I was in the audience with my grandmother the day this was filmed. I always wondered if my memory was accurate and if I really had seen Jim Henson before his time on Sesame Street. Thanks for confirming my memory and sharing this rare video.

This is probably the only episode that's available if you know where to find it. I got a DV copy from an eBay dealer years & years ago. Watching the show in full is surreal, as I cannot imagine anyone (except maybe Lawrence Welk fans) who would find the Doodletown Pipers entertaining. Watching them perform, you'd never guess that U.S. soldiers were dying in Vietnam at the time. Just another sad example of how sixties entertainment refused to acknowledge the reality of the war.

That balloon bit was repeated on the Muppet Show. Fun, I never knew that it had been on before that.

@perfgeek : Interestingly enough, "Our Place" was the summer replacement for the Smothers Brothers Hour, which frequently got censored by CBS or pre-empted by affiliates for referencing the war.

@marathonmongoose : It was Holly Mershon, one of the Pipers. She certainly performs well with Rowlf.

Sounds like Jerry Juhl wrote the Rowlf bits.
Who sings the duet with Rowlf?
