7:44 pig feet and the egg is soak in a sweet vinegar mix for a week or so which turns them that black color. Delicious especially if you soak them with boiled peanuts 😋 my mom makes these for the winter as a dessert. Vinegar is good for immune system.

Awesome! The food in Guangzhou is absolutely excellent. Really good choice for a first stop in China. Check out the food in Shunde (8 minute fast train ride just south of Guangzhou) next time you're in China! Somehow even exceeds Guangzhou's standards.

gizzard is more muscular, liver is vascular which translates too, gizzard is a tough meat and liver is an iron tasting meat :))) hope that kinda helps, but the best way to tell them apart is to try them :)

Btw, the sugar glazed fruit skewer has some rice paper wrapped around it, and the rice paper is edible so you didn’t have to unwrap it. Next time, just eat the rice paper along with the fruit skewer.

Bring back so many good memories. The reason why the pig feet, eggs and ginger are black is because they are cooked and soaked in the sweet black vinegar for days. This is what Cantonese women eat after they give birth (supposed to be great for recovering), and Cantonese grandmas would cook this before the baby is born and distribute it to friends and family after the baby is born to notify the community and share the joy. Very important dish. :)
The trick to fried noodles is that you need to have a really hot wok. Wait until the oil emits smoke before putting foods in. A lot of converse restaurants here don't wait until it's hot before food is placed in and it ends up being unsatisfying and the flavor doesn't pop like it does when cooked properly.
