    Thanks kennith,this helped me to open m645 j body,and it was not used by my client for over 10 years.Just lubricated the mechanism by WD40 and it started working.Now keeping it for test for few days.
    Your all repairing videos encourage me.There are very few repairers left in India who dares to put their hand in such age old valuable cameras. Thanks a million once again.

    I just finished doing a repair on a 135mm film holder for my Mamiya Pro TL and Super. The film counter was stuck when it came in and would not reset when new film was installed. The index marker came loose and lodged up against the count wheel. I removed the side where the count window was and resealed the window and fixed the index mark so it would not fall down. Film now will load and advance when On/Off button is moved to Start. I may have looked at this video earlier this week but I had not tagged and put it in my subscription. Thanks for the confirmation on my repair that I did it right.

    once I had this problem, I found the gearwheel at the end of the cassette rubber wheel loose on the shaft.
    I fixed it with a tiny droplet of epoxy glue between shaft and gearwheel.

    Thank you so much for your instruction on how to tear down the camera. I have a question, in my case, when I winding film in advance it seems that its triggers the shutter automatically(the wind won't stop and make a shutter sound when finishing one round). I cannot fire the shutter button at all. I would like to ask your advice on this problem. Thank you in advance.

    Thank you very much, not quite the same problem but a bit of jiggling and some oil has cleared it right up. Mine wound and cocked correctly just the counter never moved.

    • @mikeno62

      Thanks, it could be the spring that prevent the counter from moving, just an idea.

      @@mikeno62 I guess that explains the little lever spring that fell out as soon as I opened it :)

    Hello Kenneth,
    Do you maybe have an advice for me. The mirror always stays up at 1/250 when the lens is on M. Also when there’s no lens on the camera. The other shutter speeds work just fine. Battery is new too. As soon the lens is on A the 1/250 speed seems to work. This is so weird and only happens at 1/250. I have a friend with the same issue at 1/60. Do you have a advice how to fix or investigate this issue ?
    Beste regards
    Kevin

    How can I get in touch with you to send you some images of my M645 that I am working on? I believe I have corrected the frame counter issue to some extent, but it still stop advancing on two numbers, 5 and 8. I have to keep cranking it and firing the shutter until it advances. Also, the switch that resets the mirror and closes the curtain still will not work. I have to press the bottom tab on the switch (SW1) to make the curtain close.

    I have an m645 1000s, almost the same as this one, but the crank is different.
    It used to take one revolution to advance the film/cock the shutter.. but now.. after only my second roll has gone through it, it's difficult to advance the film, and it take 2 full revolutions to cock the shutter.. I'm just confused because it happened out of no where :/

    Hello, Thanks for this video! Very helpful. I`ve just met the same problem with my M645, but when it is loaded with film it still winds, shutter counting works everything else works fine. the broblem is only when film is not loaded. Do you think i should do this process anyway?

    • @jean-claudemuller3199
      @jean-claudemuller3199 Год назад +2

      This is normal.
      You have to move the empty spool on the take side to make it work.
      It's because the rubber wheel has to measure the length of film on the spool to activate the frame counter.
      If this wheel doesn't roll properly on the spool (ie slides) you have frames overlapping.

    Hello thanks for the video! I have a mamiya 1000s and I just got it. I was test running some features without film. Does it need film to advance the lever? Every time I test it it moves from s to 1 but when I try to advance it again it doesn’t move. So I guess I was wondering if that’s where having film comes in? I never had one of these cameras so I’m confused does anyone know if that’s the problem

    My camera seems to work fine, when no film and film insert are loaded.. when I put the film insert In, it winds to to first frame, I take a picture and then advance the film to 2, but as it is about to stop at 2, the film advance freely spins.

  • @zosxavius
    @zosxavius 5 лет назад

    I just picked up one of these today and the advance cocks the shutter but sometimes keeps turning. And now it spins freely and then eventually stops and I can fire the shutter again. I'm pretty sure this is a similar problem now that I see this video. I'll have to check out the insert for starters. I have the 45. How hard are they to break down and clean? That;s actually worth 300 or so in good shape, so worth fixing really.

    • @mikeno62
      @mikeno62  5 лет назад +1

      Well, I don't have so much experience with the Mamiya M645, but as I remember there are many screws around and some of them are not very easy figure out, if it's necessary to unscrew or not. Maybe you can get a repair manual for the camera, so it would be more easy to see what going on in the camera.

    • @zosxavius

      Mine seems to have several problems. The battery in it is enough to light the check light but the metering viewfinder does not seem to properly work. It could need a fresh battery, or the meter is just dead. The battery is enough to run the shutter so I think the meter might just be bad. The viewfinder itself also has an interesting line going through the mirror that looks possibly like it would clean off but the eyepiece also seems to have the same line which is odd. Also the film back doesn't want to open. Feels jammed. I'm pretty sure that the film advance problem is what I'm seeing here but I need to get it open to really see what's going on. I kind of like it because it's mamiya's first 645 even I have the wimpy J model with no mirror lockup. The mirror kicks pretty hard too. I can see why handheld below 1/60 is ill advised. I like that you can take off the finder and have waist level automatically too. It seems somewhat well thought out and mostly simple. I have a Pentax 645N and that is a much more complicated beast really.

    • @zosxavius
      @zosxavius 4 года назад

      @@mikeno62 I pulled it out of the closet and had another look. It definitely looks like the film insert is causing the advance to fail. Mine just spins freely sometimes after frame 1 and isn't advancing the counter. I'm pretty sure as you show the insert is the problem.
      Low and behold, I got the meter to work. I was just using it all wrong. That got me kind of interested because I have a nice 45/2.8 to pair with it that looks like I only need to pull the front element off to clean. If I even bother. I've used far worse lenses with ok results. It doesn't seem terribly hazed or anything. I'm going to play with this insert or just simply replace it and see what happens. Thanks for this video.

    So basically the fix is to apply oil to that gear that controls the counter?

    • @mikeno62
      @mikeno62  3 года назад

      Well, I don't think it will make it by just adding oil, because it can also make it worse over time. I'm working on more videos about one of my old M645 that have problems with the film advance, it will come out sooner.
