Really? I know this comment is 2 years old but every aspect of that song is essential to me. Every sequence, chord progression, lyric, drum machine pattern and grinding bass line is what makes this one of my favorite songs ever recorded. Far and away my favorite New Order track and that's hard to top for me!
@@jamesortiz6312 This particular song though is exactly why Hook not being in New Order anymore is just wrong. Without him, New Order are a table with a missing leg.
Hookys bass & percussion solo is what we're really waiting for (and the frogs). But I love the lyrics by Barney? So yeah tough one. I think tho it's Hookys song on balance ... ruclips.net/video/C9VUu6ear3M/видео.html
It might have been 41 years since New Order was founded, but Hooky still plays the bass like no one else and despite his age, he is capable of playing those really quick-paced riffs like Perfect Kiss. But not only is he a very great bassist, he is also an absolutely nice and down-to-earth fella from what I've picked up in all the recordings I know of him (and I consider myself to have seen a lot of video material).
Both Hooky and Stephen Morris's motorik drumming. Both brilliant. Wish the two of them still got on. When Barney and Hooky divorced, Barney got Stephen, Gillian, and Johnny Marr.
There are certain people who can pick up a musical instrument & take it, themselves and you and me to very different place! It may very well be because no one told them you have to play it this way, or , you have to play it that way, or maybe it's just one's heart telling the hands what must be done, case in point , the ever brilliant , Sir Peter Hook!
it's because New Order's replacement bassist can't do the perfect kiss bass solo he just keeps playing the main melody from live recordings I've seen. This was a jab at him.
Of note is for a while Tom used 20-fret basses. You can't do this song without that 21st fret, for starters. I love Fenders but they could use that extra fret.
@@GVike I only have a 20 fret bass and I'm able to play it because I tune my G string up to an A, allowing me to hit that note. I just have to work the rest of the song around that everything on the G string is two frets lower with that tuning
N.O. without peter hook is not new order in my opinion, they should have call themselves 'reorder' or 'new lineup' it's more like bernards new version of 'electronic' really.
As a fan. I don't like his part in the split. As a fan, I wish he were still in the band. In the long history of rock "no brainers" Hook v New Order was right up there. IMHO
Obviously a dig at Tom Chapman, the current bassist in New Order. Must say, I'm not feeling the live drumming. The Perfect Kiss requires that machine driven feel that can only be achieved by using sequenced drums or a drum machine.
There’s a bit missing from both bands really, kind of like splitting a pb&j, yeah they’re great alone, but they’re missing something, but together they’re even better
He's right. Perfect Kiss will always be his. It's all about that bassline.

Hooky's the type of guy you'd expect to walk in on your garage band practice and say "aye I used to be in a band you know?"
he’d say that and then proceed to play your face off, even after years of not playing
I seen an interview of almost exactly that but it was someone on the street he was talking to lmao. ill see if I can find it and reply with link
😂😂
Aye absolutely mate! He's just amazing! He's the best! HOOKY VIKING! HE'S THE SOUL ON NEW ORDER AND JOY DIVISION
And he did it in a Nirvana t-shirt. Much respect 10/10
He is the New Order sound. Period. Irreplaceable.
Both Hooky and Stephen Morris's motorik drumming. Both brilliant. Wish the two of them still got on. When Barney and Hooky divorced, Barney got Stephen, Gillian, and Johnny Marr.
I listen to this masterpiece every day
The Father and Son show. Bassorama!
*Best ending to a song ever*

I love Peter Hook's style, it's so melodic but I think it's funny how he bigs himself up, he wrote the bassline, he should be able to play it 😅

@@Skims19hooky said the exact same thing when he performed “dreams never end” and he really was not lying. played his ass off
I'm with you on this. I walked out of his last gig, tired of him big upping himself.
He reminds me of JJ Burnels style too.
When I saw him a year ago, he mostly just wore his bass and needed a music stand for his lyrics. It was really disappointing.
i like how theres two bassists hahahaha that was freakin great playing
it's his son playing
Hooky, I fookin' luv yer
In Argentina he said exactly the same. Peter, you are fantastic!
cuando vino a argentina??
@@mauriciocorrea1389 Segun los videos de youtube, vino en 2014, 2016 y 2018, buscalos ! Suerte.
Cómo compatriota, vale decirte que el mejor bajista Argentino Diego Arnedo se influyó mucho del gran Peter Hook
Hooky still rocks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sorry New Order - I love you, but no Hooky, no looky.
The fucking boss of the bass!!!
Greatest bass player of all time
Most overrated you mean.

@@wattage2007 mind you don't cut yourself on that Edge.

Always a highlight of any Hooky gig, until they play Temptation anyway! Perfect Kiss is stunning with Hooky playing it live.
Fookin brilliant! Thanks for sharing : ) x
Fantastic. One of the best NO songs
Мастер -класс ) Обожаю его манеру игры на басс - гитаре
That's my favourite piece of base. EVER!!!!
just awesome
So much better in a small club like this,.

Agreed!
He's a good lad.
Hooky might be able to fookin play Perfect Kiss, but he’s not able to fookin sing it.
To be fair, neither is Bernard these days.
@@sturdeehouse You mean he has a hard time singing as false as he did in the 80’s?
Yeah I have agree.

Hooky is new order. Full stop
Please come to Brazil
YES
Since he is wearing a Nirvana shirt, i wonder what his thoughts are on them
Bet he threw that shirt into the crowd after LWTUA
WOW!
Never figured out how he played so low
Tried it and my arms couldn't reach.

Without Hooky, the NOrder sound is unmistakably like Pet Shop Boys.
that mancurian sound!!!
Ok. Is there a way to find the entire song, or even stretching it a bit, the entire concert?
1:07 Wink to "Murder" by the guitar...
👏👏👏❤️❤️❤️
Hooky invented the New Order sound. 😑
Was this shot on an iPhone1??? 🤷🏼
No , filmed with a potato
He never tires of telling the world how inportant he was/is does he? Fair play, I suppose he was.
In New Order, he was. Electronic bands there were many. How many had a bass guitar as a lead though??
No he doesn't big himself up at all. He is pure and simply a top bloke.
He's pretty masculine

ripper
Name one New Order hit that doesn't have a catchy bass line. New Order w/o Hook is bleh.
Always in Barney's shadow. Bitter.
Fuck yeah!
