    I recently read "The courage to be disliked ," (Koga/Koshima). I think Adlerian psychology is powerful and capable of changing lives so long.as one has the courage to admit that they are creating their own barriers.

    "Do you really not approach the man or woman you’d like to approach because you feel you’re too ugly or are you actually afraid of relationships? Because you’re so god damn afraid of relationships, you use the excuse that you’re too ugly in order to avoid reaching for that goal. Avoiding relationships is your real goal. " it makes me think so much. btw it's so funny when you say 'g** d***' in such a soft, soothing voice. :)

    I am an ardent supporter of Adlerian psychology. It's sad that he is not the father of psychotherapy. His approach was what we call as common sense. His teleology concept is what I am reading about now. This video clarified it. Thank you. Your voice is so calming. I would love more videos from you on Adler's concept.

    This sounds a lot like pull yourself up by your bootstraps. And while I agree that there are life lies, blanket attributing all issues to yourself is also dangerous. Example: existing in a time when society and big tech aim to disorient the masses. You can say its outside of ones control and therefor isn't even an issue in psychological terms, IE its hard to do something about it. Existential responsibility could be a wonderful thing if its served in context.

      It does sound like that from one POV, but on further investigation, I am convinced that it is not negating the depth or influence of trauma, simply asking the question "Yes and what now?" If the best way to manage the symptoms of trauma is to work on physical, psychological and emotional regulation, Adler would say, this is one of your life tasks, be courageous and do the work. It could also be said that the work of others who have not been impacted by trauma is to ensure that all who need it, have access to supports for the learning new behaviours of self-regulation. This fits with the overall idea of creating social good. We can resist big tech by spending less time using it

    Hi. Personally, i like both equally. Each could work in different situations, at least to me. while in therapy phase for my clinical depression (bipolar type 2 here), Freud's gave me assurance that whatever im having that time, wasn't my fault and i should not blame myself (which i did severely). My emotions n mood were validated too. I don't think Adler's would work that time, as i percept it seems to 'blame' a person, Although the actual term is 'responsibility'. Now that 'i am OK', exploring Adler's & teleology making so much sense, as i am building up my mental resiliency and Adler's really helps! ;-)

    • @PsychodynamicPsychology
      @PsychodynamicPsychology  Год назад

      I haven't, trauma is not one of my main interests. I prefer to study neurotic dynamics (instead of trauma or structural deficits) and inner conflicts.

    • @hiperventilat8064
      @hiperventilat8064 Год назад

      @@PsychodynamicPsychology aha. Although i am really neurotic and psychodynamic theory serves me well in some aspects, i suffered from emotional trauma in my childhood which i don’t think is easily treated at all with such approach since not enough focus is put on body sensation. If someone is traumatized and neurotic, it is impossible to heal the neurosis without healung the trauma first. Some concepts in Levine’s work might help a lot a subset of your patients. True trauma is not well understood. It puts an incredible physiological strain on the body and is known to shorten lifespans and increase the probability of all sorts of diseases. I am currently reading his book, Healing Trauma, and have had some insights that have been really helpful. I am also conscious of the fact that as I get better i will move more towards psychodynamic theory.

    Adler has no idea of the real effects of true trauma if he said we do not suffer from them and it has no bearing on how we live
    flashbacks are involuntary.. this has been proven by scans of brain activity and amygdala activity in people..
    it's learning how to live with it is the art
    they have TERRIBLE EFFECTS on people, emotional and even physical effects of stress caused by the flashbacks
    it's been proven they never go away.. we just have to learn how to live with it and still function
