The disadvantage is that you have to scroll through it all the time because you don't instantly see what is happening. I think for the viewing pleasure on RUclips floaties are better.
@@Freeque222 The problem with floaties is that if a lot of stuff happens, they get muddled and it's easy to miss. If you miss it, it's gone. The annoying thing with the log is having to wait for other AI activations to finish before you can scroll through it. But, at least the info is there
@@Freeque222That is not a disadvantage whatsoever, is just your perceived notion. This IS NOT a real time game, so seeing something instantly doesn't give any benefits. Is just your imagination. Started 3075 on Rasalhague. You are directly in middle of clan corridor. Options galore! Also with officer background at the very least your main character has Vtol and proficiency.
So whichever of the myriad options I selected had a Hell's Horses start for me. I took it, immediately deleted the save without even looking at the vehicles. You start on Hell's Horses home planet way out there. 1 million cbills and 159 days to get to the nearest inhabited planet lol as the start planet is 5 skulls. (also the exact same situation with Society start) Yeah love the idea but they need a way to detach start area from company type or at least move all the clan/society starts into the fringes of the IS or something. Also I agree can I have both floaties and combat log. I like the log to look back and see something I might have missed but also I like the instant feedback of floaties.
Yeah but unfortunately with the average time to start a new game and then reset the settings and try again to see it's a viable start that's a HUGE pain in the you-know-what. I know it's a free labour of love but I'd like just a little more info in tooltips in a few places I guess lol. Or maybe some way to remove non-viable starts from the options. However all that said i still love roguetech!!! Deeply appreciate the work they put into it and hate them at the same time for making the only video game that makes 54 year old me scream at the computer lol@@MrShodar
I feel your pain! Took me quite a while of messing with those settings to discover that not all starts are available on all ERAs. Just thought I could save ya some time/headache trying to figure it out (I also couldn't find the answer when I went searching the interwebs at the time). Battletech/Roguetech is about the only game that truly scratches that Battletech itch for me (other than the Mechcommander series - really wish they would continue/remake those). @@Merlin_Mryddrin
From the brief clip it sounded to me like at least the volume lvls had been normalised, but I may be imagining it :( Shame, I /really/ liked his character in the movie (& most of the other Donald Sutherland movies!)
One person who would have loved this game was Herbert George Wells. I read his book on wargaming with toy soldiers and there's not much here that he wouldn't have been initmately familiar with. Yes, Wells was a gamer in every sense that matters. Now before you say that yeah but they didn't have walking war machines during Wells time I can only say that we don't either, but they're not beyond our imagination, nor were they beyond his. He wrote about them in War of the Worlds, published in 1898.
He also would've loved the lore enviroment, from the Europe-style faction warfare of Sphere and Periphery, to the failed utopian social primitivism that drove the Clans mad.
every time I watch you do these play throughs, I fight myself so hard not to try roguetech myself. I've only ever played Battletech advanced, because that's just what people were recomending to me when I was just starting the game myself. So it's what I got used to and have just played that happily. But these always seem so much more in depth (which is a plus for extra options, but a minus as there is just so much more stuff to be unsatisfied with, keeping you from the stuff you want).
@56:30 - "How to get the flying unit?" Well, maybe use those SAM missiles loaded on the Bushwalker. BTW: @Baradul you sometimes click around like looking for a certain enemy mech. Just press the ALT button and all the enemy mech names will light up. I love that you play with the log - i often use it to scroll back to see what happened somewhere on the battlefield like a stray shot somewhere offscreen. But maybe you could remove your portrait from the log?
Rewatching to remember how this season started. It would be fun to see you start with tanks or power armor and work pirates. I do this occasionally and it is a good challenge.
Bradul: Oh I don't need to visit a store, I spend all my money already... Also Baradul few seconds later watching the store: WHAT?!! THAT'S NASTY!! wooo, Wooo, WOOO!!!!
Hey Bara, love to see the new season. I had been binging your HHR season and noticed the new patch and then your new season up! Huzzah! Looking forward to the content.
The new season is starting off well. I'm excited to see what new goodies can be found. I do agree with chrisfederspiel about Tankgirl, get her in VTOL training as soon as possible, she can train now while better vehicles are still far off. Thanks for the new series, it is sure to be a lot of fun.
Great start! I am now bit ahead already - but still to check all the changes. Nerf on optics hurts a bit, but kind of magnifies the electronic warfare usage more. With artillery being essentially ground attacks only, mortars are pretty good. Early without good pilots one can at least dish some damage to those ambush convoy missions and such.
You might have learned this by now, but there are both VTOL and LAM training modules. As you stated, they seem to last for about 6 months. There are separate ones for your commander and for your crew, unfortunately you do not get to choose who on your crew gets to go it is a random choice, so if it is someone you didn't want to train up, you loose a little money.
Pain shunts are broken. You still get thermal and neural implant feedback injuries. A lot of them. I have had multiple missions where pilots end up on 1 injury left at the end.
I'm glad to see they finally changed the mortor sound, though I wish the initial sound was a nice deep FWOOMP. Seems to be an unintentional(?) chance for a Stackpole. That really hurts in the very early stages, when you're hoping for salvage.
It would be really nice to know what some of your RT settings are, like what year you are starting your mission in and if you have friendly fire enabled etc. just the major items. Many thanks.
Do mortars still use ballistic hard points? If so I would put them on the Bushwacker for a fast indirect fire support mech. The Thunderbolt for the heavy weapon and mortars and LRMs to round it out. Either drop the large laser for more weight for specialty ammo or upgrade it to the Large Pulse that was just acquired.
Since heat on the firestarter is such an issue, why not use the spare pair of low heat lasers instead of all flamers? Do you just need all the close in burst fire (heh) you can get and the long range isn't so useful?
The advantage of the combat log over the floaties is the ability to scroll back up to find out WTF just happened.
The disadvantage is that you have to scroll through it all the time because you don't instantly see what is happening. I think for the viewing pleasure on RUclips floaties are better.
I scroll back through and still have no idea WTF just happened.
I still have no idea why I can't have both at the same time.

