A teen in 1970's Boston, we'd watch the planes on their final approach, maybe 3/4 miles out of Logan airport, seeing the details and closeups looks almost magical to me, today's cameras are amazing.
Wow,after all,the weather wan't beyond or so to speak,but it was a spectacular shoot for everything it did to you,you everything is good,with the landings and takeoffs.
Basically at Sydney when Qantas returned their A380s they needed to do training flights that would take usually 1h over the ocean and then they would return.
QUESTION - to any aviators who might know: those planes with 4 engines - why do they not always use all 4 for backward-thrust braking after touchdown? I often see even the A380s & 747s only using 2 to slow down. In advance, thanks.
The a380 only has the 2 inboard engines fitted with reversers, as they found in flight testing that only 2 were sufficient to slow the plane down, so why add the extra weight and complexity. However, I’ve only ever seen 747s use all 4 thrust reversers.
@kylefaris5487 Also since the A380 has a huge wingspan the other 2 engines hover over the grass which is also an environmental issue because of the gasses and it harms the grass
