13 years ago, when my first band disbanded, I went to pursue creating guitar music on my own.
It has been one of the best decisions I ever made.
Playing guitar with a band or with other people is not for everybody.
Sometimes you are better off playing and creating on your own. It can even help bring out MORE JOY out of the experience, like it did for me!
Today, I want to discuss all the ways which makes playing guitar alone a worthwhile pursuit, in the hopes that it will inspire you to do the same if it's a good fit for you.

Absolutely agree. I’m also an introvert. I play music for myself. It’s like a meditation for me.
Well, this video was absolutely adorable ❤
Spent nearly my entire time in a bubble playing. Then I caught some attention last year and I found myself in a band.
I had the opposite thing. I was craving someone to bounce off of and gain inspiration because it gets boring being on your own. Just like it gets tiring of being in a band and get the joy of music sucked out.
My balance is just getting out there and sharing. No hit records or anything like that. Even if a few really connect with the music and love what I create, then that makes me happy.
I'll always have the music regardless of everything else, band or bubble.
Hey my friend. I can totally relate to some of this video. I have also been an introvert in the past. I’m on both sides now but playing music really helps me to express myself and you’re one of the reasons that I got into ambient guitar in the first place. Thank you so much for doing what you do. Means a lot. Hope you are doing well.
Really resonated with this..I love playing solo
I think you have created one of the most unique guitar channels. Also, as more of a classic rocker, I learned a ton from your KORDZ course. I never played like that and it was a great intro for me to play ambient music. Always enjoy your videos and playing style.
Thank you so much 😄
This might be the most powerful video created on this channel . I thank you for empowering the introverts! So many pro's and cons with playing with a band, thanks for positively giving musicians a new avenue to explore.
cheers!
You are speaking to a lot of people's hearts with this one, Antoine!
I am not really an introvert, I'm just not a very good guitarist so I play alone 😂
I am lucky enough to have a little studio that is in a separate building from the house and it is my sacred space to play, write, paint, or simply be. I wouldn't swap that space for the world - it is my sanctuary!
Thanks for your insights, my friend. Always love watching your videos. Keep them coming! 😊👍
Oh, Antoine, I feel like this video was made for me! You have succinctly described my psychology and philosophy, although I think I'm a little further down the spectrum than you- still not good at the sharing part... I've had a difficult month, but your enthusiasm and optimism have cheered me up 😃 Merci et au revoir!
Thank you Antoine!
Lovely Man! You get it right. Joy, communion and bliss to you.
As a now retired drummer first I agree I ditched bands in 2013 and sadly lost a number of friends or were they simply musical acquaintances? Anyway I do write quality songs and love playing music on my own' band NOT required'! IF I'm ever in a band again it will be my band playing my songs...but I'll worry about that another day LOL.
What a lovely video
NICE ONE.
Quote of the Day for me was… “If you are an Introvert, solitude is Bliss”
Practicing my music is my meditation 🥰🎶
Thanks Antoine. That's me.
This was just so unbelievably good. Almost life changing LOL Thanks for the inspritaion and thinking outside of the box!
thanks for the inspiration and one of the best lessons ever
Yes Sir Antoine! It is call going somewhere, Where? Let me know brother. So true. Being a professional musician and still learning what I find hard is the travelling and forgeting which city you are in. Much love, a la prochaine chum, Gerr!
You articulated exactly where Im at as a musician on all points, Antoine. The stage nerves, introvert, no compromises, not a human jukebox, old dude, etc. My music is my bliss and, in a way, sacred. I just wouldnt fit into the current politics of the music business.
What hit home even more was your philosophy of the karma of sharing our musical creations. I know deep down in my soul this is true. Good stuff, Antoine.
Great video Antoine!
Terrific Antoine.
Its a creative spiritual endeavor 🎉😊
Excellent video
Speaking the truth. Everyone I know that gigs, loves the idea of performing in front of people. All else is secondary. Any band with 2 guitarists will have a “sonic space” discussion sooner or later.
My biggest problem is having to learn a cover tune of a band I can’t stand because someone else wants to do it, I kind of develop an attitude and just can’t get into it, probably why I only play out as a solo act.😂
I can relate to this i ditched my band
Totally agree with all your points. My band never reformed after Covid and during that time I had been inspired by you and others to move in a more ambient direction. The band would never have wanted or been able to play in this style but I’ve been able to release far more music with just a couple of occasional collaborators and no one telling me what not to play. Just one question though - why does that Flint stay on your shelf? It’s one of my favourite pedals for ambient sounds ❤
Great video - I thank you.
I love playing alone but have one dilemma, which is - what are realistic ways to create backing/accompaniment for when one plays alone??
Looping
@@petermcgarrymusicandflying
agreed, looping, I feel that backing tracks get borderline cheesy, although the 99% of the audience at a gig that isn’t a musician doesn’t seem to care.
Get the Trio or Trio + pedal! It’s awesome! It’s a band in a box. Check it out on RUclips
@@aerowise1321 Hi, thanks for the recommendation. Could you let me know if the Trio is difficult to use in terms of menus? Also, in your opinion does it track the guitars signals accurately?
Thank you again for your help.
Except for lessons I take I play alone I've actually learned alot that way --- yes I'm retired in my 50s realistically I probably won't be in a band
I prefer writting by myself with cubase
Less drama too without a band
Plus- you can stay-in-your-socks All Day.
