I watched another channel with a brand new ‘23 RT - the complete left side switch gear became inop - wonder what that’s about. I love my GSA but I’m REALLY loving the RT - may be time to switch up a couple of things.

From the title I thought maybe you fried a LiPo battery. Never good when the magic smoke gets out. I'm pretty sure he was smelling the heated grips and maybe some other "new bike" smells. Doesn't explain the TFT though. Peace and love.

      Got $12,000?
I just bought a 2015 which is 95% what this bike is.
Mine had 6,500 miles at the time of purchase. Not broken in yet. Point being, you don't have to buy it NEW.

I bought my first BMW in 2007 (K1200GT). I took it right off the showroom floor and put 130K miles on it. Then, in 2015, I bought a used K1300GT. I still have it and she has 107K miles on her. I would love this R1250RT, but it's just too much money.

Would you mind sharing your reliability experience with the K bikes? Considering a K1600 next spring. Thanks!

@@CorwinRUclips I loved both the K1200GT and K1300GT. I bought the K1200GT new off the showroom floor. I was really looking at the K1200S, but decided that it was too much of a sport bike for me (I was 49 when I bought it). The only real issue I had with the 1200 was that there was a recall for the cam chain tensioner (I believe I got that right). Mine broke off before I could have it replaced, but it ended up being warranted by BMW. It was a $6K dollar fix. (BMW solved that problem in the K1300GT.). I was meticulous with the service. When it was time, I took it in. I am not one to do the work myself as I am not a mechanic. I put 130K miles on it before selling it for $3K. The power that that bike had was incredible. It had a low center of gravity and was quick. I bought the K1300GT used. It already had 10K miles on it. It was a 2009 and I purchased it in 2015. It too, had the same low center of gravity and was even quicker. I was just as meticulous with the service. After a few years, the bike started drinking oil. I was going through about a quart every 1K miles. The mechanics at two different dealers told me that it was normal that older engines burned a little oil. Fast forward to this summer when the engined just stopped while idling. I took it to the dealer and they found that the one of the cylinders had a very low compression and that there were other issues with the valves. By this time, I had had the bike eight years and put another 100K miles on it. The fix was a more money than I was really wanting to put into a bike that was 14 years old with 100K miles on it. It also had other issues (needed a new rear shock, one of the heated grips didn't work, the clutch was going to need replacement soon). It seemed better to put the money into something new(er). I ended up trading in the K1300GT for the R1250RT. I thought about the K1600, but it was too and heavy and the maintenance costs were going to be more than I wanted to spend. I'm 65 now and the R1250RT is just perfect. I've only had it a couple of weeks, but plan to put some miles on it as I am retiring soon. I would expect that the K1600 will be an amazing machine. I've heard that that six cylinder is a great engine and the bike has some great technology.

I would be more concerned about the aftermarket gadget attached to the lefthand grip. Looks like it is interfering with your ability to correctly operate the controls on that side. If it were me, I would remove it immediately.
