Neither one had any idea what was coming with Trump. Amazing that something as nasty as COVID to sink him.
I ask that you not be fooled by legalistic Christians in this world. Jesus really dislikes us when we use His Gospel to condemn others for their sins BECAUSE we are all sinners. As Mr. Brooks said, as Christians, we struggle every day against conforming to this world and work toward our calling based on Jesus' teachings. As much as we are against gay marriage because it is against God's design, we are also called to love each other and to remain compassionate and humble. God hates a prideful heart.
I am grateful that Mr. Brooks is aware of the struggle we face. I have friends and family members who are gay and I see their struggle too. I hurt for them but I cannot compromise on what I know to be the Truth. I offer them my friendship and empathy and assurance that they are not going to be rejected based on their sin --- for I have been too rejected by others and it's very painful. I do hope that they find their true purpose on this side of heaven. When we finally find it, everything else comes second, including our sexual selves.
If you put aside any resistance you may have toward accepting the truth of the Gospel, you will find that every honorable idea Mr. Brooks just explained and discussed has its basis on the teachings and truths Jesus taught. They are all in the Bible. I wish I had learned these too as a young adult, even better as a child. It would have saved me from many unnecessary struggles and disappointments.
I have made many mistakes in my life and have apologised where these impacted others. However, my heart is good and I am not a sinner. If Christianity is about sins, then I would rather be a Buddhist, which, to me, is much more positive, and still is about doing good.
Dr. Brooks, Unfortunately, Adam 1 and Adam 2 are impossible to make perfect balance inside of us because of our sinful nature. Don’t you think many people born with opportunistic, self-server Adam1 than virtuous, serve-others Adam2 like Cain murdered his own brother Abel by jealousy then he refused repent to G-d. How we can expand ourselves spiritually to be good Adam2 without repentance?🤷♀️
You have to do the reading.
Universities were established by religious institutions. Courses in religion, philosophy, and ethics were required. Then, we began repressing religious thought in public and education.
Read the Bible: Jewish thought and the Gospels.
We can still observe the ethics and philosophy in a secular setting. People just don't seem to want to, and don't understand why it's a good idea to be a good person. The golden rule superseeds religions, so we don't need the Bible, Thora, Quran and all their appendices.
