game days) . But of course, my “skirt was too short”. Meanwhile I come from VERY strict parents who would NEVER let me leave the house in a short skirt. My skirts had to pass my fingertips . I also got singled out for “moving my hips too much” during the cheer dances. TF? It’s a fuggin ROUTINE! You’re supposed to do the moves ! So because I’m not a stiff back I’m “moving my hips too much”?! It was a whole thing. I might make a video about it one day.

    The part about mothers is so true. I recently (about 4 months ago) started wearing my type 4 hair out after wearing braids back to back and my mother showered me in compliments. A day didn’t go by without me feeling empowered. There’s a girl at my school in the year below me who told me that after seeing me in my natural hair, she really wanted to wear hers, but her mother told her no. She later took her braids out and tried to wear her natural hair, but her mom forced her to straighten it. I was so shocked because my mom knows the lady, and I told her about it, and she said it’s a product of her mother’s environment and her unwillingness to grow for her daughter’s sake.

    This summer for the first time decentered I've been wearing heels everyday and not only is it helping with my posture from a back injury, it's the better option over sandals for me for the hot summer months. Family members, gym associates, coworkers and everyone is pleasantly shocked by my heels. When I was dating (with no strategy) a few years ago, I bought heels again to go out. No that I've decentered men, I dress that "date look", my comfortable best looking self, EVERY DAY and I'm better off for it!!!

    • @ExoticalsUnited
      @ExoticalsUnited  Месяц назад +1

      omg yes you sound like me! also, decentering men helped me to become more open minded about beauty enhancements (i used to only wear my natural beauty with limited makeup and my real hair because i believed thats what a man liked most) but since decentering them i wear whatever TF i want and look as "fake" as i want to and i actuallly feel more confident, feminine and self expressive that way.

    14:51-15:40 YEP! I started wearing a bra at 6 going on 7 yrs old and I started my period at 9 yrs old. I was told i had to be invisible too b/c of how "grown" I looked (the women in my family wanted me to be invisible and alwaysboughtup my body. That definitely sets the tone for how a woman perceives herself in the first half of her adulthood. No, I couldn't and didn’t enjoy my beauty until I moved away

    My body was a problem when I was younger. They said I looked grown. I was hurt when I was little, so I had some issues with being seen for a long time.
    It's definitely the reason I was trying to be agreeable. I just didn't want problems. I let that trauma live free in my head for a long time.
    Glad thats over.

    7:20 yes ! I’m always getting compliments on my hair whenever I wear it out. Whether it’s in two puffs, an Afro, mini twists, twists/braids outs, and etc. I live in an area where most black people wear braids. Nothing wrong with that, but wearing my own hair in different styles really makes me stand out. 💗

    Very true. Also, I'm learning that certain parts of the country are favorable to certain aesthetics. For instance, here in Indiana I get more favoritism from young white women, black men and hindu men and women. But, apparently in Florida I would flourish and blend right in with the latinos down there. California, I'd probably fit in if I kept my hair straightened and lost about 50lbs, lol. So, location plays a role too from what I can see.

    18:05 that happens to me all the time. You hit the nail on the head right there. People go above and beyond to ask every inch about my body. They ask what i eat to have slim body and when i answer them cheeseburger and fries they think im trolling when its the truth and some of them literally touch my hair without permission just so they can assure themselves its real. They even ask me if my dimples is real or not 🤦🏻‍♀️ i feel like science subject not a human being. Its exhausting 😮‍💨

    • @rachellebrown333

      @kurosawagin OMG THIIIIS......it's like animal channel where a guy talks about the cubs in the wild - if attractive from young, you get over the phrase= YOUR TOO PARANOID as in reality when you walk in the room people are normally staring & whispering about you
      Some of us have metabolism privilege😂😂 I was constantly reminded about how slim I was from childhood to now - I don't have any obese relatives incl my grandparents
      I think it would be interesting to explore genetic privileges @ExoticalsUnited ....for example I'm bronze all year round and white women often point out my skin in summer or they compare their tan to me / non blk women that focus on male gaze of only blk men are often frosty to me during this time of year - if I walk past or we're all in a group discussion, I always catch them girls looking back & forth at my skin compared to their paler skin sometimes they start sulking or give me a dirty look too
