Kenneth Branagh *(VHS line only):* "This is Brachiosaurus! A thirteen meter high Sauropod that specializes in grazing on the treetops. *With chisel-like teeth,* his kind could effortlessly harvest cones and fresh leaves no other Dinosaur can reach. And they have grown enormous on it. These adults weigh over seventy tons, making them the largest land animals that have ever existed."
@@jaisanatanrashtra7035 Oh yes, in the two-part VHS that I used to have in my childhood (the sound and music were also in a slightly low tone); Episode II had more lines from Kenneth Branagh that for whatever reason were not in the DVD release.
Yeah, Brachiosaurus was known to be the largest known dinosaur for decades until the discovery of certain titanosaurs. Not sure where the 70 tonne figure comes from, perhaps it’s inferred from estimates of Giraffatitan which at the time was considered the same genus and they just applied the same for the North American species, or they jacked up the weight due to the known material being subadult and this was their representation of a fully grown one. But the former seems more likely.
@@darrenrock3387 Yeah pretty much. And this reminds me, I forgot about my comment I left here. Turns out that, unsurprisingly, the Brachiosaurus featured here is heavily based on Giraffatitan and the 70 tonne figure may come from outdated estimates published by Colbert (1962), who estimated Giraffatitan as high as 78 tonnes.
(and, by knowing that these young Diplodocuses were maybe similar size with the modern Asian elephant, the second largest land animal nowadays, you can realize, how really humungous was the Brachiosaurus)
0:30 More like 15 meters so nitpick! Also, at most these giants were about 56 tonnes and would actually have been outmatched in size by Maarapunisaurus(not named in 1999.) Still, impressive! No other dinosaur is that tall.
Information was outdated in this documentary. Now we know the largest dinosaurs to live on this planet were the South American discovered titanosaurus.
I don't think you could even make a top 10 heaviest dinosaurs without someone throwing a fit. More useful to ask who deserves to be in the conversation of largest.

My god the music for this reveal. I love it so much
Ben Bartlett's score is indispensable to the Walking With aesthetic palette. I genuinely hope they rehire him for the proposed remake.

I swear they were giving a subtle nod to Jurassic Park.

Brachiosaurus, the lumbering sauropod, what a grace of nature! It's very special.
I like Jurassic
I'm very curious about the sounds of Brachiosaurus, what animal sounds which are used in this documentary?
Humpback whale's low calls
That brachiosaurus shown introduce a creature character also the music too
To this day i wonder why this dino wasn't included in Prehistoric Planet
I think they used humpback whale's low calls for the brachiosaurus