The Clan Hell's Horses start (as well as many others) depends on which map year (ERA) you select in the Roguetech launcher settings.

If you choose difficulty by Lance instead of planet, this won't happen.

Thanks!
Solid looking first two missions. Keep going Bara, always enjoyable to see you wreak havoc!
Glad to see a new series started. I kind of fell off the last series. I enjoy watching the early game struggles in most games.

i, especially, love the info about a harder midgame!
Neat that they added Bobby Singer from Supernatural to the portraits for Commander
Really looking forward to new series, Bara! Good luck and thank you! :)
Hello Bara. Happy for a new season.
Love the new start, hoping to see some mortar/arty + BA action :)
Looking forward to the new series.
Give tank girl the vtol appointment
This is the way!
Think this patch tankers and flyers are different. They each have unique icons now.
@@keebblestankers can gain proficiency in VTOLS if I read the patch notes properly. And MechWarriors can gain proficiency with LAMs
Early game recoil and jam's, gotta love it.
I found myself a SunSpider on day 124. And doing a Hell's Horses is giving you a lot of clan XL engines. The clan tanks are juicy too.
Loving the new start brother, I was hoping so much that you'd pick the protomech choice lol.
I really hope you get allied with a faction this playthrough. The loot magnet and the online faction shop that you get for it are both fantastic.
I got 2 light 20 ton mechs for my new RT start and i cannot believe they are still intact so far! Have fun. I love RT!
Woot woot. Just started a tank origin myself.
I have been waiting for a new start! It is finally here!!
Good luck. I'm looking forward,as always, to your series
SO EXCITED FOR THIS YAY!!!!!! I love the early game!
great start to a new season
Started as SLDFInExile, got a full Grim Reaper in the "Training Day" mission. Life's good :)

🎉Whooo BaraTech episode #1!
Yo @bara looks like you are off to a good start!
RogueTech!!RogueTech may have been playing it for a number of years, but it's gold and a joy to watch, thanks!!
Love the BTA 3062, but this really looks like something I might wanna try
Hooray for a new season!
V happy to see you finally starting a new series! The old one was getting a bit 'samey' IMO
Yay. It's Christmas in March!
Lookin forward to another series and a new campaign

fun fun fun and not bad loot rolls for two missions

What a nice loot Pinata. :D
It only feels right to be barabroke right from the start lol. Got some great loot first few missions there too.
So hyped for the new season
What is your RT configuration? I mean all those kill teams, nukes, set of pilots, Map year, etc.
Nukes is definitely off
I know the neural implants give really good bonuses, but you gotta feel bad for the poor mechwarriors
yey new rouge tech cant wait to see all the changes in new version :)

First shot of the campaign and it's a one shot, crazy
First attack in the series cored a medium mech... thats a good start.
ready for a new season!
Hello! I started my new play through two days ago. I went clan trueborn (Clone) so far so good!
Woo, new season! Mech request: jumpy Crusader with 2x RAC/5 arms

Is there anywhere where i can see what mods i need to get the same options. Especially the expanded mechbay
beat you to it! leettsss goooo!
