I bought my Race Blue RS Combi because of your review!
I've had it 6 months and its absolutely brilliant.
Keep up the fantastic videos!
+Simon Ward great colour choice! thanks and have fun with it :)
Love that you do your reviews in English too...I bought my last Skoda vRS on the strength of your review of the car at that time.....and I must say that you were spot-on with your assessment of it. Now I'm nearing retirement age, I'm looking to buy a car that will last me for many, many years, and after owning my current Octavia trouble-free for the last yr or so, I have no qualms in getting another. Thank you very much indeed....
+MogadishuMan ...and yet no mention of the feature that makes this car (and other similar VW models) so easy to drive, and the feature that (combined with the DSG box) that persuaded me to get this car....the fantastic Adaptive Cruise Control, which this review model has. I appreciate your time constraints, but (even given your fantastic grasp of the english language) I thought you could have mentioned in the review....for me, it was a deal-breaker (but also, it MUST have the DSG box)! Even so, still a great comprehensive review!
+MogadishuMan thanks and glad we could help !
I picked up my VRS estate TDI DSG yesterday, it has all of the optional extras possible, nothing was left off! It has everything from a wireless phone charger to a full glass panoramic dividing roof. And it is truly amazing!
Are you still happy with it? Are there annoying things?
@karlschleifenbaum5793 I absolutely love it. The DSG gearbox is fantastic! It is a bit sluggish despite it being 184bhp but I know these are tuned down from the factory so a good re-map should sort that out 😁
Nice, I should get one then@@lewisjenkins1114
Probably the best review I've seen so far. Great work :)
+Chris Bannister thanks! join us for more!
I really enjoyed your review, your English was very impressive, almost as impressive as the car, it makes a difference listening to a review in English rather than watching subtitles, although more people in Britain should be prepared to learn other languages rather than relying on other language speakers to learn English, As for the car itself, I love the Octavia Vrs,I own a 2008 estate/combi and I love it, the latest version may well be my next car, keep up the good work.
J G thank you! Indeed its really a lovely car with good price/performance
The first proper car review I've seen in a long time.
Subscribed.
Keep up the good work! \m/
Welcome!
From the A to Z on this amazing review. I checked a couple of time, tried the car by my side and just make my order as I wanted to changed my actual car. RS full option will be delivered in may 2016. THANKS a lot
+David Cau thanks so much as well !
A really detailed and thorough review !! Car is great !!
+Christos Livitsanos thanks!
+Autogefühl Great review as usual! Do you have reviews for Skoda Yeti, Toyota Avensis and Hyunday i40?
well, if a german sais its a good quality., who am i to argue
Babylonian Importrd best selling in germany. How are we to counter lol
Really good comprehensive review. I get mine in two weeks 😁😁😁
It's been a year since you commented, how has it been?
Great detailed review/camera work. I own an Octavia RS Estate/Wagon Petrol DSG and couldn't be happier with it. Great all round family/fun car that for the price I personally think can't be matched. The pricing for the Octavia in Australia is similar, if not slightly cheaper, than EU/UK which is a nice change. We normally have to pay a premium for EU made cars.. :-)
Danny B Thanks for the feedback, thats great to hear :)
I'm running a remapped Skoda Rapid notchback 1.6TDI. Later this year I will trade it in for Rally Green VRS combi tdi plenty fast enough for when I go working in Germany/Sweden/Italy and big enough to carry my kit. I have a 231 RX-8 for my Kicks in RWD. I love your reviews I think they are fantastic, clear and honest.
thanks jamie! We ll present you the Octavia Facelift review in about a week, stay subscribed!
Just bought a 2014 vrs because of your review, thank you :)
Enjoy 😉
@@autogefuehl Oh I shall :D don't suppose you know what wheels are on the model you reviewed?
Sorry no.. you gotta pick that by visual
Thanks for the thorough review. I'm considering this car as my family car. Looks like it will swallow the baby stroller and baby seat easily.
dantze thanks! :) Yeah that should easily work
excellent review - thank you!
Interesting review..enjoyed the review as usual...nice car and price i agrre with your comments about space!!! lots of detail keep up the good work!!!
Saeed Anwar thanks again saeed!
As always lovely detailed review by a gorgeous man in a nice car.
Pvulture b flattered ;-)
great review , best i have seen
🙏
Great review. I ordered full black this. I have to say ONE mistake: vRS. "v" means háček
Péter Szerze thanks! :)
Thanks for a VERY good review. Very thorough. Good job
Another great review subscribed :)
kevin c great kevin :)
Really good, very good review of the vehicle. been thinking of trading 5 Series Touring to smaller estate, reckon it'll be the RS Combi now... great job!
Detailed review as always from Thomas - appreciated.
Would you say that sound insulation is better on RS model than on regular Octavia version? This is my main concern comparing Octavia to "less fun" competition from D segment (passat, insignia)? Also continuing on the idea that corporate car driver who wants more fun driving experience instead of obvious choice like mondeo, passat or insignia - would you agree that for total versatility, which is one day sport experience the other days when you want just to cruise along for 2 hours - ADJUSTIVE dampers should have been an option for vRS
dalius titovas Thanks Dalius! No, sound isolation cant be different because its the very same car and they wouldnt make the effort changing the sound isolation for just a same model version. But imho the sound isolation is good, no worries. I think the vRS is totally fine for everyday driving. Yes, the non-sports version offers a little more comfort, but also less sportiness, so its the question what you prefer. But both will work fine, overall its one of the best price/performance cars
Great review!
