Acura MDX Painting Brake Calipers DIY
In this episode I will be painting brake calipers on my MDX.

I just replaced all the rotors/pads on mine and lamented the rustiness of my calipers, I figured you might have a video on that subject and it was one of the first suggested videos I saw tonight, go figure. The black color contrasts well, looks good!
Thanks! I’m good with my brakes so far (OEM brakes). Installed them in 2015, it’s been about 40K miles since then, they perform normally. But will definitely do a video when replacing them.
I bought poly coated rotors for the rear and only could find oem for the front. Honestly I prefer the polymer coated ones because of the silver/rust preventative finish. The front rotors, only a week old have an inch of light rust between where the pads wear on the rotor and where the painted part of the rotor hat is.

Do you personally think that Fram ultra synthetic oil filter is still superior to an original oem Acura oil filter, considering that the cost of the Acura filter is the same, or (possibly) less?
I have no complaints so far. Opening valve covers later this or next year will show. I’ve seen a couple of videos with cutting the oil filters and it looks like both the original Honda and Ultra synthetic FRAM have solid insights.

Noob question, never have done anything with calipers before. I know normally when jack-standing an axle the emergency brake is on. When doing the prepping and taping, can the emergency brake still be activated or will that interfere with getting the tape or plastic under the caliper? TIA! Nice video to give me the confidence to try this! Going to go red on my black '07 MDX with black Acura decals.
Hi. In MDX the emergency brake is a drum brake under the rear brake rotor caps. It engages by applying braking shoes from the inside of a rotor cap against it. So putting it on (which you should be any time that you stop the vehicle and shut the engine off) is fine.

I don't see you use Primer. Is a Primer coat needed prior to the 1st colour coat?
With this spray paint you don’t need primer.
