I'm not 100% sure, but I think the reason the paralyzed Dragonair outsped you is because Agility over-writes the speed cut from paralysis if used when already paralyzed. So you end up with 200% of your original Speed regardless. But if you use Agility first and then get paralyzed afterwards then your boosted Speed gets quartered, so you end up with 50% of your original Speed in the end in that scenario (but hypothetically if you used Agility a 2nd time you'd then jump to 300% Speed as it would again ignore the paralysis Speed cut). I think that's how it works at least.

We draw a line somewhere, some top lvl people wanna get rid of 256s. It's all kinda arbitrary, even with cart accuracy as the standard.

I would not want to live in a world without Gen 1 Counter, without Gen 1 Hyper Beam, without Gen 1 Blizzard, without Gen 1 Amnesia, without Gen 1 Body Slam and so on. If anything, I want some of those mechanics to come back lmao

While some people may use the term "luck" to describe the positive outcomes of their skills or efforts, luck itself is not a skill in the traditional sense, as you can't train to improve your luck.

It quarters your speed and in only gen 1 it also quarters it again for each stat change that occurs on the battlefield due to a programming error (might just be an opponent’s stat change, not sure). The additional speed nerfs are undone when the paralyzed Mon switches out.
To add to all these, because of the stat mod glitch, using Agility would reset the Speed stat. This also works with the burn status. Rest also didn't work properly and would keep the Attack or Speed drops even after curing the status condition. It was a strange time. Most of these oddities were fixed in Stadium.
I like gen 1 and i love playing it with my friends casually. I would say instead of just strictly gen 1, i like to see a few "interesting" metas. gens and tiers that may not get alot of love.

The worst part about lower tier Gen 1 is most things don’t have a lot of bulk. Like from my experience it’s either something is bulky and has offense or it’s just frailer then a Caterpie so the high grit rate just gets you a kill every time. A grit is a kill in most contexts if it’s not bulk unlike later gens where things aren’t that frail 99 percent of the time so unless they are very offensive they will still probably live. Then you get way too overwhelming offense in Gen 9 and your bulk doesn’t even matter really. Gen 2-3-maybe 4 strike the right balance with me. Gen 4 has some moves pushing it.
Eh, I‘d rather watch other tiers than Gen 1 tbh. I‘m a gen 4 child myself, so always open to that. Otherwise, I like learning about the tiers after that. I‘d also be on board with gen but mostly everything after or within gen 4

Raising a stat undoes the speed drop tho, and resting it off keeps the speed what it was prior to rest