Ironflag Tim thanks!
I will buy one of this.and believe rs is the best off the rest
Really awesome and detailled review! Great job! But you cannot hide your German descent... ;-)
a modern car that doesnt look like an angry emoji? it looks pretty good.
Wonderful review, guys, but I was only wondering whether we will see a test drive of Jaguar XE in the future
Vasiliy Kulev Thanks! Yes, will take some more time, but we ll definitely test the XE.
***** That is great to hear, since I'm really interested in that model, and your opinion I can trust, that's why it's important for me to hear it!
Vasiliy Kulev I appreciate that!
Love the skoda got a superb this wil be my next one xx
Jay W have you also seen our review of the new Superb?
I wish this was in the US :( looks soooo good compared the the wagons we have over here.
Really a great review 😊😊😃
thanks keep joining us :)
Autogefühl sure...☺️
Top review! This model is getting old now. Superb looks great but should Stretch to an A6 or save money and buy an Ibiza FR?
On latter "S", like german Ä, or danish Å. This is the origin of "v". Check it out.
Lovely car, thinking about buying one, hows the mpg around town on a manual diesel vrs?
How reliable are they?
Thinking this or a honda civic tourer 1.6 idtec.
For a new taxi.
Thanks
REVIEWS ARE GREAT, But i would like to see some on action of real life like two adults and a child seat in the rear and how comfortable would it be to sit there for 800 KLM Journey which is my normal airport trip just now .I Know it seems a long way to go but thats how things are in the eastern europe at times ,My Mondeo station wagon 2010 has a rear seat 1200mm and it,s not that comfortable for me .
It looks quite similar to an Audi B6 Avant. Especially from the side.
Bravo, Thomas! Another excellent presentation.
I'm in Canada and we don't see Skoda here unfortunately.
Do you know what the Skoda icon represents? To me it looks like a video game character like Sonic the Hedgehog!
I like the estate/variant configuration. BMW calls it Touring, at least in Canada.
Ciao! Any chance you can review the bmw 1er sometime soon??
Mario Dalla Riva Iook at www.skoda.com.au/about-skoda/skoda-history/skoda-history-logo
Mario Dalla Riva Hey, thanks! See below about the Logo :) I ll keep the 1-Series inquiry in mind, thanks!
Good idea!!
Interesting history on the logo
Hey Thomas, thanks for another very informative review! I was wondering however, the sound of the diesel while accelerating is kind of bad, but what about while cruising with like 120 - 140 km/h? Does it intrude the cabine? How s the car in general for cruising big distances, regarding comfort and noise levels? Thanks in advance! Cheers from a Greek friend!
the noise comfort has increased now with the facelift !
Autogefühl would you better suggest the octavia rs 4x4 tdi or the scout mainly for long work trips on good tarmac and maybe 10%of the time not so good?
+Vassilis Diamantis they're all good, how many km u drive a year depends on if diesel makes sense
Love my tdi vrs
Hi Thomas. I think few people asked you already but what about road noise in VRS 2014-2016? How is it compared to 2013 Passat Sport?
Some complain about wind noise on motorway with higher speed etc.
I expect it will be bit "stiff" on sport suspension but cabin looks solid and well put together.
Is it really so bad on long journeys...?
Thanks from UK.
If you take a Passat from the very same model year, the Passat will be more silent. Skoda improved that with the recent facelift however.
Anyone who has the automatic gearbox - how is it in busy roads in the city with lots of stop & go? One review I read said it wasn't great for these scenarios, being a bit jumpy.
Very nice :) Why some places call it RS and some VRS? Same car, isn't it?
The big question is diesel or petrol
Dsg or manual 😂😅
I habe herard abaut huge oil consumption from diesel and also have herad about problems with the camshaft adjuster at the petrol rs ... Also the dsg have some issues as the maual with the schwungrad and the cluth
I think there is no perfect car the times are gone 😢😂
Have one justlikethis in black, 4x4 1.8 TSi Revo2. Somewhhat 200kW
Great review! I'm searching for a Naviagtion system for this Skoda rs Combi. Do you know were you can buy the Columbus II Navigation system, not too expensive?
Dan O&O Hey, sorry no. You have to be careful as the ones on ebay are often the stolen ones.
Looks very similar to Volkswagen Sportwagen sold in the US?...
skoda is owned by Volkswagen
Thank you- that's interesting. Both great cars :-)
Have you had the opportunity to see MIB-2 (replacement infotainment system) for VWAG?
gbriank1 What do you mean? We had the maximum GPS system here, the Columbus
***** cars.reviewed.com/content/volkswagen-mib-ii-infotainment-system-first-impressions-review
gbriank1 ah, ok, no not yet
Want to thank you great review nice very informative.

