I remember that one! Almost 40 years, thank you very much! That was an emotional moment 😅
Nothing like a vintage matchbox!! I appreciate it and thank you!! I hope you enjoyed!!
Had that one too in my collection of Matchbox, Corgi, and Hot Wheels. Loved my cars as a kid. ; )
That's awesome!! Love me a classic lamborghini!!
Awsome Restoration
Thank you!!
I still have that one, blown away seeing this pop up in my recommended today, restoration came out badass!
Thank you!! And I'm glad it made its way to you! Love these little cars!! Hope you enjoyed!!
Nice job!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you!!!
Some kid must have loved that car and played with it a lot.
Yes indeed. Imagine if it could talk.
That was my first car my Grandmother bought for me. At a pet store in Chicago. The owner had the cars in a round carousel. On the table you pick out the one you wanted. He would give it too you in a box . Thanks for letting me see that car again.
What a cool memory!! You are welcome!!! I hope you enjoyed!!
@COMMONDAVE419 Yes I did I tried finding the car. But we moved so many times I couldn't.
Ahhh man. Well maybe it will turn up sooner or later. Happy hunting!!
I had (maybe still have) this Hot Wheels! I loved this thing as a kid and it was my first exposure to mid engine vehicles!
That is super awesome! It would be really cool of you can find it!! I hope you enjoyed!!
@@COMMONDAVE419 Yeah I love watching your process with these videos, but I was kinda hoping you would try to match the original paint job. 😁
There will be some I do matches for. Some of them I just like being creative with em.
Great job!!!
Thank you!!
You have great skills and a whole lot of patience. It turned out great....however, I kinda wish that you went with the original orange color scheme and paint details.
Thank you!! I had a lot of back and forth on what to do with the paint. I took inspiration from the countach LP500. Which this casting was based on. I hope you enjoyed!!
@@COMMONDAVE419 Do you ever do these restorations as a paid service? And what would you charge for something as extensive as this?
It depends on condition of what I start with and yes. I make customs and do restorations on the side. Anywhere from 35-100 depending on what needs to be done.
X2
What you have done there is absolutely brilliant. I wish I had the patience to do that. The finished result looks fantastic.
Thank you so much!! It's actually very therapeutic!! I hope you enjoyed!!
@@COMMONDAVE419 you won’t believe this, but I was thinking the same thing I build Air fix models , i’ve only just started doing it in the last few months , it relaxes me at my age of 57 lol 😂
Yes I completely agree!! It keeps my mind off the real world for a little while too. These little cars are a ton of fun!!!
Back from the dead! Nicely done!
Thank you!! Was definitely a fun one!!
This is so weird that this video popped up in my feed. Had this car when I was a kid, was at a comic book shop a few weeks back and they had a pristine one for sale. It's sitting on shelf under my TV now.
Great restoration and I've subscribed.
That's awesome!! Thank you for the sub!! And fantastic find!!
That suspension was how they beat hotwheels in a race😊
Yes indeed. The superfasts are the best!!!
Nice hot wheel
Nicely done 👍
I appreciate it, Thank you!! I hope you enjoyed!!
Great Job 👏🏻 👏🏻 👏🏻 looks very nice 👍🏻
Thank you!! I hope you enjoyed!!
My favorite Matchbox car, Mine is in ace condition and the smoothest ride.
That is super awesome!! Need to get thay thing out and display it.
Solid as always, Dave!
Thank you sir!!
Great work..Looks good in yellow.....❤
Thank you!! I hope you enjoyed!!
Sir, I would like to share my pleasure of watching your great skills in 1/64 restoration. And you painted this Countache the most hard colour. Yellow. I can’t believe my eyes seeing the final result. All yellow cars from factory are ugly. I can see green and black stripes under the yellow. Never bought. You made me believe that yellow is fine. When the master is doing the job! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thank you very much for the compliment. I hope you enjoyed!!
Labour of love, bravo! Just for reference, when this Matchbox model was manufactured, I was 9 years old and I still love them.
Thank you!! You can be any age and enjoy matchbox and hotwheels cars!!
