    For anyone who doesn't know context. Mcbeth and Conrad had been shot for shot all day. Going into the very last hole, Conrad was -38 and Mcbeth at -39. They had both layed up, and if Mcbeth layed up again it was an easy win. The only way for Conrad to tie it was on this shot from 200 feet, a near impossible shot. This is the last attempt he had at gold. This is the 9th inning of game 7, with 2 outs down to your last strike and the opposing pitcher has a no hitter. Absolutely legendary.

    • @steinarlarsen6084
      @steinarlarsen6084 2 года назад +105

      it makes more sense with context, cause without it its just a good lucky shot at its best. Like halfcourt basketball shot isent that impressive in it self tbh. but if its tie and 4th quarter with 1 sec left, it makes all the difference

    I'm only 31 years old and I am so happy with how far disc golf has come
    It used to be stereotyped as the leisure sport for cross country athletes, stoners, and anyone else that loved traversing the harsh terrain of out of bounds -- in attire that didn't help prevent you absolutely destroying your legs to retrieve the $10 disk you borrowed from the guy you told "no problem -- I've thrown a frisbee before"
    And now its the same stereotype

      @@snakefarm7174 You and I both know what he meant, or at least I did, so why be unnecessarily inflammatory? The expressed sentiment was clear, and, as is indicated by it being the top comment, appreciated. This is an excellent video and your comment seems unnecessary. As an aside, it's beautifully ironic the way in which you nitpick his vocabulary while using such terrible grammar. Thank god we're not in English class right now or we'd have a real problem; I know which comment, between yours and theirs, would have been picked apart harder by my former teachers. Do you?
      Also, if your frustration with his comment is because English is your second language and that "clutchest" not technically being a word makes it harder to understand what's being said, then I suppose I could understand, and I apologize for my feisty response above. All I can say if this is the case is that English is often bastardized by its' speakers and that although it can be frustrating for comprehension initially, it is ultimately part of its' beauty and hopefully you'll be able to appreciate that at some point in the future as many other English speakers do. For example, I'm sure there were some folks who didn't like the words Shakespeare made up at the time, but that sentiment certainly seems to have passed.
      I hope you can return to a video of this shot in the future, be awestruck by it's clutchness, and feel unencumbered by sentiments such as the one you felt the need to express here; it's really much more enjoyable that way. Have a good day m8

    For additional context, this was on the final hole of the final round of the 2021 PDGA World Championship, and this was a shot James Conrad needed to make in order to take the reigning champ (Paul McBeth) to a playoff to win the tournament for the first time ever. Oh, and then James won on the first playoff hole.
    It’s like if Rory McIlroy had holed his desperation shot on the 18th at the British Open this year to force a playoff, except imagine if he was facing Tiger Woods as the defending champion in his prime mid-2000s form and Rory had never won the tournament before. And then he went on to pull off the playoff win. It is likely to be revered as the greatest shot in disc golf history, and potentially the one to spark disc golf’s emergence someday as a mainstream sport.

      That was basically a part of three. And a shot 100 times less challenging than a hole in one for instance. In fact I've seen better throws from regular people on at least a dog leg.

    • @Gonzo1997
      @Gonzo1997 2 года назад +2

      It’s not an Ace, it was a throw in for Birdie. The other player (Paul McBeth) went for a lay up for a easy par to put pressure on James Conrad since he already had a 1 stroke lead. This tournament was for the World Title. So the fact that with that throw in from nearly 248 ft was to push to play offs where he then won was just insane and well deserved especially for how talented James Conrad is and never had a World Title until this moment!

    I was playing at Rosedale in KC around 1996. The second whole had a huge tree that ate drives. Guy I played with, Dave, who used to own a record store Midtown, had a serve that would turn into a roll. Well his throw was perfect, landed deep, started rolling, hit a rock and into the basket. Anyone who ever played there, knows that hole was a monster, especially when set deep. We were some of the first to work on the down under also.

      Yes ... e.g. buzzer beaters in NCAA tournament. Putts in golf that go in on the last hole to win/tie. Thinking right now of the bomb putt Justin Leonard holed to clinch the Ryder Cup for an amazing come-from-behind win. A much larger crowd went nuts, players running onto the green, etc.

      @@danlewis1885 dude this was the last hole of the WORLD championship and he made a near impossible shot to force a playoff. It's the equivalent of tying game 7 of the NBA finals with a full court buzzer beater, or a 99 yard TD on the last play of the Superbowl. You clearly don't understand sports at all.

    • @DBEENE123

      David freeze hit a game tying triple with two outs and two strikes in the bottom of the 9th in an elimination game in the 2011 World Series. Tiger woods made a birdie putt in the 18th hole of the us open to force a playoff. Dozens of basketball games in the do or die March madness tournament have ended on full and half court buzzer beaters. Several playoff football games have ended on final second Hail Marys and incredible 90+ yard running plays... this disc shot was epic, but with higher stakes and a lot more $$$ on the line , there have been a lot of amazing sports moments.

    • @danlewis1885
      @danlewis1885 3 года назад +1

      @@shootyhoops387 Throwing in to an unprotected basket is not "near-impossible". Unlikely, yes, near-impossible, no. This was a "World" Championship where 99.9% of international players stayed home because of COVID travel restrictions. I understand sports, you just seem to not know about other great moments. E.G. the interception on the goal line of New England/Seattle on the last play to save the win. Another SuperBowl where last play of game a guy on Tennessee IIRC is going in for a TD and is tackled on the 1 yard line. Constantino Rocca sinking a putt from the "valley of sin" on the last hole at St. Andrews in The Open Championship to tie John Daly. Tiger Woods birdieing the last hole of US Open to force a play-off which he would go on to win. Plenty of others in golf. Any overtime goal to win a Stanley Cup (and there have been several). I could go on-and-on.
