Louis Armstrong - Budapest 1965 (rare footage)

Louis Armstrong and his All Stars in 1965 played in Budapest, Hungary, behind the iron curtain. The crowd was so big, that with the approximate audience of 80.000 people in the national football stadium, the event is still considered to be one of the biggest jazz concerts ever in history.

Louis sings Hello Dolly in favour of a man from countryside, jams with the local jazz band who came for his arrival at the airport, later receives a special hungarian csikóbőrös kulacs with tokaji wine in it. Inredible footage and talks with Louis Armstong in Budapest.

What an irony of life, Satchmo was treated much better in Hungary than in many parts of the United States, staying in first class hotels regardless of the color of his skin, he was treated with much respect and admiration.

I used to pass this man's house everyday walking to school 50+ years ago on 107th Street. Never knowing how good he really was or how important he was to Jazz being a kid those days The Jackson 5 was the biggest thing in music. His music was. for Old Folks I guess I'm old now LOL I love his music so much. I remember when he died what a big deal it was to all the adults.

Arra lennék kíváncsi, hogy 65-ben , a kotabeli technikával, egy Népstadionn méretű helyet, hogyan hangosítottak, mekkora hangerő volt, hogy szólt?

Nem volt ilyen teljesítményhajhászat mint ma, nem remegett a lelátó, de hallatszott, és ez pont elég volt. 21 évvel később a queen hangosításához, és fénytechnikájához felsorakoztatták az összes elérhető honvédségi agregátort is. 65ben aligha volt összesen 1000w a hangteljesítmény.
