  • Modern car headlights are made from durable plastic. It's easy to shape, it's shatter resistant, but it's easily damaged by harsh UV sunlight. These solar rays turn the plastic hazy and yellow, and render the headlights useless.
    Check out Headlight Restorer and Protectant: www.chemicalguy...
    Yellowing car headlights is caused by improper care and lack of protection. Harsh UV sunlight oxidizes, fades, and cracks sensitive headlight plastic. Over time, this plastic failure clouds up and turns headlight lenses hazy and opaque. This reduces visibility and safety when driving at night.
    Using the all new Headlight Restorer Polish by hand, Nick revives the clarity of the headlights on this Honda Civic without the need of wet sanding or a machine polisher. Working back and forth as well as up and down to refine the plastic for a factory finish.
    Restoring headlights is easy with Chemical Guys Headlight Restorer Polish!

    Wow took a really worn out headlight and almost made it brand new. You wouldn't believe that almost 90 percent of people don't realize all it takes is a little wax on your head lights and that won't happen or it shouldn't happen anyways. And most people don't take care of there cars anyways. Not like me or chemguys. Good job detail garage

      actually, I used sandpaper and rubbing clear coat on mine, then I waited a couple of hours and waxed it, came out looking pretty decent.
      there are many ways to help with restoring your headlights but as you said, prevention is key, but protection is best, putting a layer of UV resistant material in it such as clear coat paint for plastic (needs to be for plastic) or the chemical guys stuff that wears off faster than clear coat and is more expensive to reapply.
      it's up to the person that owns the car, but I would prefer to have a nice clean car that if I get pulled over by the cops, they have nothing to do me on

      Hi Jason,
      JetSeal is definitely safe to be used over any glossy and shiny paintwork, polished metals, and clear glass and optical plastic surfaces on the exterior of any vehicle. It'll preserve and protect the beautiful finish and clarity of paintwork, glass, headlights, tail lights, chrome, aluminum, carbon fiber, and glossy decals. Happy Detailing!

    what do you put on after to prevent it from happening again? or is it an on going thing until you reach the bulb? ;)

    • @ChemicalGuys
      @ChemicalGuys  7 лет назад +1

      Hi Wendy, this happens because the rays from the sun deteriorate the plastic, causing them to yellow. Using sealant, and wax creates a protective barrier that prevents the plastic from oxidizing.

    • @mikeshaw6818
      @mikeshaw6818 5 лет назад

      this process not only removes the clouded plastic, it also removes the protective clear coat. after restoring your headlights, you'll want to put a clear coat back on it and then use wax or paint sealant once every month or 2 to prevent it from happening again.

    What do you do if the headlights are oxidizing from the inside? I have seen that alot on camry's.

    • @ChemicalGuys
      @ChemicalGuys  7 лет назад +1

      Thanks for checking out our videos, when the headlights oxidize from the inside, its due to ultraviolet rays from the sun reflecting off of the headlight lamps internally. At this point the headlight plastic is completely damaged and will need to be replaced. Stay tuned for more great content.

    • @ChemicalGuys
      @ChemicalGuys  7 лет назад

      Great question! We definitely recommend you take an Eco-Smart for a quick wash wherever you are, quick detailer that is also a spray sealant like the Hybrid V7, a window and glass cleaner like our Signature Series Class Cleaner to keep your windows spotless, and to finish, something for your tires like the Hybrid V7 Wet TIre Shine and Trim Dressing and Protectant for restoration and protection. You can also take some interior protectants like our Fabric Guard for those crazy days ahead. Have fun and be safe!

      You risk quality. The Headlight Restorer and Protectant makes your headlights clean and clear again while also sealing and protecting against harmful UV rays that will definitely ruin plastic. Also, no sanding is required when using the Headlight Restorer. Get rid of the hazy look to make your headlight be fully useful again.

    • @ChemicalGuys
      @ChemicalGuys  7 лет назад

      Hi Lindsey, thanks for watching the video. Headlight restoration isn't part of the flow chart, it's just a way to remove the yellow film that hinders the performance of your headlights. If you wanted to squeeze this step in somewhere, I would recommend doing it after you wash your vehicle, and clayed it if necessary. You can use the one stop for lightly oxidized headlights, you would need to wet sand and polish if the headlights were very badly oxidized.

  • @Curt_Smith
    @Curt_Smith 7 лет назад

    This is slightly not related but I used vss and I've put a few swirl marks into my paint. I did use cheap microfibres to buff off. Is it possible cheap ones do scratch? If not I'm stuck for answers as I've followed all the hand polish tips. Also I've ordered some chemical guys black towels and free happy ending :)

    • @ChemicalGuys
      @ChemicalGuys  7 лет назад

      Hey Curt, Low quality microfibers just aren't plush enough, and it's possible that the edges weren't cut properly, causing them to leave scratches behind as they scraped along the paintwork. I'm glad to hear, thanks for being part of the Chemical Guys family!!

    how long does this last before i have to do it again?

    • @ChemicalGuys
      @ChemicalGuys  7 лет назад +1

      Hi Travon,
      There are a lot of variables that come in to play when noticing you need another headlight restoration. After doing the polish, if you were to apply a sealant, it'd last as long as the sealants lifespan. If you were to not apply any sort of protection, you're looking at a headlight lifespan of about a month, depending on weather conditions, if it's your daily driver, if it's stored outside, etc. Many variables account to the lifespan but we definitely recommend you apply some sort of protection after doing a headlight restoration. Enjoy your Labor Day weekend and thanks for being part of the Chemical Guys family!

    Would this product replace the need of having to Wet sand & Buff that you guys have shown in the past?
    or would using the wetsand / buff process with the v34 & v36 work better?
    Also could you use this then buff it from your previous methods shown W/ the v34,v36 and then sealing it off with the jet seal?

    • @ChemicalGuys
      @ChemicalGuys  6 лет назад +1

      Hi Joshua, the headlight restorer works on lightly oxidized headlights. If you have more severe oxidation, you would need to use the combination of wet sanding and polishing with V34 and V36. to remove the oxidation and restore clarity. You can actually use V34 and V36 after the headlight restorer to get a more exact restoration. Stay tuned Joshua, we've got more great videos on the way.