schönes Auto
Great vid, but please don't were that jacket anymore it's so noisy and irritating, have a look back yourself, that said good job
How do we tell Volkswagen AG that these are cars we'd buy??? I'd gladly see a Passat All-Road Diesel with 4Motion!
gbriank1 indeed
***** It's as if Volkswagen is afraid to break the American stereotype that SUV's only sell here.
kanon fin bil ((= vad kallas färgen på bilen!!
+Thomas Sörensen :) venlig hilsen pa sverige!
Go for diesel or petrol? Or just go for the 230?
+Kjetil Rosenvold take the petrol ;)
+Autogefühl just ordered a rs230. With all options available. And the price in Norway is somewhat of a joke. 57000 euros. Loads of taxes. Lokking forward to a year or two with Skoda.
Kjetil Rosenvold lol wtf 57k for octavia
Ma passion yes. Loads of taxes on new cars in Norway. But we have wages to cover that.
Kjetil Rosenvold Yall must have many rights and stuff like that
hi does this navigation have live traffic and speed camera alerts?
+Don Miguel live traffic imho yes, speed camera alerts no
Because it is a czech car, with czech name, and "v" represents this. So, correctly: Octavia RS, not Octavia vRS. Anyway, I'll got it september-october.
Péter Szerze Sorry what das v represent, didnt quite get that? In UK its called vRS, in Germany we always refer just to RS
***** v=version, r=rally, s=sport
Czech Skoda ad also using just RS.
Two exhaust pipes ? Isnt one of them fake ? (only the gasoline has two real pipes)www.vwwatercooled.com.au/forums/f149/octavia-vrs-mk3-pics-theyre-finally-here-86553-16.html
About interior quality, I'm sad they went to the cost/weight saving slope: I really miss the 2006 Octavia that had soft materials everywhere (even the upper part of the doors, front and rear...)
GPS, reaction time still seems average compared to smartphones (or standalone units)... see you stopped actionning the right knob and the zoom-out was still working
I wish the gear sticks would disappear in all cars with gearboxes (àla Jaguar, or even better just three: D/P/R buttons)
***** thanks for the feedback! Yeah, some of the materials went cheaper, but still I think the cockpit looks pretty nice. I will check the exhaust pipe and get back to you ;)
It's still a great car, can't wait to see the new Superb Combi
***** Indeed! All-new Superb full driving review coming in the last week of April !!
***** Just checked. The answer is: yes and no. Yes, the aluminum part on the right side is fake. No, the exhaust behind the left aluminum fake part has 2 exhaust pipes :-)
Why do all car reviews have to review the top of the line, every option checked version that no one in their right mind can afford? We don't need a running narrative of what we can see with our own eyes, we need a decent mechanical description of what works and what doesn't - and how we can get the fucking car for the right money.
+Mai Naim yeah too bad its hard to get low spec cars. Trying my best.
+Autogefühl Fair enough, keep trying.
Just think about it. Why would skoda give a stripped down rather than full loaded?
184HP but 0-100 in 8 seconds? That's not good at all. The bigger Passat TDI with 150 HP does 7 seconds.
Passat does it in 8.7 seconds and top speed of 136 mph, Octavia rs hatch does it 7.6 and top speed of 144 mph
+A Freethinker its actually closer to 7.5 seconds in the diesel. with a remap you can get it down to about 7 but the best part of the diesel is between 40 to 90 mph where its quicker than the petrol
spoony spoonicus How high are ya?
But do you agree that 8 seconds for 184 HP is not good?
Freethinking Влади́мир No, its not but its diisel family car. If you really wanna fast octavia get with petrol enginw
Every car should be pleasing to the eye and Skoda definitely isn't. Lot of manufacturers design cars to match average taste and that is OK because they want to boost sales. But than in reviews that should be stressed. For me it is not enough for car to be as described ''not ugly'' even it is for taxi purposes or suburban family. Towns looks much prettier if taxi companies use Citroen C4 Picasso which is example of futuristic design with large glasses and great appeal. Skoda is quality car with great practicality and reliability but also very dull and too conservative.
g00dfeeling Thanks for the feedback. I dont share that view though, I think the Octavia has a very good design - and the all-new Superb is really beautiful, full review of that one coming up as well. I think Skoda lately also does a very good design job. What you other guys think?
Lol no Citroën look good. All shite !!!!
g00dfeeling I just can't agree. I think Skoda Rapid, Octavia, and Superb all look excellent (not a fan of the Fabia or Yeti). Clean, solid, yet somewhat understated. It's a perfect combination when you don't want to stand out but also want to take a bit of pride on your car.
As for the Citron C4 Picasso, I actually think it's ugly.
g00dfeeling Think you need new glasses, the Octavia Estate is a very nice looking car, and most people want a conservative looking car. BMW/Mercedes/VW for instance
Alan Akeister This car is dull. Made for boring people.

Hello Autogefühl. Thanks for the nice review. Wasn't the test car equipped with the Sound Activator when selecting the S Mode Driving profile?
+Nofiller1 Hey, thanks! Indeed we didnt have that option in this case.
+Nofiller1 It is available for the Diesel btw, but I heard that it shouldnt score the same good results than with the TSI
Great review, thank you.
