The explosion of the First Bomb (and Third Bomb) is technically there, but also is not, it's visually shown to viewers and does have some bomb characteristics (not working in a vacuum and needing to make a detonate gesture and it having a blow radius) but also it does not really work like an actual explosion in that it does not destroy the environment (Kira can also use it safely next to himself like with the annoying guy he blows up, at least for the First Bomb and Third Bomb), they only harm or atomise living matter with their belongings (only exception is SHA a.k.a. the Second Bomb and Stray Cat's ability where the explosions damage the environment, likely would also Kira and are likely visible and audible). Killer Queen is able to literally atomise things and people if they are directly touched by Killer Queen's hand or touch and remain in contact with an object it turns into a bomb, literally deleting them from existence (like happened with Shigechi and momentarily with Hayato and the random guys Kira killed, also we see Kira use it on his hands, it just takes a little bit of time unlike the Hand). Also, there is no indication that the First Bomb KQ and Third Bomb (Bites the Dust) explosions are heard or visible to even Stand users, when Shigechi exploded, Josuke and Okuyasu only came because they heard his voice, they did NOT hear or see the explosion. There are scenes that accurately depict how First and Third Bomb Killer Queen's explosions feel - no sound, no explosion, the item/person just suddenly disappears from existence (relatively gradually). There are times when the explosion has a force that affects the environment if it blows a lot which feels more like an explosion occured, namely through Sheer Heart Attack, which seems to act like a real bomb, the explosions are visible and heard with it most-likely (Kira seems to be able to control the power of Killer Queen's explosions and decide how much it blows up - AND/OR it may also depend on the size and mass of the object, we know Kira can control what he blows up, how much and what remains), but the blast and the boom sound mostly is still shown more for the viewer, since in-verse, no bombastic explosion occurs (except for SHA and Stray Cat again which are autonomous extensions that KQ utilises so it makes sense why their explosions behave and feel different from the regular KQ ones). In the Manga, it would be difficult to show Killer Queen without showing the explosions directly (there is at least no sound:D)

Araki didn't like when you had to focus on power-scaling because with series like Dragonball you had to constantly up the stakes and go EVEN FURTHER BEYOND to keep things interesting, for him it was a creative trap and he wanted to instead focus on utilising his huge creativity, hence Stands were born. Stands remain fresh because they do not strictly follow the rules of power-scaling and they do not focus on the physical power plane for their power, so even a relatively meh Stand can defeat an otherwise much more impressive and OP Stand if the meh Stand is used logically and plays to its strengths and is in the right environment and is able to logically bypass or exploit the OP Stand's ability in its favour. JoJo was a breath of fresh air back in the day for not really following the power-scaling for its power system but instead focusing on getting around it. A Stand with a Universal power level can technically be defeated by a building-level Stand if the conditions allow it, which happened at the end of Part 6 (though it's hard to measure Weather Report in terms of power level since Stands are not about the physical power but about their main ability, its ability can be theoretically Planet-level if it was used fully but only very theoretically, though then it was enclosed in a room)

There's a lot of ways to read JoJo's. Most would recommend to start on Part 1, and then read Part 2, move onto to Part 3 and then Part 4. If you continue in this order, you'll eventually make it to Part 6. After Part 6, you might want to consider starting Part 7. Afterwards you'd move onto Part 8 and then eventually you'll be caught up to Part 9, the current Part.
Start from chronological order, p1 is slow and a bit dull but you won't get confused with parts 2-8 but p3 is when stands are officially introduced to the series.
