Truly a sad loss. Charlbi Dean was great in her feature debut. It's bittersweet to see them having such a great time together. This film is so special it will live on in her stead.

Just saw the movie for 5 minutes ago and I loved this film so, so much! And now I just read your comments and saw that Charlbi is dead…😢 so sad she really did an excellent job as the part of Yaya and I think she would have been a superstar going on as an actress.. R.i.p dear Charlbi..😢
I just watched the movie and then found out Yaya (Charlbi Dean) passed away 3 months back. I though she would be in lots of movies after Triangle of Sadness but fate had a different plan!
Fincher? Scorsese? Spielberg? Tarantino? Lucas? Paul Thomas Anderson? Kubrick? Coppola? Coen? Nolan and Hitchcock, though British, made their films in America... Ring any bells?
You can see a vertical stomach scare on Chralbi in the film. She was in a terrible car accident in 2009 and had her spleen removed. Her brother said her resistance to a virus was severely reduced. She came down with a virus in NYC, her brother believes the lack of a spleen was the cause of death.
I saw the movie and it grabbed me from the start. At first I though I was going to see a very smart indeep movie about relationships and how to grow into better and real. Then when I read the sinopsis and found out about the ship wrek and "survive in a desert island" it came to mind a 1957 british movie called the admirable Crichton. Lots of similarities because it deals with the same subject: Social roles and what can happen when they are strip out of us. The 1957 movie went more far showing the group returning to comon life. Although the rich woman and the poor men were in love, they broke appart and conventions were followed. So what happens in the end of this movie with the characters? Well... I guess one will die or worse yet: become desfigured and paralised. And the other will go to jail and live miserably and alone, wile we all reflect how nice and helpful she was in a moment of distress.
I was thinking the same thing--this conference seems like the kind of thing the film was making fun of! I'm actually really disappointed. I get the impression that the filmmaker doesn't actually believe in the criticisms levied by his film.

The film was almost like a watered down dumbed down version of what a REAL CRITIQUE would be. When Woody and the Russian were trading barbs and quotes about capitalism and socialism you could have continued that for 5 minutes and piled on right there. I felt like the movie should have piled on at certain political points but just held back, disappointing!!!
The politicking part is meant to display the ideological warfare that we humans focus on while the much bigger threats of climate change (sinking boat, pirates) and such are going on.
@@GoogleAccount-tg9lp The ideological warfare is linked to the much bigger threats and such that are going on... when one ideology is against focusing on the bigger threats you can't just brush off that warfare...

The first 2 parts of Triangle of Sadness were excellent. They reminded me of The White Lotus. Part 3, however, was hideous. It was too long. It was lit like Gilligan's Island, and the long drawn out story was unconvincing. This movie went from excellent to one of the worst movies of 2022.