I own this one in mint condition, thanks for the vid
That's super awesome. I hope to add the mint one to my collection soon! Thank you! And I hope you enjoyed!!!
Top Job! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thank you very much!!
I had that one.The countach was my pride and joy.Had a yellow one to,but not sure if it was matchbox.
Good job.
Thank you!! It's a great casting. I hope you enjoyed!!!
Jeez, I had that car as a kid in the 70’s.
That's so awesome!! I hope you enjoyed!!
@@COMMONDAVE419 I did! That was a great restoration.
Thank you!! It was a super fun one to do!! Glad you enjoyed!!!
Had it ❤
That's super cool!!
Well done!
Appreciate it!! I hope you enjoyed!!
Nice job!
Thank you!! I hope you enjoyed!!
Great job with your restoration of the Matchbox Lamborghini Countach . It came out incredible like the paint yellow and the very cool detail painting of the motor . If l tried doing the work on it to finish l add the rear wing or maybe it didn't come on the 74' real life car.
Thank you!! The casting was based off of the countach LP500. So I wanted to keep that theme. From everything I researched the LP500 was a prototype/concept car. They also did one in purple. And yes this one did not have a wing. If you have a chance google countach LP500 it's a beautiful car!! Thank you and I hope you enjoyed!!
@@COMMONDAVE419 Yes l did enjoy the video and thanks for the faxs about the real Lamborghini the matchbox was based on.
Of course!!
@@COMMONDAVE419 saw the Porsche the racing number in the background on the desk is that original or something you did looks very cool.
It is a future project!! It is stock right now.
Buena restauración! El color se ve bien con las llantas de goma ! Sólo que en éste tipo de clasicos me gusta con las llantas originales! Saludos desde 🇲🇽⭐. 😃👍🏻
Thank you!! I took inspiration from the countach LP500. Greetings from 🇺🇸!!

Very sweet restoration! Just subscribed to your channel
Thank you I appreciateit!! Glad you enjoyed!!
I've still got mine from when i was little. Now my son plays with it
That's so awesome!!
Me gustan mucho esas ruedas! Buen trabajo ❤
Thank you!! I think they fit the car really well! I hope you enjoyed!!
I had one of those! Wow, suddenly I feel old 😞😄
Nah, just remember you got to play with it. Should bring back fun times and memories!!
I have that way back early 80s...I think it's still there in our house in the Philippines...I will look for it when I go back for vacation,...
Awesome!! Hope you find it! Hope you enjoy!!
That's a old Matchbox casting. Looks awesome in yellow and detailed. Nice you drilled & used screws to reassemble.
Thank you!! I appreciate it. And I hope you enjoyed!!!
@@COMMONDAVE419 Your welcome. Thanks I did, I'm also a customizer and collector too.
Super cool!! What are some of your favorite castings?
@@COMMONDAVE419 Too many honestly... I have Hot Wheels, Matchbox, M2, Johnny Lightning, Autoworld, Greenlight, and Ertl. What's your favorite castings?
I'm a huge fan of the syclone. I love the time machine delorean aswell. But yes I also collect a ton of others. Lol. I kinda just buy what catches my eye.
THATS MY CAR!!!!- I had this!!! In my car box!!! circa 1978!!!!
That's so awesome!! I hope you enjoyed!!
Respect.
Thank you!! I hope you enjoyed!!
I have a car like this and it is in perfect conditions.
That's so awesome!! If I find one in great shape, I will be buying it and displaying it next to this one!! I hope you enjoyed!!
Oh my god...I had that car
That's so cool!! It's such a cool casting. I had a ton of fun with this one.
Awesome
Thank you!!
Naranjo era perfecto!!!
Thank you!!!
A model of the first LP400 countach!
Yes indeed!! Such a beautiful car in real life.
I had the same model in pink but it color shifted from pink to light orange when exposed to warm water.
That's super cool!! I hope you enjoyed!!
If anyone is looking for me I’ll be up in the loft going through my cars from the 70’s including this very car.
Heck yeah!!! Gotta get it out and show it off!!
I have this Matchbox car!
That's awesome!!! It's a cool casting.
Nice job! I have this exact same car but mines in near mint condition after 50+ years being on this planet... Looks good tho!
