Thanks for another interesting video about your project, and thanks also for pointing out the mistakes you made! It is very instructive!

    That's coming along nicely!
Definitely clamp the rail down when using it as a router guide. Routers can create crazy amount of torque and get away easily. I probably would have done two passes. Another option would be to make a template (as perfect as possible) for a single cutout and then just use that to make all the openings. Just trace the opening on the workpiece, rough cut close to the line with a jigsaw, clean up with a flush trim bit. I'm a huge fan of templates.
In regards to the workbench base, I'd consider adding a couple of strips of plywood on edge to the underside to stiffen the base and hopefully prevent sagging in the future.
    Looking forward to more updates!

Good call on the template, I think that’s what I might do, unless I get impatient later today and just use a jigsaw, haha!
I posted a RUclips short last night showing the completed base. So much strong with no sag with all of the stretchers and cross pieces I put on it.

Thanks! It’s wild to be over 5,000 subscribers. I didn’t start with any expectations other than learning to become comfortable talking on camera.

Has using a torsion box interfered with your ability to utilize clamps in the dog holes too much?

    • @MasonWoodshop

Great question!! I made the torsion box tall enough that I can fit my Festool (or Bessey) ratchet clamps through the dog holes. I made it 9” tall between the top and bottom (10.5” total) and find it to be a comfortable height.

@@MasonWoodshop haven’t had the clamps restricted from certain angles because of the support from plywood pieces under the table top? Thanks!

@@jgarehart89 Nope, hasn't been an issue at all! With so many holes, I haven't been limited in any way so far.

Nice stuff. Why not just take a jigsaw and cut the holes that way?

That’s too logical for me, haha! I think that’s what I’m going to do later today.

Why not just use the tracksaw and then hand saw where the corners meet? Good videos on the MFT.
