What Are the Side Effects of Xofigo?

Xofigo treatment is used for symptomatic late-stage (metastatic) castration-resistant prostate cancer that has reached bones but not other organs. According to the FDA, Xofigo is aimed at male patients whose prostate cancer metastasized despite receiving medical or surgical interventions to reduce testosterone levels. Dr. Simon C. Lam says this treatment does have side effects associated with its use, but these are very manageable. Most patients have no trouble overcoming them.
Xofigo is used to extend the life and quality of life for patients of these late-stage prostate cancers. Xofigo contains radium which is radioactive. This treatment is effective because the radiation patients receive only travels a few cell lengths in the body. Since it only travels a short distance, side effects are minimal.