That's so cool!! And thank you!!
Thats pretty fudgen sweet man, i give it another "she a beaut clark"
Thank ya, thank ya!! Love saving the oldies.
Do you ever take something like this further, like dropping black ink i the panel lines or looking up the actual cars to see what might have had some extra details going on?
Yes indeed. Most of the time I look them up. This one I took inspiration from the LP500. Also have to remember this is just a toy Car. Sometimes I have plans to go much further but when I get to a point I'm happy with I stop. I hope you enjoyed!! Thank you for the comment.
That's come out amazing. The stock look is just brilliant. I am curious. You really spent quite a while sanding off those louvres. Wouldn't filling with some sort of epoxy putty and sanding thereafter have worked as a better and quicker solution?
Thank you!! I trying to be as delicate as I can with the old casting and pieces. I personally prefer to use hand sanding. I feel like I have more precise control that way. Yes, it is probably a fast process, you are not wrong. I appreciate the question!! I hope you enjoyed!!
So funny, I actually have this toy car somewhere 🙂
That's awesome!! You gotta find it!!
Lol das gleiche Modell hatte ich in Grün. 😂
That's so awesome!! Great casting.
Silly question but, I’m curious why the lime away needs to be neutralized? Your videos are awesome and fascinating and I usually follow your process no problems but, I don’t understand that step.
I appreciate the question and thank you. Just a safety step to eliminate a possible paint issue is all. Anytime you have questions let me know!!
@@COMMONDAVE419 thanks for the info, appreciate the reply. Keep up the killer work.
Thank you and anytime!!

Great job.
What kind of items did u use to take the livery from the parts?
Can you list it here?
Best regards from germany
Thank you!! I used paint stripper on the metal and I used alcohol on the plastic.
@@COMMONDAVE419 ty for your answer 👍
Lamborghini countach L400. Lo tengo. Colecciono desde 1968. Hasta hoy tengo 1197. De todas las marcas matchbox mayorette hot wheelds aguty tomica esdeco buby corgi y otros. No compro más en Argentina son muy caros. 😪😪
I had a yellow one in 1989
Very cool!!
I wish you could have found wheel sets with longer axles. They’re too far inside the wells, they need to be about flush with the sides of the body.
Also the Countach came out in 1974. Maybe the Matchbox toy came out in ’73 based on concept cars or spy photos or pre-production promotional materials?
I agree with the wheels, I had a tough time picking em for the look I wanted. I want to do as minimal modification to the inside chassis as I could while still keeping this wheel set up. And yes this casting was based off of the countach LP500. If you google countach LP500 you will see where I got my inspiration from. Beautiful car. I also believe they did one in purple. Thank you for watching and I do hope you enjoyed!!
Great effort 👌
Shame Matchbox got this car's proportions totally wrong at the back, so the cabin is too far forward.
Thank you!! Not bad for a 50 year old toy car though!!
Still got this one and all my others from when I was younger.
Not sure if they are worth anything.
I'm sure they aret but like everyone else condition is a big factor.
Hey, i still have this very Lamborghini! But in a really much better shape
That's so awesome!! Hope you enjoyed!!!
What’s the name of the paint remover mate?
I unfortunately threw away the container. I bought it a few years ago at Walmart. I apologize!!
Better results with Airbrush
I agree. One day I'll get one. I still enjoy doing them this way. I hope you enjoyed!!
@@COMMONDAVE419 Giving toys back to life instead of throwing them away is always a great thing. If it can make someone happy it is doing its job
What's that spray? 5:28

Awesome!!! It's fun isn't it?
What was that at 7:54?
Thats a spring loaded center punch.
WHY this need to ruin great videos with garbage "music"?😢
I personally like music in the videos. I appreciate the input, and I'll keep that in mind for the future!! Thank you, and regardless of music, I hope you enjoyed!!!
My brother recently passed, his name was Dave as well. I inherited his toy car collection.
Matchbox, hot wheels.
I have started collecting these things and adding them to the collection .
Thus lambo was ine of them.
My condolences. Welcome to the hobby! It's ton of fun. Thank you for watching, and I hope you enjoyed.
