This is a great video, man! Easy to see what you’re doing in the video, good narration of what’s going on step by step and why you’re using certain tools. Really helpful, thanks for the video!
Thanks a lot brother! I had P0171 code cleared it and then it came back a few days later. I wasn’t sure what to think so I got on RUclips. Your video took me to my exact problem. My pcv hose has an obvious crack in it. I will be replacing this asap. Thanks for saving me a substantial amount of cash because the dealer would have took me for ride lol
Unfortunately my Cadillac was not giving me any lean codes. After watching your video I I performed closer inspection of the vacuum hoses and lo and behold on the underside it was cracked at both ends. Thank you for posting this video. I didn't want to pay $180 per hour for the dealership to work on my ATS again.
Excellent video. For the first tube in your video I noticed the PVC was rubbing on the valve cover. I installed some spiral wrap on the new tube to prevent chafing.
Another great video 👍🏼 while changing the spark plugs for my 2018 ATS today, I noticed that the PCV tube had a huge crack that was causing the car to burn a lot more fuel. Changing the spark plugs definitely helped but I ordered the tube and hose, appreciate your videos.
@@backyardchevy328 what year ATS is this one? I noticed the cap you’re removing at 3:45 is slightly different on my 2018 ATS and is there a different way I can yank them out without damaging something else?
@@backyardchevy328 I’m thinking of using those picks you used at 4:00 and see what happens, otherwise I might have to settle and take it to a shop. If you’re near the LA area and willing, I’d gladly compensate you
@@whips8 they did work on the bigger connections..i didnt try em on the smaller ones since i had those other type of fuel line disconnect tools..but hopefully it does..it would save u a lot of trouble
You don’t need the modified fuel line disconnect tools. Each of those hoses has a small opening on the side of them where the locking tabs are that allows you to take your finger nail and push the locking tab open to release it.
What if i see a small amount of oil around where the pcv tube connects to the top of the engine? i have the same code and ordered these vent tubes, but will what i described fix this issue? or does oil there mean another problem?
Well that pcv valve is held in by clips that grab on the inside of the valve cover and unfortunately the only way to remove it is wiggling it upwards..trying to pull it/pry up as straight as u can
If you have a replacement uses big blade screw driver and pry it up slowly if anything breaks there is a flat metal bottom so if anything falls in it won't fall into the head you can pick out the debris with some pliers or tweezers
Too lean, i would check the air cleaner to make sure its not affecting airflow...look for any other possible air leak point..if thats all ok..i would clean the maf sensor cause a dirty maf sensor could cause a system too lean code...even a dirty throttle body can cause that, i had to clean the throttle body on a chevy malibu with same engine because it was sticking open for that same code...if thats fine..then maybe ur oxygen sensor may be dirty or not functioning as well..i would check all those
@@backyardchevy328 you’re a life saver man I can’t find anything on this motor, what’s the piece that it connects to that’s wiggles on top of the motor ? Thank you sm

Amazing video. Thanks for all the details!
Wow very impressive video! Thanks for the great help!
I love the detail
I do not have a code but my long term fuel trim is high and engine is shaking. Also there is oil in that pcv hose.
Thx 🙏🏾 for this video sir! Please make all you can!
Thank you for the video. How did you know that the valve and orifice did not also need to be replaced with the tube?
Wish i saw this before I doing this myself, would have saved me some time. Nice video

I had vacuum leak I changed that line but my brake pedal also got stiff . Does think have to do with this problem and how do I fix it
Thanks for the great video. It really helped a lot!
So how do you get those tools for helping getting the hoses uncliped? I getting a catch can and think I need those tools for my 2014 ats4.
How do you pop out pcv valve after disconnecting the hose. 2014 Buick regal 2.0
flat head under and gently wiggle out, you WILL break it FYI. Needle nose to remove bits/pieces.
1:53 you inserted your homemade white plastic tool into a circular piece that had the hose attached , how do you remove that circular piece
So simple and informative.
Thank you🙂
I have these three codes and I was told I need a new transmission
Mine has a misfire code due the smaller hose having some cracks in it how does this car even drive with that?
I got P0172 code what do you think the problem on it?
Thanks brother
Very helpful😊
When broken does this cause this car to blow white smoke through the exhaust sometimes?
I have the same question...
Does anyone know the part number of the first hose he took off. I cant find it anywhere thanks.
THANK YOU, SIR!
So glad to be able to help🙂 thank you for the support

What size fuel disconnect tool did you use
The one i cut was a 5/16 but the other one i used was a 3/8ths
What is the part number for the pcv hose that's steel braided?
12673868..i should have em in the video before the install
Do you have the part number for the 90 degree tube at 1:47
I believe its 12663027
